Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 12:35

Just checked my thingy. It's 4.0GB. Is that big? I think it is but I'm not sure.

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 12:38

Will watch Waters of Mars with dh after dd has gone to bed. Other than that it will be whatever is on the radio.

Berrie · 24/12/2009 12:48

Have you checked WOM's works?

Berrie · 24/12/2009 12:51

Once the snow has gone we can post it to and fro fairly quickly.

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 14:51

WoM not playing on dvd player (which is shite anyway and rejects 4 or 5 out of every 10 as a bAdDisC).
It plays on the laptop though so that's ok. Will just have to sit very close to laptop as inbuilt speakers are crap .

Just having a tidy up then thinking of pre-cooking roasties so they can be frozen and just dropped into hot duck fat tomorrow.

Dh wouldn't let me buy parsnips and carrots as we have them in the garden... which indeed we do... under about a foot of sodding snow. He's off to do some excavating...

MattBellamysMuse · 24/12/2009 15:51

Just had a look at the boys' presents and realised I need at least 12 more batteries. Back to sainsburys...

Berrie · 24/12/2009 16:44

Bastard batteries!

I hope dh managed to break through the frozen earth!

We have not predone the vegetables for the first time in years but everything else is ready. I burned the milk for the bread sauce twice today!

Ds sobbed for an hour this afternoon when his 10cm high snowman began to melt. I dare not let him know that dd went out and stamped on it.

Dh has been sent to bed to have a sleep to see if it will cheer him up. I am just making a Christmas Eve curry.

Glad the dvd worked.

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 17:30

Ha! < smug > I remembered batteries . Turns out though that the two toys that take them came with them already included. That's a first.

Dh gave up. Luckily I had some carrots in the fridge. We will be doing without parsnips.

For the first time ever I have pre-done the veg. Potatoes now in freezer. Carrots and sprouts in fridge. I'll do cabbage tomorrow.
Bread sauce is a packet mix, as is stuffing.

Mmm. Curry. We're having steak and chips. Just need to hoover up first.
Last year at Mum's I taped The Polar Express as we were watching something else. I've got dd a new pair of pjs and we'll watch the film tonight before she goes to bed.

Was going to make reindeer food as usual but have just read that the glitter can harm birds so don't know what to do now...

Bloody dh threw away my cup of brandy coffee. He was making a cup of tea for our neighbour and wanted a cup. Id only had a few mouthfuls. Only got enough brandy left for one more. Pfft.

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 17:40

How's ds2 now Lyra? Is he better?

Berrie, hope dh has a happy sleep.

Berrie · 24/12/2009 18:20

Dh's eh?

Dh is not noticibly less grumpy. Feeling a little less than festive myself!
The curry was nice.
Our pressies also had batteries included

Roll on bedtime!

Berrie · 24/12/2009 19:46

Ooooo forgot to look at your pictures. It's so beautiful. I am

Dh says that it took him ages to put it on a disc for various reasons that are now resloved so we will get copying onto disc as we go along. We should get tomorrow's Dr Who and tonight's David Tennant QI on one disc.
Dh wants to know why you can't download from IPlayer rather than streaming?

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 20:09

I didn't realise you could download from iPlayer. Last time I tried (ages ago) it only offered live streaming (or so I thought... was I being dim?).
I just tried iPlayer and it says I'm not in UK

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 20:16

Ooh. Ooh. I'm in iPlayer. It's telling me I need to install BBC iPLayer Desktop so am doing so.
Ooh. Ooh.

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 20:19

Oh. Can't see an install button.

Ooh. It's doing something.
It's installing Adobe Air.

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 20:31

v.e.r.y. s.l.o.w.l.y.

So when I've installed everything I need to, I should be able to s.l.o.w.l.y. download a programme and then watch it? and it will then be on my computer to watch again?

This is soooooooo exciting. I could be able to watch tv???? (albeit after it has been broadcast)

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 21:19

Aargh. Can't download it. I've tried three times now and I've tried directly from the Adobe site.

Having another go...

Berrie · 24/12/2009 21:55

Oh dear.
You are able to download and watch for a limited time...if you can get it

Berrie · 24/12/2009 21:56

Hope you manage it...let us know.
Off to bed in a mo....Merry Christmas.

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 22:00

Still trying. It keeps failing

Just about to down Father Christmas's whisky

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 22:33

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I've managed to finally download/install/gently rub and coax into working order... de, de de de, de de, de, derrrrrr.... the BBC iplayer thngy!

I'm downloading a Never Mind the Buzzcocks Doctor Who special. It says that the prog is 35 mins long and it estimates that it will take... erm... about 10 hours to download .

It's to be hoped that this Never mind the thingy programme is good. I've never seen it.

Am happy. Hope it works. Am rather tipsy too.

It's to be hoped Mr F. Christmas doesn't down too many measures like I poured out for him...

Thank you Mr Berrie!

MattBellamysMuse · 25/12/2009 00:43

Presents wrapped.
Bastard drum kit assembled.
Kitchen clean and ready for the feast.
The Power of Love by Frankie Goes to Hollywood on Absolute Radio.
Much vino bianco consumed.
I'm off to bed.
Happy Christmas to you both!

MattBellamysMuse · 25/12/2009 00:47

That's excellent news Oggs. Buzzcocks is a great programme. This iPlayer thing could revolutionise your life!!!
Must go to bed. I'm so gonna regret staying up when the boys are full of beans at 5am...

Berrie · 25/12/2009 07:13

Groan....try 3am Lyra!

Glad you are getting there Oggs.

Happy Christmas lovelies!

oggsfrog · 25/12/2009 10:43

Dd got u for a wee at 6am then went back to sleep . We all got up at a very civilised 8:45am

A very Happy Christmas to you both plus families

oggsfrog · 25/12/2009 23:08

Just watchd Waters of Mars. Brilliant. Thank you Berrie and Mr B.

Had to give up on Never Mind the Buzzcocks as it still hadn't loaded after nearly 15 hrs and seemed to get stuck.
Started downloading an episode of Merlin at about 10 this morning. It estimates another 13 hours...

Hope you all had a lovely day today

Snowing here again < sigh >
