Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

Hellloooo!

No, post isn't getting in. I have a usb stick thingy. Will sort something out once things back to normal. Thank dh again for me, I really appreciate it.

So, glad you can drive again!

We'll have to get fit and thin together next year.

Loads to do too.

Berrie · 22/12/2009 12:11

Off tut post office!

Berrie · 22/12/2009 13:36

All posted.
Thanks for the card Lyra. Took me a minute or two to work out who it was from even though I was expecting it!

MattBellamysMuse · 22/12/2009 21:50

Berrie.
That's bad news about your Christmas Oggs. Is there no way you can go? Were you flying or driving?
DP very nearly got stranded in Edinburgh last night because of the weather. He'd been up there to interview Gordon Brown (5 pages in today's paper but I doubt either of you have seen it ) And his flight was delayed, then cancelled. Luckily he got another one but I was pissed off because I was supposed to be going out and he wasn't back in time. Stupid job. I know it wasn't his fault but grrr.
The upside is that GB and Sarah sent some lovely Christmas presents for the boys (spookily enough, things that were on their Christmas lists - how did they know? ).
Today we bought the turkey and had friends round for mulled wine and mince pies.
Tomorrow we're taking the boys to visit Father Christmas in a grotto at Painshill Park, an English Heritage place that has a cave that they set up the grotto in every year. Bloody expensive at £31 for the four of us.
DS2 is ill so I hope he'll be well enough to enjoy it.
Right, off to read my book (The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown - very good so far).

MattBellamysMuse · 23/12/2009 11:17

Tis lovely and frosty here. I hope it doesn't all disappear before Christmas day.

MattBellamysMuse · 23/12/2009 21:22

Thank you very much for my Eric card
I have no idea who it's from as there was nothing written inside and no postmark. But I've narrowed the suspects down to you two.

Berrie · 24/12/2009 07:16

Nothing written inside? Oh dear, I am more senile than I think!

Twas I [fgin]

Yikes, I have a bit of catching up to do.
First, do the Christmas presents work? Does Dp write a more positive article?

It snowed briefly here last night. I got ds out of bed to look at it. There is not a proper covering though.

Did you have a good time at the Grotto?
I've had two days now rushing around getting ready for visitors. I want to have a relaxed day today. We'll have a walk in the snow - what there is of it. We need to make some more mince pies so there is one for FC. We need to prep the vegetables, make some bread sauce and another stuffing.
Dh and I wrapped the children's gifts last night - swoosh! I'd been worrying about that.

What are you doing for Christmas day Lyra?
I guess Oggs is offline again

MattBellamysMuse · 24/12/2009 08:46

We're staying home for christmas and my immediate family are coming to us, same as last year. Now we have the biggest house ( the others all have flats) I suspect it will be the same every year.
I have wrapped zero presents so far so guess what I'll be doing today. Also will be baking mince pies. We used to get shop bought but now we're used to home made.

MattBellamysMuse · 24/12/2009 08:57

Boys has a lovely time at the grotto. It was a 20 minute walk from the park entrance to the cave and it was all lit by twinkly lights and the ruin and trees were lit up. Very beautiful (twas after dark). The visit with FC was over quickly because the boys were dumbstruck. then we went for a chnese meal afterwards.

Berrie · 24/12/2009 09:03

That sounds really lovely. I shall mention it to my brother for next year.

I too have the biggest house since the conservatory. I do ALL the family get togethers!

MattBellamysMuse · 24/12/2009 09:36

Nobody warned me when we bought this house that we'd be stuck with all get-togethers from now on.
Tell your bro if he wants to do the grotto thing he has to book in October and it sells out very quickly.

Berrie · 24/12/2009 10:28

Oh right, thanks for mentioning that. I've told him about it so I'll text that info!

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 10:52

Hellooooooo

Lyra thanks for the card
Berrie, thanks for the Doctor Who disc and the poster ! Did you steal borrow it off ds??

I've not managed to get cards off to you two . Sorry.

We're still snowed in. Snow depth is varied but I went in past my knees yesterday in patches.
Lyra we were due to drive but fly/drive/swim there was no way e'd have got out or back in again.

I keep thinking of things I forgot to get when we got out on Monday. Booze is being rationed and we don't have anywhere near enough treats. Have not had running water for almost a week so haven't been able to wash properly and hair is greasy.
Ah well.

On the plus side sledging is great. Dh got one of the ponies out yesterday and pulled dd on her sledge with him. Then he took a car bonnet off a scrap vehicle and towed her on that - giant sledge!

Will try and get some photos up.

MattBellamysMuse · 24/12/2009 11:37

It sounds great to me oggs but it must be annoying when you need to do stuff but can't. It's now raining here and all the lovely frostiness has gone .
I guess it's too late to send an emergency parcel full of Christmas treats.
We're planning to do nothing much today. The boys are watching Killing in the Name over and over. I keep forgetting to turn it off when the sweary bit starts .

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 11:42

We only got the post yesterday because one of our neighbours just about managed to make it out in his 4wd.

Pictures on profile!

I don't like the RAtM song, nor does dd.

Going to have a look today to see if there is anything we want to listen to on the radio over Christmas.
I'm saving Waters of Mars for Christmas Day so we can watch something.

Berrie · 24/12/2009 11:43

Hello Oggs, nice to have you still!

Did the posty man get through to you then?

Shhhh about the poster!
Father Christmas might have a Dr Who calender for ds from this week's mag. I might intercept it before he gets to it as I am suddenly thinking he won't let me use it!

That sounds like great fun Oggs! Silly you for not stocking up.

Dh is grumpy and we are a bit snappy with each other. He doesn't like this time of year very much as one Christmas many many years ago,I was being propositioned by another man. It went on a while and he was badly hurt. He will be home this afternoon. I just hope he can be nice and jolly for us. At the moment he is telling me off on the phone for doing too much and making my back hurt.

Now you two, scoot this message down the page!

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 11:51

The posty man hasn't even attempted to deliver since last Saturday!

It was hard shopping four days ago and trying to think of everything we'd need for the next ? many days. I mainly concentrated on milk, bread, butter and tinned stuff.

Dh got his own booze and only got 3 bottles of wine! That was on Monday! Pfft.

I have a bottle of mulled wine (only 10%) and a bottle of Southern Comfort imitation left. That is it. I don't know when we'll be able to get out .

We haven't got any crackers for tomorrow. Dd kept asking for some but dh said no, we didn't need them. Turns out he thought she meant crackers for cheese [hfhmm] .

We are making do.

Wish we could watch iPlayer

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 11:53

Berrie, will you be saving the Doctor Whos and Hamlet on your hard drive????

If so I will send you my usb thingy when we manage to get out. If that's okay?

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 11:54

scoot

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 11:54

scoot

oggsfrog · 24/12/2009 11:57

Cat killed a robin this morning

Berrie · 24/12/2009 12:08

So how did you get the poster?

Poor dd

Yes I'll save them

Berrie · 24/12/2009 12:16

I'm not sure how many will fit on at a time. Depends how big your thingy is I suppose.

Berrie · 24/12/2009 12:17

Oh ok I missed some messages!

Berrie · 24/12/2009 12:19

Ah...Waters of Mars might be a bit scary for Dd or did you mean for later?
