Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

What am I supposed to be seeing Lyra? Should it link to a video? Probably my crap connection .

MattBellamysMuse · 15/01/2010 01:01

Should link to MTV video

MattBellamysMuse · 15/01/2010 01:06

Vampire weekend were very good but they kept us waiting till nearly midnight. Yawn...

Berrie · 15/01/2010 12:37

Afternoon!
I just don't know how you do it Lyra. That's a young person's game!

Have you actually left work now?

MattBellamysMuse · 15/01/2010 15:46

Well I was knackered today and a little hung over. The wine was £1.50 a glass so many glasses were consumed in the course of the evening.
My mum's having back surgery today, very similar to yours Berrie. I wonder how she got on. She must be out of theatre by now. Must ring...

Berrie · 15/01/2010 16:51

What is she having done?

MattBellamysMuse · 15/01/2010 17:49

Removing a disc or something. I really should have found out the details

Berrie · 15/01/2010 18:46

Poor Lyra's Mum.

oggsfrog · 16/01/2010 08:56

Lyra, hope your Mum is okay and recovering well.
I too don't know how(or more importantly why) you do it, you little rockster you!

Rain, rainy, rain, rain here. Yay!!!

Snow is reluctantly leaving. With over 6" of solid ice in places it may take a while, but fingers crossed we'll be able to get dd to school on Monday.
She's thoroughly bored, fed up and missing contact with her friends/other children.

It's been 26 days now that we have been stuck here!!!

I'm in two minds... I can't wait to get back to normal, but on the other hand it won't be normal for a while as I'll have almost a months worth of catching up to do.
Can you imagine a months worth of dirty washing?
I've also got all the PTC and other paperwork to catch up on and meetings to organise, tax returns to be done etc. Aargh!!

Berrie · 16/01/2010 10:21

Great news Oggs. You'll be able to get your disc too!

Lyra, I was just looking into whether tickets were available at Richmond Theatre for Lee Mead in the Oscar Wilde play next month with a view to asking if you wanted to come with me. Then I realised I couldn't sit during the journey down let alone the session in the Theatre. Booooo!

MattBellamysMuse · 16/01/2010 10:40

Berrie, I didn't know Lee was at Richmond Theatre.
Oggs, I do it because it's fun. Live music can't be beat.
Looking at my washing pile (or piles ) it looks like it could well be a month's worth. That's what happens when I have to do DIY, the housework gets neglected.
Good news that the thaw has begun. All the snow here is gone now and everything's grey and dull. I liked it better when it was all white and pretty.

Berrie · 16/01/2010 12:12

Lee here

I went onto the Bill Kenwright site for details of the tour.

MattBellamysMuse · 16/01/2010 19:07

Ah, I saw that article in The Times and meant to read it but I suspect it's now on the recycling pile.
Just went to town and bought a new super kingsize duvet. The first new one we've had for at least 10 years. Got feather and down ones for the boys too - they've only used blankets up till now.
Chinese feast should be arriving any minute. Yum!

Berrie · 17/01/2010 08:50

We need a new duvet. It was quite posh when we bought it which is why I still put up with the way the feathery downy stuff has gone all thin!

oggsfrog · 17/01/2010 20:49

Hello

Feeling fat and fed up. Haven't been able to get out yet.

MattBellamysMuse · 17/01/2010 22:37

You will Oggs, you will. And soon.
The new duvet is wonderful. Heavy and warm. Should have upgraded years ago.

Berrie · 18/01/2010 07:47

Feeling fat too. I tell you, losing weight is a curse as when it goes back on (which it always does) you feel crap.

oggsfrog · 18/01/2010 11:24

I need to lose 4.5 - 5 st

Have 12 sachets of Cambridge diet left (4 days worth) from last year so have started on them this morning.

Berrie · 18/01/2010 11:29

Just came back from work as a child was off. Decided my body was not going to be a temple today after all and put two piece of toast in the toaster. I was just about to spread them when, from Lord knows where, I got a dribble of will power and had some mackrel and salad leaves instead...followed by a riveta! Still feel hungry.

Berrie · 18/01/2010 11:34

Hurrah! Bloody bins are being emprtied for first time since Christmas. We've not had much snow but as our village is built on the side of a hill the slopey roads were too much for the lorries. The other day dh had put a bin bag next to the bin. The cats pulled a pheasant carcass out of it so we had to take stuff to be recycled ourselves yesterday. Needn't have bothered.

You really wanted to know that didn't you!

oggsfrog · 18/01/2010 12:22

You have enriched my life and made me feel better about the world by imparting that snippet of information Berrie

Berrie · 18/01/2010 12:22

I want a dog

Dh says I can if I really want but it's a really bad idea and he can't advise me against it more strongly.

He's right.

What I really want is to foster a dog, then I can give it back if I need to! Do shelters do fostering?

Berrie · 18/01/2010 12:23

Had half a packet of riveta! They are not that nice.

Berrie · 18/01/2010 12:25

Got to go back to work shortly...booo.

Berrie · 18/01/2010 12:26

Come back Oggs, I'm lonely...

Did dd get to school?
