Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

OP posts:
MattBellamysMuse · 14/12/2009 14:24

Sounds like a lovely weekend.
We haven't done the tree/decorations yet. We were waiting till DP's around but as he's not goig to betill the weekend we should just get on with it tomorrow I reckon. I'm working today - just three more shifts to go till FREEDOM! (and skintdom )

Berrie · 14/12/2009 21:12

Yikes, must be slightly scary?

MattBellamysMuse · 14/12/2009 21:15

It is. Scary but liberating.

MattBellamysMuse · 14/12/2009 21:20

Ooh, just watching Lady Gaga's Paparazzi video and Eric from True Blood is in it. Yum.

Berrie · 15/12/2009 07:50

Oooo will look at that later!

I must say, it's been lovely not going to work or having to think about it. When I spoke to the Headteachers recently they told me they'd been given more funding for as many hours as I can do and my heart sank. Usually I think, goody, more momey!

oggsfrog · 15/12/2009 09:34

Morning
How is your back Berrie? and your headaches?

Dd still poorly. She missed the school Christmas Lunch yesterday, and is missing the trip to the Pantomime today, so is upset as well as ill.
I'm knackered.

I'm having problems with my laptop already! The battery is fully charged. The charge indicator on the battery says fully charged. But when I put it in, the laptop is saying 'Warning 0%' and 'Battery detected; not charging' Gahhhhhhhhhhh! does this mean I'm going to have to take it back to Argos? I bet they won't have another and I don't want a refund. Neither do I want to have it sent away for repair. Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

Berrie · 15/12/2009 11:18

No more headahes. Back a bit dodgy, I don't have much stamina either. Poor DD. Ds missed it all last year. It was his first though so I was more upset than him. He didn't know what he was missing. I'll ring dh about your laptop...

Lyra, had to see more of Lady Gaga's bottom than I wanted to before I got to see Eric!

Berrie · 15/12/2009 11:19

He's not at his desk...

oggsfrog · 15/12/2009 11:35

Am experimenting.
Despite laptop saying "0% remaining" I am (and have been for the last hour and a half)running off battery.
It seems to be a problem with the laptop not reading the battery correctly, if that makes sense?

Am also pissed off once again because I was led/lead? to believe that I would be entitled to a free upgrade to Windows7. I've just tried to register and they want £17

Fed up.

Also have no money, no car (dh put petrol in when it's diesel), haven't got a lot of presents done or cards, and am feeling distinctly un-chrismassy.

Bah humbug!

Berrie · 15/12/2009 11:50

Dh says you need to take it back.

Sorry you are not feeling happy. They reckon it might snow here later. Don't suppose that would cheer you up much either! Just think about the Dr Who Christmas specials specials...Hamlet (when is that on?)

MattBellamysMuse · 15/12/2009 12:14

Have you gals downloaded the Rage Against the Machine song? Gotta teach Cowell that he alone does not control the charts.

oggsfrog · 15/12/2009 13:27

Oh Poo! I suppose Argos will refund me but that leaves me back at square sodding one.

Doctor Who. < sob > I still haven't seen the last one "Waters of ars".
When are the Christmas ones on? I will only have access to a tv on Xmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

No. Snow wouldn't cheer me up

Lyra is this something to do with X Factor? yped a long response and the battery ran out without any warning

oggsfrog · 15/12/2009 13:33

Aaarrrggghhhhh!

Right. Battery just ran out without any warning. Thought message had been lost. Obviously hadn't

Have plugged mains ac cord in and battery seems to be charging as normal and laptop is doing what it normally does. Grrrrrr.

Lyra, has something happened to do with the X Factor (or is it Britain's Got Talent? < clueless >
Have never downloaded a song before. How much does it cost? Is song any good?
Where can you download it from? Not sure my speed will be fast enough. I tried to use iTunes once but it wouldn't let me join < Billy No Mates >

Berrie · 15/12/2009 14:00

Waters of Mars was not great. I wonder if dh can get it off the tv hard disc recorder for you? I'll ask him.
Do you have more than one battery? Why do you take it in and out?

MattBellamysMuse · 15/12/2009 14:01

Lol at Waters of Arse

The RATM thing is a campaign that's been started on Facebook to stop Cowell's manufactured X-factor winner automatically becoming Christmas number one yet again this year.
Remember the days when there was speculation (and excitement when we were little) over what was going to be revealed as Christmas number one on Top of the Pops? Not any more. Every year the slot is all but reserved by Cowell for his latest warbler singing some cheesy ballad.
So this year a bunch of people are buying/downloading the song Killing In The Name by RATM to try and keep Cowell's karaoke singer off the top spot.
It's a great song. I already own it but will download again. You can get it on iTunes for 99p I think plus lots of other sites cheaper. Look up the Facebook page.
It would be fun to have a hard rock song with lots of swearing in it as Christmas number one. Imagine the faces of all the elderly aunties and grannies assembled for Top of the Pops on Christmas day

MattBellamysMuse · 15/12/2009 14:02

I thought Water of Mars was good. It's the first time DS2 has been scared by an episode of Dr Who and he's been watching since he was 3.

oggsfrog · 15/12/2009 14:15

Didn't realise TotP was still going

Berrie, I take the battery out when I am using the laptop on the mains. The bloke in PC World said to, as leaving it in can fry it or something more technical...
He said if I didn't use the battery much then I should make sure that at least once a month I run it down completely and re-charge it completely. He said something about retained memory and the battery not holding charge/fully charging otherwise.

The battery this morning lasted for about 3.5 hours (despite laptop saying 0%). Everything looks okay at moment. I'll see what happens when it is charged.
Don't want to take it back if I can avoid it as it looks like Argos would send it away to something the fault (shit my memory is absolutely shite I can never remember words. I mean they would make sure it is faulty and not that I damaged it)

Lyra, will have a look at the somg. Tbh I couldn't really give a crap about the Christmas number one

Berrie · 15/12/2009 14:20

Sounds feasible, our battery is knackered.

I liked the X Factor winner. He reminds me of MFL'sF who was 17 when I met him. I'd be sad for him if he didn't get to number one!

MattBellamysMuse · 15/12/2009 20:54

Just back from DS1's Christmas concert. Second late night for them in a row. This week is way too busy.

oggsfrog · 15/12/2009 21:43

How did it go?

MattBellamysMuse · 15/12/2009 21:49

Fine. bit long, bit of a faff getting there and back but good.
Knackered now and the house is a tip with boxes of Christmas decorations all over the place. At least the tree's done.

MattBellamysMuse · 16/12/2009 14:22

It's snowing and the tree is up. So Christmassy

Berrie · 16/12/2009 14:32

We didn't get any snow. Maybe tomorrow. Glad you are having a nice time!

Feeling any better Oggs?

oggsfrog · 16/12/2009 14:59

Oh, slightly better . Less angry. More panicky.
So much to do. So little time. One still poorly dd.

MattBellamysMuse · 16/12/2009 15:07

If the laptop is actually working fine, can't you wait till after Christmas to get it sorted out? The warranty will still be valid then.
