Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

Berrie · 28/12/2009 16:40

Oh alright then...but I warn you, he might be...ahem...a little worn out!

Berrie · 29/12/2009 10:10

Morning!
No snow

I listened to the Desert Island Discs with DT last night. What a sweetie! Is he gay do we know?

I also downloaded Front row but it was the wrong one. The Times did a review of Hamlet on TV. it was very good but I couldn't find a link for you.

oggsfrog · 29/12/2009 12:57

Morning

No additional snow here but what we have is showing no signs of leaving anytime soon.

Thank you for my Christmas card! Perfect! I got it last night when we went to our neighbour's for annual party/meal. They had collected post on their last run out.

Dh has gone off with them to get supplies today. There is no way at all we would get out in a car. The tyre ruts are frozen and so deep that it would ground a normal car. It's like being on a ride... the 4wd just slides down the indents.

Berrie · 29/12/2009 15:56

Glad that you are getting some supplies.
Hope Dh got back ok?

MattBellamysMuse · 29/12/2009 16:23

Hello ladies. Lovely Christmas, busy, exhausting, far too much wine and food and far too many toys!
No snow here either sadly. And there I was hoping for a white Christmas. Dang.

MattBellamysMuse · 29/12/2009 16:24

What did you get for Christmas? I got far too many toiletries for my liking. Oh well. I got a couple of Muse DVDs so I can't complain.

Berrie · 29/12/2009 17:04

I got an ice cream maker. I made a delicious batch of raspberry last night and dh put it back in the fridge rather than the freezer and ruined it!!!

Glad you had a lovely time Lyra.

Berrie · 29/12/2009 17:38

Ds bought me some socks and dd bought me some red gloves. I got some earings, some Beauty Flash Balm, some next vouchers an Xfactor mug , a glass rainbow wishing stick....er....a candle that looks just like a wine bottle...can't remember any more.

I have an enormous bag of confiscated sweets and chocolate under the stairs. Dc got around 5 selection boxes each plus tubes and tubes of sweets and chocolate. I left them with one selection box and some sweets and they didn't notice!
Do you get this and what do you do about it? I won't get away with taking them unnoticed for much longer. Maybe I should say something. Tricky though.

MattBellamysMuse · 29/12/2009 19:01

Maybe just tell the DC that you're going to store the sweets and they can have them a little bit at a time. Should last till Easter when their stocks will be replenished
I've just found DS1 has a hole in one of his teeth. No more sweets for him. Well, severe rationing at least. the dentist is going to give me a telling off.

oggsfrog · 29/12/2009 19:28

We don't have the sweet problem unfortunately. For Christmas I got dd a small penguin filled with mini smarties and a bag of chocolate coins, and that's all she had. She usually only has a couple of mouthfuls and is happy to leave the rest.

My pressie from dh was the laptop. This was an extra big huge gift as usually we only spend about £20. My pressie from dd was a knitting book and the 'How To Be' dvd. Both bought by me from Amazon and wrapped by dd .

Totally and utterly fed up with the snow now. Dh got back safely but only just. He said the track is lethal.
Just want it all to go away.

I think I have cabin fever.

MattBellamysMuse · 29/12/2009 21:49

I looked at your Facebook pics and it does look incredibly beautiful. Not much consolation, I know.

Berrie · 30/12/2009 09:18

Morning.
More snow?
I keep hearing that we are supposed to have been hit by a snow storm but it is pouring with rain.
Did dh get any good supplies?

Berrie · 31/12/2009 08:23

Where did you go yesterday?

Are the lines down again Oggs?

Any plans for this evening? I am going to bed so there! This is our last evening drinking for a while. I am looking forward to sobriety but it is very boring.
Any resolutions for next year?

May I take this opportunity to say that next year I shall be 39. Tomorrow I shall have to change that to 40...not that 39 feels too good either.

oggsfrog · 31/12/2009 08:36

Morning

No more proper snow, but still basically marooned here.
Pip pup found a batch of old eggs in the barn yesterday and proceeded to nom them and roll in them Eeeuuurrrrrgghhhhhhhh! We can't even bath her.

Dd is going stir crazy.
She hasn't spoken to/seen another child since she was last at school on 10th Dec. Dh is going to do sledging with her today and I'm making gingerbread with her later.

How is life with you two?

Dh has taken to calling me 'butterball' and wants to know what I now weigh....

oggsfrog · 31/12/2009 08:44

Ill be starting my slimmimg down/getting healthy drive on Mon rather than tomorrow (I have a leg of lamb with roasties planned).

Tonight will be no different to any other night. If we stay up past midnigt it will only be because the film we are watching runs over We don't celebrate/mark it in any way whatsoever.
I think if I was the celebratory type I would celebrate the Winter Solstice rather than New Year.

Berrie · 31/12/2009 09:36

Poor dd, that's rotton.

Ds wants to go out and drive his remote controlled monster truck somewhere. I am trying to resist this. Poor ds! They have spent the last few days eating crap, watching tv and playing nintendo. Though we did make it out to ASDA. It was stupidly busy! I will go to the library if it's open today...actually don't think it will be, is it Thursday?
I made some more berry yoghurt ice cream last night, yum!I think I'm going to like my new ice cream maker!
I am NOT looking forward to starting work next week. I do like my work but I have had a taste of not working and I like it! I'd kind of like to spend more time with DD before she starts school in Septmeber and it's too late. However, the bank balance and dh see things differently.

Dh has had some trouble getting Buzzcocks and Hamlet off the digital recorder - as in he can't. Hamlet might be just too big. The first Dr who and QI are on disc for you but since you are marooned I thought I might as well wait and do the last Dr who for you as well before I post it.

Your dh needs a slap!

Berrie · 31/12/2009 09:55

Mmmm, I want lamb now!

MattBellamysMuse · 31/12/2009 10:30

Morning! I'm supposed to be taking the boys to adventure golf today. I stupidly promised them I'd take them.
Last night they helped me make fresh pasta for the first time and it was surprisingly delicious and easy. The mixture is just flour and egg, then there's a lot of passing the dough through the machine before cutting it. A friend gave me a machine she'd never used.

oggsfrog · 31/12/2009 10:31

Don't worry about Hamlet and Buzzcocks, I'm very grateful for all that you've done already

Just had a major weepie moment in the chicken house. I didn't have the top back on the waterer properly and spilt 2lt of water all over the floor and just started crying.
I'm okay now but feeling very fed up with the weather.
Everything has frozen solid and there is no sign of it getting any better.

Berrie · 31/12/2009 10:43

Oh sorry Oggs Is the river frozen solid? It's not that deep is it? Could you melt snow for the animals?

Berrie · 31/12/2009 10:45

I bought dh apasta maker for his b'day. We had it every day for a while until we got fed up! You are right, it's really nice. I thought conventional wisdom said that dried was just as good. It's kind of softer though!

oggsfrog · 31/12/2009 11:24

Mmmm. Home made pasta. I really should try making some.

No Berrie. River not totally frozen, it's just that I can't walk anywhere without slipping and it's so bloody cold.
I'm just generally fed up.
Dh said he would have a look later and maybe spend the whole day trying to dig us out, but it's about 4 miles to the main (gritted) road. That's a lot of digging of ice.

MattBellamysMuse · 31/12/2009 11:45

I can imagine the novelty of fresh pasta wears off fairly quickly, especially with the dried stuff being so cheap.
I don't think fresh is any better for you nutritionally but it certainly tastes better.

Berrie · 31/12/2009 12:07

Mmmmm lamb...fresh pasta....lamb....fresh pasta....decisions decisions!

Trouble is, I can't really face another supermarkert run (sorry Oggs). I do undersatnd how it feels not to be able to go anywhere.
Beans on toast it is!

Berrie · 31/12/2009 12:09

Although I guess dh took me out at the weekend...
