Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

OP posts:

I won't know whether I'm going to work until I get there and see if Pre School is open. (That's if I can get up the hill to it)

Berrie · 08/01/2010 08:07

And we only had 2cm!!!

Did the snow plough come Oggs?

Lord, I'm nervous! New school...

oggsfrog · 08/01/2010 08:34

Good luck with the new school Berrie!

Snow plough was for the forestry track so they can start work again. No use to us.
The only neighbour who had 4wd has a cracked radiator too now. His central heating pipes have also cracked.
We now have no way of getting out.
Hopefully a friend of a friend is trying to get in today. We have requested a sack of chicken corn and 10 bars of chocolate . The only shop he will be passing on the way in is a very small village shop.

-10 on the thermometer on the kitchen window, so it must be much colder than that outside.

Little roe deer has made no appearance. Hope she's not died .

MattBellamysMuse · 08/01/2010 11:26

I've just booked us a mini-break for tomorrow.
A while ago we won a raffle prize of a night for two in a posh central London hotel and for an extra £50 we can take the boys with us, so we're going tomorrow.
The plan is to visit some of our old haunts (the hotel is very close to where we lived till DS1 was a year old) and go to the British Museum on Sunday.
Looking forward to it

oggsfrog · 08/01/2010 12:04

Hope you all have a lovely time Lyra

What? Me? Jealous? Of course not.

MattBellamysMuse · 08/01/2010 13:50

The boys are very excited. They love staying in hotels and they don't get to do it often.
Berrie, how was the new school?

Berrie · 08/01/2010 14:21

Lordy I'm cold!
Glad work is over. I'm a bit sore but I managed it!
Lyra, have a lovely time!
Oggs, hope you get out.

oggsfrog · 08/01/2010 14:36

No chance of us getting out .

Dh has reassessed and thinks the radiator may not be cracked but we will need to wait until it thaws to be sure. Either way, it's all academical.

When are you working next?

Berrie · 08/01/2010 15:37

Monday...all day!!!

Berrie · 09/01/2010 09:00

Wasn't someone trying to get through to you though?

How come there are not any friendly farmers who can come to help on a tractor?

Berrie · 09/01/2010 09:36

What would youn rather have? A tactor or an insulated water supply?

oggsfrog · 10/01/2010 11:07

Neighbour got out Fri and brought us chicken corn, chocolate, bacon and two envelopes!
Thank You Berrie and Mr B!
We watched the penultimate Doctor Who on Fri evening.

Tbh I found it a bit... meh...
Shed a tear when Ten got all teary in the cafe with Wilf, but on the whole it was all a bit .... meh...

Not one of the best at all. Bit of a letdown. I wanted a belting story showcasing DT to the hilt.

Saved the second one to watch last night.

We got dd in bed and set up the laptop.
We shared out the last hip flask-ful of whisky and split a bar of chocolate.
I snuggled into a blanket and put in the disc....

...

...

...

It was the first half again!
You sent us the first episode twice!

We watched QI and went to bed.

oggsfrog · 10/01/2010 19:18

Yay! Dh got out and came back armed with supplie (including booze, but I won't mention that ).
He also managed to get some RadWeld and fingers crossed, the car will be okay.
He's hoping to get out tomorrow in the car to collect the coal too.

Yay! once more. Just to make it thrice yay!

Berrie · 10/01/2010 21:48

Woo hoo, that is good news!

Hope things start to look up for you now!

Berrie · 10/01/2010 21:48

Did he get some new anti freeze too?

oggsfrog · 11/01/2010 11:05

Yes he did . He's gone off to collect the coal so fingers crossed he's okay.

Wonder how Lyra got on at the weekend?

School is emailing me some more work for dd as we still can't get her out. It's snowing again.

Berrie · 11/01/2010 12:15

Snowing here too but it's not settling.

oggsfrog · 11/01/2010 13:04

Did you say you could let me have Hamlet? The one I tried to get was no use. Just a couple of seconds worth that worked. Just enough to tempt me . Must say, it looks fantastic!

Dh managed to get the coal but said it is extremely slippy. He could also only use the forestry track rather than the road, which is dangerous because of the trucks using it.

Berrie · 11/01/2010 16:54

Hamlet is already on its way to you with Dr Who (hopefully)

I worked all day today and Lordy, did it hurt. Dd was also distressed to spend all day at Pre school. I spent all day thinking I shouldn't be doing this - a. because I'll knacker my back and b. because this is my last chance to be a SAHM and I'll regret it

I'm seeing the physio tomorrow so I'll see what she says.

Berrie · 11/01/2010 16:55

Do you like Shakespeare then?

oggsfrog · 11/01/2010 20:48

Was it the first time dd had spent all day at pre-school? It's bound to be a bit of a shock after having you all day for the last ? weeks. Hopefully she'll settle.

Sorry your back has been bad, but again, it's probably to be expected if it is your first full day.
Good luck tomorrow with the physio.

Yes, I do like Shakespeare (the bits I know anyway ).
I did Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, and The Merchant of Venice for O Level, and Anthony and Cleopatra and a couple of others (can't remember which) for A level (although I left college before the actual exams).
I saw Derek Jacoby in Richard III too.

I liked the contemporary setting for the bit of Hamlet that I saw.

Berrie · 11/01/2010 21:15

She was there on Friday but the novelty has worn off now. She says it's too long and she misses me.

It's so tempting to go for the money - especially when I've not worked for weeks. We have a rather big hole in the bank account which needs repairing and we really really could do with some savings. I can't help thinking that I can do all that from next September when my back is stronger and dd is at school.

I'm lucky to have a choice. I should stop moaning!

Berrie · 11/01/2010 21:16

Hope Lyra had a good time! I'd love to take dc to London.
