Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

Morning.

The scooter nearly ran out this morning. I've had to call in reinforcements for pick up tonight! I really really need a blanket for my legs!

oggsfrog · 30/11/2009 20:28

{grin]

Spent hours today looking for shoes/boots for dd. She has a long thin foot (two actually) and is between sizes. Eventually found her two pairs of converse type pumps in Debenhams for £16. Bargain!
Two more days of hols then my treat on Thu is to go and see New Moon again

Berrie · 01/12/2009 08:07

Why hols?

oggsfrog · 01/12/2009 09:52

Dd is off for 3 days (half-term). Back at school on Thurs.
Bloody freezing (literally. No water.) here.
We are debating whether or not to go off on a jaunt to Ikea.

Berrie · 01/12/2009 11:25

How is it half term? Christmas is in 3 weeks!

oggsfrog · 01/12/2009 12:16

Don't know . That's what it's described as in the last newsletter - half-term. Less than three weeks before they break up for Christmas .

Berrie · 01/12/2009 12:32

...and it's the same all over Scotland or at least your bit? Crazy, what about all the rehearsals for the Christmas play and stuff?

Tee hee, I just bought some lovely wool to knit a scarf for dd! I have come to a stop with the Tardis facecloth. After my operation I decided that I would now be able to knit again and got dh to bring it me into hospital. Unfortunatly morphine and following a pattern do not go together. I reached the end of a row on the pattern and was only half way along. I need someone to undo and pick up that row before I can carry on.

Berrie · 01/12/2009 12:37

...can't bloody remeber how to cast on and can't find my booklet. Can watch one of those videos I suppose!

oggsfrog · 01/12/2009 13:39

What Christmas play? Remember there are only about a dozen children in the whole school and they range from 4-11 years old.

This is a good website for knitting help.

Berrie · 01/12/2009 13:51

Bugger!
I typed out 14 members of the nativity cast and then lost it somehow.

Thanks for the site!

Berrie · 01/12/2009 14:12

Fook...still can't do it

oggsfrog · 01/12/2009 14:34

Can't do what? The nativity list or the knitting?

Berrie · 01/12/2009 14:37

Cast on but SWOOSH! Have finally just watched a video that did it my way so I'm off!

Berrie · 01/12/2009 14:42

Right...all cast on. I can tell this wool is going to be challenging for me. it's fluffy with a silky thread twisted through it I'm hoping that one won't be able to see mistakes.

oggsfrog · 01/12/2009 17:57

I'm sure you'll get away with any mistakes
Run over anybody with your mobility scooter yet?

Berrie · 02/12/2009 07:32

Mmmmm it's not as forgiving as I thought. Ah well!

Berrie · 02/12/2009 12:15

Yes I ran over DD a couple of times. I now manage to squeeze them both on to go up the hill to school so no more unfortunate collisions.

Berrie · 03/12/2009 08:32

Where is Lyra?

About to take our first buggy ride in the pouring rain. If ds ever gets off the loo. He ALWAYS decides he needs one just as we set off. I can see I'm going to need to say it's time to go ten minutes earlier. He is currently shouting KNICKERS from his perch (his new favourite word) sigh.

oggsfrog · 03/12/2009 08:39

Dd is the same.
How long does it take you to do the school run scoot?

Don't know where Lyra is.. it's been almost a week. Hope she's alright.

Reckon the thread has died a death? Should we take it over to Messenger?

Berrie · 03/12/2009 10:11

We set off at 8.30. It takes 10 minutes to get up there. Then a bit of hanging around. Back just after 9am If it is a preschool day, their door opens at 9am and I get back(in the car for 9.15)

Is Lyra still on messenger?

Berrie · 03/12/2009 10:46

I have a hole in dd's scarf. Will it get bigger and sort of unravel? If so I'd better go to the wool shop and get her to sort me out.

oggsfrog · 03/12/2009 13:00

Depends how the hole was caused.
If it was caused by a yo (yarn over - caused by you bringing the yarn to the front rather than it being at the back) then it won't unravel.
If it's because of a dropped stitch then it will unravel/ladder.

Count your stitches. If you have one more than when you cast on you have don a yo. If you have one less then you have dropped a stitch.

Are you doing garter stitch (just knitting) or stockinette (knit a row, purl a row)?

Berrie · 03/12/2009 13:55

It is laddering.

Socking of course.

No point in counting stitches I've been gaining and having to knit two together right through

MattBellamysMuse · 03/12/2009 16:35

I'm still here, kind of. Busy.
Maybe it's time to relocate elsewhere as there's only three of us left. What about Facebook? I know you don't want to join under your own name Berrie but you could join under a pseudonym and just invite me and oggs to be your friends.

MattBellamysMuse · 03/12/2009 19:26

Work have accepted my request for voluntary redundancy
I thought as I'm bored rigid by the job after 10 years there, I may as well go when they're going to pay me to go. I'll get a few grand to tide me over till I find something else.
Bit scary though. What if I never find another job? We'll be skint.
