Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

Morning!
Glad you enjoyed it. Sorry that Iplayer is not working for you.
I'll get the next Dr Who burned for you but even if the postie could get through to you,I don't suppose there will be a collection for a while.
It was good! Ds won't think so though, too much talking and not enough action. I know I will cry on the last one.

Hamlet today, I am very excited! I might have to take myself up to bed to watch it though, can't be doing with children walking in front of the tv, one has to concentrate you know!

oggsfrog · 26/12/2009 09:30

He got excellent reviews on Front Row (R4) the other day - the reviewer couldn't praise his performance/interpretation too highly .

When is the next/last Doctor Who on?

What have you got planned for today?
I need a quick tidy up then it's normal stuff like bringing in wood, coal and water, feeding and watering animals.
Still haven't managed to get a bath/hairwash and am feeling decidedly grubby.
Snow showing no signs of shifting anytime soon

Berrie · 26/12/2009 10:17

I think the last one is on on New Years Day.

Dh's Dad is coming in a bit. We will have bubble and squeak.
I've just done some Christmas shopping in the lakeland sale for next year.I didn't mean to, I was just loking for some more snowflake window stickers. They went down very well this year! I bought some snowflake cookie cutters, some santa russian dolls, some cellophane sheets (couldn't find any this year) Some turkish delight for me(Ididn't get any this year - never do mind you) I bought some family trivia table games, I did want to buy the bell ringer christmnas crackers but decided against them even though they were half price, There were some ice crystal candles (I think they melkt lacily) and some little mouse manicure sets.

oggsfrog · 26/12/2009 10:28

It all sounds lovely I love Lakeland.
I also love bubble and squeak but we don't have any leftovers

Berrie · 26/12/2009 10:59

I think we still cooked for 10 even though they didn't come!
DD is bawling upstairs because I won't brush her teeth for her....sigh. before that she was bawling because I wouldn't dress her because she didn't come when I asked. Christmas is all a bit too sugar filled and emotional.

Berrie · 26/12/2009 20:14

Sigh....David TennantHamlet was wonderful!

I can't believe I'vew got to watch him die again next week though!
Thin lips or no - I'd 'do' him now!

Berrie · 26/12/2009 20:15

Bastard strike out error [fsngry]

Berrie · 26/12/2009 20:16

Arses! I'm not even pissed!

oggsfrog · 26/12/2009 22:10

Berrie · 27/12/2009 10:01

Good morning?
Any sign of a thaw Oggs?
Are you visitor free yet Lyra?

Dh is grumpily making a hot wheels track for ds. It is not easy. Dd is eating another sticky lolly.I am wondering if anyone will notice if I sneak back up to bed...

oggsfrog · 27/12/2009 10:23

It rained last night but the snow is so thick and it is so cold that it just freezes. This is when it gets horribly slippery.

Neighbours with 4wd are attempting to get out later today and dh is going with them incase they need to dig. He will hopefully be able to get some supplies.

Been stuck in a week now.

Berrie · 27/12/2009 10:53

Sounding grim now.

Does he have a comprehensive shopping list?

oggsfrog · 27/12/2009 11:11

Not going with neighbours after all now. He's decided to have an attempt in our car just to see how far he can get.

Don't actually need that much suprisingly. We did a check of the freezers yesterday and they're pretty well stocked. Running a bit short on fresh veg due to us having a garden full of carrots and parsnips, and therefore not buying any last monday

Having bacon butties soon and will do a chicken casserole with dumplings for tea. We've run out of booze I think but am not that bothered.
Definitely need to address weight/health in New Year

Hope Lyra had a good Christmas.

Do you do anything for New Year?
We never bother and are in bed early usually, but this year dd has become more aware of it and asked if she could stay up. Will try to persuade her otherwise [frin].

Snowing again. Pffft.

oggsfrog · 27/12/2009 11:20

David Tennant. Radio 4. Desert Island Discs. NOW!

Berrie · 27/12/2009 11:52

Boo...will have to download.

You don't mind about the booze?!?
Good for you.

No we go to bed then get really grumpy when the fireworks wake us up at midnight. Guess you don't have that problem.

We will be giving up the booze again next year. I look forward to sleeping well and saving money. I had lost quite a lot of weight after my illness but I dare not weigh myself again after this past week.

oggsfrog · 27/12/2009 12:43

Only don't mind the booze because I've started coming out in a bright red rash on my face and chest when I've been drinking. Also becoming breathless. Can't be good.

Other neighbour (no transport) has walked over because his son has got stuck on the hill (not public road), so dh has started our unroadworthy 4wd and has gone off on a rescue mission.

He gave up trying to get out in the car.

Berrie · 27/12/2009 15:42

Oh...no supplies then. Do you find you have to have an emergency store for this time of year? What is the longest you have been trapped?

Berrie · 28/12/2009 08:33

Good morning.

DH's last day off today.
Pissed off with Christmas stuff cluttering the place up!Is it too early to take the decorations down?

How is the snow Oggs? I hear it's turning cold again. Hope we get some this time.

oggsfrog · 28/12/2009 08:48

I think tbh that this is the longest we've been stuck.

When it gets to this time of year we try to make sure we've had a coal delivery (for one of the burners) and have a spare bottle of gas (for the cooker).
We keep flour/bread mixes and tinned stuff in the cupboards and milk, butter and cheese in the freezer.
Oh, and a big stock of candles.

Very cold and clear this morning. Totally fed up with it now .

Not to mention that dh is having to make trips to the river to collect all the water we need. I am managing on about 8 x 2lt botles and 1 x 5lt bottle per day. That is it for hot drinks, dogs, cooking and washing up.

On Boxing Day he spent hours filling buckets and bottles so we could top up the water tank and have a (shallow) bath. Dd went first, then me, then him. It was bliss

Berrie · 28/12/2009 09:27

I guess you will still be reliant on the river when you build your new house or will you be able to lag the pipes any better?

Berrie sends a helicopter with supplies of hot water and a very cold DT who needs warming up!

oggsfrog · 28/12/2009 10:06

Depends what we can afford. Ideally we would have a borehole and pump but that would cost thousands. For the time being it will be buckets/bottles and river in the winter when it's freezing.
We can pump from the river in the summer but the pipe is over/underground (it's about 150 or so yards to the river) and it freezes.

Thank you so much for the very cold DT you sent. He is nicely warmed up now and having a rest.
You don't happen to have any very cold RP's hanging around in need of a warm rub do you? < hopeful >

Grrrrrrr....

Berrie · 28/12/2009 10:25

Are you mad?
I'm mot sending both of them

oggsfrog · 28/12/2009 15:38

Spoilsport! Ok, how about swapsies?

I've sent DT back to you. By the time he gets there the poor fellow will really need warming up. It is probably advisable to check extremeties for signs of frostbite .

I eagerly await arrival of one thoroughly chilled RP.
