Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

OP posts:

Small banana - feeling faint - so much for porridge!

oggsfrog · 28/10/2009 13:59

Slice of cheese with a slice of onion (snarfed while making dh a toastie)

Pup currently eating a stuffed penguin

Still writing PTC stuff, amending constitutions etc. Pah!

Will try to cut out alcohol 'cos it makes you fat (not you specifically, you in general).

Won't succeed.

Stop

(my posts are becoming increasingly sparse in detail. Feels like wartime telegram )

Berrie · 28/10/2009 14:13

Do you know what? Giving up drinking for 4 months made no noticable difference to our weight.

Tin of tuna on toast, 2 apricots.

I sleep so much better wihout alcohol.

Berrie · 28/10/2009 14:45

Satsuma

oggsfrog · 28/10/2009 16:13

Nuts

oggsfrog · 28/10/2009 16:25

Mmmfff... more nuts... om nom... nom nom... hard to stop with nuts...

Berrie · 28/10/2009 20:11

Pork steak, cabbage and carrots.
1 bottle of beer
Several glasses of wine...

oggsfrog · 28/10/2009 22:00

Oops .

Rest of day was good though wasn't it? It's not the end of the world. Reward for doing so well so far?

Back from PTA meetings.

Cup of coffee.
Realised I haven't had any tea which isn't good.
Not actually hungry though.
Bed soon.

Berrie · 29/10/2009 09:31

Morning!
Lyra how is it going? Is it still lovely weather? Are you having lots of wine and cheese?

Banana
Dreadful headache...shouldn't have done it!

oggsfrog · 29/10/2009 10:20

Morning

two boiled eggs
That'll teach you

Berrie · 29/10/2009 10:31

Satsuma

Bet I do it again on Saturday though!

oggsfrog · 29/10/2009 10:34

I'm going to allow myself one night when I can drink. I'm also going to try to limit it to one bottle of wine. I think it will be Sat as all other mornings I have to be up for the dog/dd etc. Dh can have Sun morning dog duty .

Still no closer to buying a laptop. Keep waiting for PCWorld to drop their prices.

oggsfrog · 29/10/2009 10:48

How do you find your Dell laptop? Would you recommend one? I've seen an Inspiron 15 for £299 and think it looks ok.

Berrie · 29/10/2009 12:28

It was DH who chose it. I've nothing to compare it to. He recently helped the neighbours buy a PC but they found that her work could not work wih Vista so they are borrowing our old one until they can get XP installed. I'll ask him when he wakes up. He's at home ill.

Tin of tuna and several apricots.

Has your Mumsnet display gone funny?

oggsfrog · 29/10/2009 14:12

Cheese, onions and a piece of chicken.

Oh dear. Nothing too bad I hope.

Getting totally befuddled now over what I should be looking for.

Got to take dd to the shops as she has no shoes . Her bedroom was full of boots, trainers and shoes but she informed and showed me this morning that they are all too small/knackered.
She has a pair of tie up pumps and a pair of wellies that fit

Berrie · 29/10/2009 14:42

Dh says not Inspiron 1500. His Dad has one with Vista and it's terribly slow. That might be Vista, I've used it and it is terrible.
Dh says you need to be looking for the best specification for what you can afford like RAM memory, hard disk size and the speed of the processor. One with a video output would be able to play things through your TV if that's what you wanted. He doesn't know how much of a computers resources windows 7 needs to use and that could be an issue.

Berrie · 29/10/2009 14:43

Satsuma

Large carrot

oggsfrog · 29/10/2009 15:00

Tell dh thanks.
I'm looking for minimum RAM 3GB, Hard Drive ~150GB. I don't need tv output as the Laptop screen will be bigger than our tv

I've seen one at Tesco taht looks good. It's Vista Premium so I could upgrade to Windows 7 free.
3GB RAM, 160GB Hard Drive, Processor speed 1.8Ghz, dual core Celeron processor, and only £327!

Need to get dd.

Berrie · 29/10/2009 19:34

Sounds good

bottle of beer
portion of chilli
brandy...dh currently getting another..

oggsfrog · 29/10/2009 20:08

Gin and diet tonic, half a slice of cooked beef.
that am obviously not as committed to giving up alcohol as I first thought

Just got back from shops. Dd now has a pair of school shoes, a pair of trainers and a pair of waterproof/ windproof, fleece lined ankle boots. All for a total of about £30.

Berrie · 30/10/2009 07:11

Flipping 'ec, that's good!

I think I must declare 2 or3 riveta Dh has already 'lost' 5lb, me only 4. I'm not really obsessing about food any more though I feel empty. I did have a brief pie and chips fantasy last night.

oggsfrog · 30/10/2009 07:34

Last night - a spicy peperami, 2 babybel,a bottle of wine and X-Men Origins, Wolverine.
This morning - banging headache and a puppy that wanted to go out for a poo at 6:40am.

I gave up buying her expensive Clarkes type shoes. There was an article on Womans Hour a while ago that said they aren't necessary and she gets through them so quickly it's not worth it anyway.

Can empathise with the pie and chips fantasy...

Debating whether I feel up to going shopping for the main food shop.

Berrie · 30/10/2009 08:37

I'm off to work this morning so there will be nothing until lunchtime!

It was odd neither of us had any desire last night to eat the left over piza from dc's tea but then I was cooking a chilli!

While you are shopping I'll have a baguette please!

Berrie · 30/10/2009 11:56

Mackrel on toast.
Very very hungry.
The fair is in the village this weken. I think we'll take the kids tonight. Lots of food smells

Berrie · 30/10/2009 12:45

apple
