I am not a slut or a whore

I have a pole in my lounge for exercise, it takes up less room than my airwalker or a bike.

Apparently only whore, sluts and dirty women pole dance.

OK I am not very good yet and I find it all difficult but I want to do it and the himself has no such thoughts other than where he was fitting it.Yes I would like to be able to get off the ground but it will (hopefully) happen eventually.

does it stay up when you're not using it? I'd not want a pole in the middle of the floor.

PinkTulips · 08/09/2009 16:31

AF.... the knee high can help you grip alot better, great when learning and a bit sick of bruised thighs.

It does need to be practiced every day and is the best excercise imaginable... plus the rush of hanging upside down by your thighs is bloody cool

Dying to have a house of our own so i can put one up.... haven't done it in years and was never as fit in my life as when i did.

Hollyoaks · 08/09/2009 16:36

I have one that can go up or down so its not stuck up all the time. at how that sounds.

Fantastic exercise, great fun for me and the kids and dh when we feel like it. Whats the issue? Have fun and enjoy.

mustrunmore · 08/09/2009 17:57

I really am mystified as to the comment about it not being sensible to have that photo on my profile. Lots of people have pictures on their profiles, where you can see their faces. I'm not naked or indecently dressed, I'm in a going out outfit acually as it was taken just before leaving the house. There's absolutely no way even the dirtiest old pervert could see it as anything interesting. And I say enough things on mn for anyone who knows me to work out who I am, so what diff does a picture make?

Btw, legs not that great... just got tights on and taken from a distance!

mustrunmore · 08/09/2009 17:58

Oh and yes, knee highs help! But the ones in the pic are not my pole ones, as they've got buckles on.

And yes , its a quick release one, but I love it so much I've never taken it down!

mustrunmore · 08/09/2009 18:03

Lol, I just checked my photos, and there's 2 pole pictures. The other one isnt in going out clothes obviously, but its still not revealing if you ask me; you can see even less of my face actually.

TheWolf · 08/09/2009 18:06

I used to have a pole in the living room and don't see how it would make you a slut or a whore tbh?

mustrunmore · 08/09/2009 18:06

Cos obviously having a pole makes you invite strangers in for paid sex

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 08/09/2009 18:09

honestly, i wouldn't want dd to go to a house that had one.

lou33 · 08/09/2009 18:15

why not?

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 08/09/2009 18:16

because, to me, pole dancing objectifies women.

mustrunmore · 08/09/2009 18:16

Parks have climbing frames with firemans poles. THe kids treat it the same as that.

Flamesparrow · 08/09/2009 18:17

Why? Your DD wouldn't think there was anything sexual about it.

AnyFucker · 08/09/2009 18:17

mustrunmore, just to clarify

if anyone is putting 2+2 together and making 5, I am not calling anyone a slut or a whore

what you do in private is your own business of course

but call me old fashioned, that pic of you pole dancing (where you are swinging upside-down) is, IMO, inappropriate for a public site (and I am not a prude, believe me)

you cannot see what you are wearing, which actually makes it worse, because what you can see appears to be pretty revealing

and also, at the risk of attracting more hilarity (or mistaken for Dittany's sister...where are you Dittany, when I need you ?? ), have you ladies forgotten the origin of the "sport" of pole-dancing ?

AnyFucker · 08/09/2009 18:18

I will regret posting that

mustrunmore · 08/09/2009 18:19

And in the 16th 17th 18h centuries, people were aghast about the latest dance scandals too, god forbid that a man and a woman should touch each other whilst dancing for example.

And imagine the horror when women were first wearing skirts above the knee, a sure sighn they were asking to be seeing as slutty.

And omg, imagine when women wanted to have jobs.

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 08/09/2009 18:21

a man and a woman dancing together is a whole differetn ball game to a young woman ina club with an audience of mostly men leering.

i don't think pole dancing is liberating is think it is shite

AnyFucker · 08/09/2009 18:22

ok, so in a decade we will all be swinging round poles and posting pictures of it on the interweb....

I see....I see you as some sort of Emily Pankhurst figure now, mustrunmore

mustrunmore · 08/09/2009 18:23

But AF, I'm sure lots of mnetters have pics of themselves on hol in bikinis or cossies. My shorts and vest cover the same surface area. And I'm hanging upside down on a pole. In itself, thats not erotic. How can it be? Out of interest, would it be as bad if I was just doing a handstand? Or doing some kind of floip whilst playing beach volleyball? Its people's preconceived ideas that make them think it is terrible!

Flamesparrow · 08/09/2009 18:23

who said it was liberating?

Flamesparrow · 08/09/2009 18:24

Just out of curiosity... is it better or worse if MRM is a single mum?

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 08/09/2009 18:24

exactly, my preconceived idea is that sex workers pole and lap dance for money adn it is seedy.

mustrunmore · 08/09/2009 18:24

I'm not doing in for liberation, thats so stupid. I'm doing it cos I love dancing,I love music, I love exercise, I love a challenge.

I am far far far away from being Mustrunmore Pankhurst.

Oh, and ime, there are many females that go to pole dancing places. Its a night out.

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 08/09/2009 18:25

wft with teh single mum question?

mustrunmore · 08/09/2009 18:25

Love you trying to add fuel to the fire Flame Interesting to see the responses tho....
