Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 16/12/2009 15:20

Laptop actually working fine now. It's seeing the battery etc. I ran it down completely and then re-charged it and it's been fine.
That's not the source of the panicking

I've still got presents to buy, presents to post (that haven't been bought yet), cards to write, car to book, Christmas food to buy, normal food to buy, some of dd's pressies and stocking fillers to buy, repeat presription to get, puppy car sickness tablets to get from the vet.... etc... etc... and one poorly child which means I can't do any of it.

< heaves a big sigh >

Berrie · 16/12/2009 15:28

It'll all come together in the end Oggs.

MattBellamysMuse · 16/12/2009 16:24

Can you do some of it online?

Berrie · 17/12/2009 07:53

Dh says he can take the programmes off the tv hard disc. You will need the program you used to watch True Blood to run them. I will send you Waters of Mars and The Buzzcocks Dr Who Special. Can you not do IPlayer because your Broadband is too slow?

MattBellamysMuse · 17/12/2009 09:22

Berrie, what kind of hard disk player do you have? I have a V+ box and I'd like to transfer some stuff onto DVD.

oggsfrog · 17/12/2009 09:31

Swoosh! Managed to get out to Tesco last night. I left dh with dd at 5:30. Took an hour to get there and an hour back. I didn't get home until almost 9pm.

I forget what it's like driving in the dark up here. No street lights until you actually hit the town centre: windy potholey roads.

Need to try and get to a town down in the oppposite direction today or tomorrow. They have a craft fair and I should be able to pick up a few bits and bobs there.

Cold. Trying to snow. Heavyish snow forecast over the weekend. Gah! Will have to spend a few hours filling the water tower and then filling empty 2lt bottles with water.

Berrie! Tell dh he is a love. As are you.
I do still have the program so should be no problem.
Yep. Broadband too slow to use IPlayer, which is an absolute arse. I'd love to be able to watch Robin Hood and Merlinas well as Dr Who. Pah!

oggsfrog · 17/12/2009 09:34

Dd watched the first two Tennant Dr Whos last night with dh . You know, the one with the Father Christmas band and the spinning Christmas trees? Then the one with The Sisters of Plentiude (bad cats)

< sigh >

I was up four times in the night because she was having nightmres.

Berrie · 17/12/2009 09:50

Oh dear. Poor dd. I won't let ds watch Waters of Mars in front of dd. He can hardly believe his bad luck..'She's always there though Mummy!'

Lyra, the Hard disc recorder has a slot for a pen drive which is how we are able to take things off it. It is a Sagem!?!

Berrie · 17/12/2009 12:55

It's snowing

MattBellamysMuse · 17/12/2009 13:32

Not here. the rain last night washed it all away

MattBellamysMuse · 17/12/2009 13:42

Oooh, sudden hail storm.

Berrie · 17/12/2009 16:50

Didn't come to much

MattBellamysMuse · 18/12/2009 07:15

Berrie, can you email me your address? I have it somewhere but it will save me hunting through a huge pile of paper to find it.

Berrie · 18/12/2009 07:39

So long as you return the favour!

MattBellamysMuse · 18/12/2009 09:28

Done

Berrie · 18/12/2009 16:04

Jolly good.
So are you snowed in?

MattBellamysMuse · 18/12/2009 17:59

No, we had a light dusting this morning. Business as usual. Which is a good thing as I went to town to do the last of my christmas shopping and found that Paperchase inside our Borders, which is closing down, was selling everything at 70% off. I bought picture frames, photo albums, wrapping paper, a year's supply of birthday cards and loads of stocking fillers.

Berrie · 19/12/2009 08:08

Any now?

I guess Oggs is shivering under a snow drift with a line down.

MattBellamysMuse · 19/12/2009 23:10

I guess so. I have just hosted a Christmas party for 25 relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc). Exhausting and expensive.

Berrie · 20/12/2009 08:17

Bloody hell. Well done!
I need to do a bit of preparatory cooking for Christmas day today. I kind of like it though.

Berrie · 20/12/2009 17:57

Oh bougre, have made a nut loaf for our family vegetarian and it's tasteless...

MattBellamysMuse · 20/12/2009 18:38

Oh dear. Can you do a nice (and very flavoursome) sauce to go with it?

Berrie · 21/12/2009 07:53

I've mushed it back down to crumbs. I need to add some flavour. I might make it into a nice (meaty) stuffing and stat the vegetarian dish again!

oggsfrog · 21/12/2009 20:37

Hello!

Connection okay at moment but snow is still falling so I may vanish again.

Managed to get out with car today by going in a convoy with neighbours. Very, very slippery and scary. Roads really bad.

We've had to cancel our trip to spend Christmas with my parents so will be holed up here. We did a big shop as we may not be able to get out again before Christmas.

Poor dd had to miss the annual village Christmas party. She's missed absolutely everything what with illness and the weather, and now we'll be stuck here on our own rather than with family .

Berrie · 22/12/2009 09:41

Oooooooogs!
I'm so glad that you re back! I was worried about you because you were miserable before you disappeared then you got snow which you don't like.
I would be in raptures if I was snowed in...snow is scarce around here But I appreciate that this attitude might be a little irrirtating to you!
I guess the post is not getting to you. Dh had a great deal of trouble making your dvd but it is done. I can post it now I have permission to drive. It might be worth buying a little pen drive. They don't cost much. Dh showed me how to get things off the digital recorder onto it. That bit is easy. We could post that to each other. I'll not rub anything off in the meantime so that I can get anything David Tennanty to you.

The consultant is a rude twat. He was running an hour late and sighed everytime I asked anything because he wanted to get rid of me. He kept standing up and holding out his hand to end the session. I was in there again only 5 minutes. He said I will always have back pain because of the damage done and that I need to lose weight and get fit.Still it's nice to be able to drive.
I've got my Dad and his wife coming tonight so I need to tidy up and prepare some stuff. Better get on!
