Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

The carpet looks...interesting. DS2 loves it so that's what counts. His room is looking suspiciously like it's almost done. He might even move back in over the weekend.
All I have to do now is buy and put up a couple of shelves, paint the curtain pole and put it back up (with new curtains) and finish installing the coving, which is harder than it looks.
I've had a very interesting day. My sister rang at about 2pm and asked if I could get some mum friends together to be filmed (by her advertising agency) talking about the Boots ads with the Here Come The Girls music. They had to do the filming this afternoon so I had very little time. I managed to get four friends together (in between dashing about taking the boys to their karate classes) and they all came over with their children and the film crew arrived and showed us about 6 of the ads and asked us questions about what we thought of them and Boots in general.
I was quite shy at first but it got easier. It was quite good fun and they paid us £50 cash each.
The children (8 boys) all sat in the front room quietly watching TV while this was going on, which surprised me.
I think the film is going on their website or something. Not sure I want to watch it
Now I'm exhausted and in need of a glass of wine.

Tee hee will be needing a link to that when the time comes.
How much house is left to do? It sounds like you've done a great job so far.

Dh rushed out at tea time following a call to say the people who go in to give his elderly father his tea had called an ambulance as he was very unwell and being sick. I rang him at 6 but he coulsn't really talk so I left him to it. He sent a text to say they were on the way to a&e and I've no idea what is happening.
I'm wondering if I should wait up. I'd very much like to go to bed...

MattBellamysMuse · 28/01/2010 20:44

That doesn't sound good. I think you should wait up for DH.

MattBellamysMuse · 28/01/2010 20:51

How much left to do? The master bedroom, which will be tricky because the walls need stripping (yes, more bloody woodchip) and painting but the new carpet has already been laid. So I'll have to be very, very careful not to ruin it.
The downstairs loo suite is sitting in the garage waiting to be installed.
We did a temporary job in the front room to make it inhabitable but that will have to be redone some time soon. It still has embossed wallpaper, which is now white instead of brownish green.
The patio needs redoing. It's currently just a big old cracked rectangle of concrete.
All the woodwork on the front of the house needs repainting.
The flat roof on the back extension needs replacing.
The 'garage' needs knocking down and rebuilding.
The drive/front 'garden' (old cracked concrete again) needs digging up and redoing completely.
The aluminium windows and patio doors need replacing.
So yeah, a little bit left to do

MattBellamysMuse · 28/01/2010 21:03

Any news?

ghostofoggs · 29/01/2010 07:29

Hope Fil is okay Berrie.

Lyra, link please when available.

Feeling crap. Bad cold with really bad sinus pain in cheek. Want to go back to ed.

Berrie · 29/01/2010 15:51

Dh didn't ring me ALL night so I imagined the worst. If he was just twiddling thumbs in A&E until they admitted him, he'd have rung me right? Wrong.
Anyway, he's ok. Still in hospital at the moment. Nothing hugely wrong other than he's lost all his strength and gone off his feet. (he's very doddery) I don't think they can be taking him to hospital everytime this happens? Dh's sister and nephew were arriving today from Canada for FIL's B'day. This is about the third time SIL has visited and he's been in hospital. Maybe he can't stand her!

Sorry you are poorly Oggs
Lordy Lyra. Not coming to see you in case you put a paint brush in my hand.

MattBellamysMuse · 29/01/2010 19:38

What you need is Sudafed Elixir oggs. Miraculous stuff.
I'm on the train into town to meet a friend for cocktails in Covent Garden. I'm too tired really but didn't want to cancel.
And this afternoon I popped to Ikea to get a couple of shelves for ds2's room and ended up spending nearly £300! Oops.

MattBellamysMuse · 30/01/2010 01:55

Just got home. Too late, too much prosecco. Groan.

ghostofoggs · 30/01/2010 11:11

Headache Lyra?

ghostofoggs · 31/01/2010 00:12

< tumbleweed >

Hope you are both ok.

Berrie · 31/01/2010 07:42

I'm ok, are you?

ghostofoggs · 31/01/2010 09:40

I'm fine. The sinus pain has gone and I now have a comedy voice
Snowed again last night. No running water.

Berrie · 31/01/2010 19:01

More snow?

Glad your face is a bit better. I am looking forward to Being Human tonight. I'm not sure I'll make it to 9pm however.
It looks like we need a new laptop. It has been slowly dying now for a while. The DVD writer isn't working, now the sound card and other odd things.
Dh rang up our power company and told them to give us the £300 credit they'd built up. Our payments are high enough to cover the next quarter as they went up after our hot water something or other went dodgy last winter and we had to use the emersion a lot.
Anyway, point is, I was glad that the £300 would help us to get straight sooner than I'd expected but no laptop is a bit of a biggy so we'd better shell out (am trying to forget the £200 we owe my Ma...)

MattBellamysMuse · 01/02/2010 18:26

More snow here too this morning.

Berrie · 02/02/2010 07:54

Blah blah blah! You two and your bloody snow!

Day off today yippee!I hate bloody going to work. (I like it but don't like having to do it)

What's on today for you two?

ghostofoggs · 02/02/2010 09:37

Washing, more washing and then a couple of loads of washing...

MattBellamysMuse · 02/02/2010 09:54

Putting together DS2's new wardrobe.
I spent yesterday finally putting his pictures in his baby album
Me and a couple of friends got together with our empty albums and piles of photos and had a sorting out session. It was a great idea to do it together because it meant none of us could say 'oh, I can't be bothered, I'll do it another time'.
We're going to do it on the first of every month until all our photos are beautifully displayed in albums.

MattBellamysMuse · 02/02/2010 09:55

Oggs, you've reminded me I have at least 30 loads of washing to do. Oh joy.

Berrie · 02/02/2010 09:56

Me too!

ghostofoggs · 03/02/2010 08:57

Morning

Many computer probs again... I think the PC is buggered.
Heavy frost again. Which means no water, which means no washing, which means it continues to build up as I haven't managed to clear the last month's backlog.
I've got a coldsore.
I'm fat.

But...

... yesterday we rec'd our Xmas pressies from db and dsil.....

.... I got a pair of felt jester slippers... Yay!

... and an Edward Cullen doll!!!! Squeeeeeeeeee!!!

Berrie · 03/02/2010 11:14

Edward Cullen doll

Berrie · 03/02/2010 11:16

We have decided to keep going until the laptop pops. We really ought to get on the straight and narrow.

I did all the ironing yesterday [smug emoticon] Have not done that for a while!

Berrie · 03/02/2010 11:18

Dh has 'acquired' New Moon for me. If it is good enough quality, will watch it tonight, otherwise will wait for dvd.

Rats rats rats Oggs. Will they infect the chickens? There was one on the coop roof looking through the window at me last night!

ghostofoggs · 03/02/2010 12:46

Aahhh. I like rats Infect them with what?
I don't really have a clue .
