Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

OP posts:

No. Dh walked out early while she sat waiting in her unifrom, but he came back and said it was too dicey.

You could be a dog-walker.

Got to go dd pestering. We are in the middle of making gingerbread - wich I can't have

I like ryvitas. With loads of butter and marmite.

Berrie · 18/01/2010 15:35

The walking is the bit I think might be a problem!

Berrie · 18/01/2010 15:37

Poor dd

oggsfrog · 18/01/2010 20:14

Wooooooooo! Hooooooooo! Who!

Dh did manage to get out today and has declared the road passable for tomorrow! He had a tooth out at the dentist's. Wasn't expecting it. Bit of a suprise

He also collected mail. Yay! Thank you, thank you Berrie (and Mr B)! Doctor Who part 2 is here and it really is the second part!
Will wait until dh is at a Council meeting one evening before I watch Hamlet .

I did ever so well with my food today .
Until now .
Cambridge diet sachet for breakfast and lunch, then home made veg soup for tea.
Then in the space of a minute a mini-roll and a piece of the gingerbread dd made today.

What has everyone else eaten tonight?

MattBellamysMuse · 18/01/2010 20:52

Leftover lamb stew here. Delish. Did it in the slow cooker so it was really moist and tender.
Oggs, cheating on your first day does not bode well. Good news about the road though., Free at last!

Berrie · 19/01/2010 07:11

You know what I had for lunch. For tea we had roasted vegetables with feta cheese...then ham and cheese in toast, then some jammy dodgers!

Today is mine and dd's day off. I have a lovely basket of ironing ready - lots of shirts. I have to go to school at 10.25 for a meeting. I have a child proection course at 3.45 for two hours and meditation this evening. I REALLY don't want to go to meditation. I've paid now though. I didn't practice once.

Apparently, since I went back, dh has been jotting down, with pleasure, what I've earned every day on his calander at work. No pressure then.

Berrie · 19/01/2010 18:59

Wherefore art thou?

It's just been me all day.....

oggsfrog · 19/01/2010 20:32

Sorry Berrie. I've been busy trying to sort out our PC. We think it might be a virues now rather than the CPU. Bloody things!
I need to download spyware and extra safety stuff for this laptop too.

MattBellamysMuse · 19/01/2010 20:35

I'm here. Exhausted. I spent the morning at B&Q buying DIY supplies and equipment, then did a huge food shop, caught up on a bit of the neglected housework then got the boys from school. DS1 has a friend round and they all ended up wrestling on the carpet in just their pants. They were having a great time.
One bit of good news I had today is the bank is refunding my account with the money I paid for those non-existent tickets in November, which is a relief. They have this little-known thing called Chargeback for debit card purchases that go wrong but it seems very few people have heard of it. Even the staff behind the counter in the first branch I tried hadn't heard of it. I only found out about it online.
I can't decide whether I should carry on stripping DS2's room or read a book.

Berrie · 20/01/2010 07:35

Hope you read a book Lyra. Can't keep up with you.

Bloody technology eh Oggs!

Berrie · 20/01/2010 08:28

Anyone watching Glee?

oggsfrog · 20/01/2010 08:44

er... No-ooo (gosh, it's hard to get inflection into printer words isn't it?)

I heard it mentioned on the radio yesterday. Is it a sort of High School Musical series? Is it RL? Sort of Fame cross Britains got talent or whatever it is Pop Gossip, Pop Factor?

Lyra, you are a veritable whirlwind

Berrie · 20/01/2010 10:47

It's not reality. Yes it's a series with singing and dancing.

Is dd at school then? Is she enjoying it?

oggsfrog · 20/01/2010 11:15

Yes, but you should see the backlog of PTC and school paperwork that was sent home with her last night . Ho Hum, it's off to work I go...

Berrie · 20/01/2010 12:47

Does she have a scottish accent?

MattBellamysMuse · 20/01/2010 19:08

I don't feel like a whirlwind. I feel like I don't do very much most of the time.
Today I spent stripping bloody woodchip wallpaper (again) then after school took DS2 to the carpet shop to choose his new carpet. Big mistake. He chose the most garish multi-coloured one there. I let him have his way but am now having major doubts. Too late now.

MattBellamysMuse · 20/01/2010 19:38

This one

oggsfrog · 20/01/2010 20:36

The teacher does, dd doesn't

Guess what? I. drove. to. school. today. !!! Yee ha! First time out in over a month! Dh came with me just to make sure I was ok.

Bloody slippery.
Scary slippery in places.
A drop down a steep bank into a river on one side of the single lane very icy slippy track, and a drop into a water culvert on the other.
There is still inches thick ice all along it. Horrible feeling when it slips. No way of stopping.

I'm going to venure into town tomorrow after dropping dd off.
Wish me luck

oggsfrog · 20/01/2010 20:38

That's not so bad Lyra . It could have been much worse!

You should see the carpets we have in here. They are the original ones from the 70's in places

Berrie · 21/01/2010 07:20

Oggs, I don't like the sound of that.
It sounds much too dangerous. Make sure you come on here to tell us you are ok. I'm going to be worrying all day!

Lyra, I'm sure once it's covered with toys it won't be so bad!

MattBellamysMuse · 21/01/2010 11:40

The one he really wanted was bright pink and shaggy but I managed to persuade him that he would regret it in a year or two.
Are you still alive Oggs?

Berrie · 21/01/2010 12:32

Actually, won't be grinning if she's dead.

Berrie · 21/01/2010 17:34

Come on Oggs...

MattBellamysMuse · 21/01/2010 18:11

I'm sure she's fine.

Berrie · 21/01/2010 18:35

If she was fed up of us, she could just never come back. It would be so much kinder of her to let us think she was dead than that she was bored bored bored of us...

Binkle didn't come back. One day was obviously enough!
