Yes, but then I find religion on the whole a bit freaky

Morning

Off to do shopping today.

OP posts:
Berrie · 02/07/2009 08:02

I also am going shopping to buy foods that I can puree for fil. He came out of hospital yesterday having refused to go to rehab. Much tooing and froing from now on.

oggsfrog · 02/07/2009 09:14

I'm sure you'll find loads of things to purée.

On one of the wards I used to work on there were no special meals prepared. We simply had to tip the meal that everyone else was getting into a blender and whizz it up . Ack! Ack! Ack!

Was just one of the reasons I jacked nursing in.

Couple of sites that may be of use/interest...

Nestlé Nutrition (you may not agree with Nestlé but good for ideas)

another one with suggestions for diet

Last but certainly not least...this is a great company that supplies meals already puréed.
About £36 for 12 meals. You can order a mixed pack. They do puddings too. Saves you all the hassle of planning, cooking, puréeing and delivering to him etc etc and you know it's nutritionally balanced. Looks ideal for occasional or back up.

Got to dash...

What a fookin' day....

Oggs you are a star. I just hadn't thought about looking onlne, you don't when your head is full of stuff.

When I had shopped, cooked and pureed the food I got there at about 10.30. He went to the loo but couldn't make it back. I had to hold him up and then tumble him into his chair. He was saying he couldn't go on like that and we talked about him going in a home. I waited there until bil got there and spent agaes on the phone to his care services and his social worker. I came home about 2.30...headed up to school for a meeting and then collected ds. DH went straight over there from work and it seems they have decided to struggle on for a bit.
I feel so sorry for him and sorry for all of us who have to struggle with it all. I just hope that we are setting a good example to our children so they know what to do with us when we are that feeble!

oggsfrog · 02/07/2009 19:31

Woo! What a star you are.

How old is he?
Is his house on one or two storeys?
Is it his own house?
Does he have a 'home help'? (I used to be one after I ditched nursing)

Just realised you may not be comfortable discussing this in public. You know where I am.

My news...

Ta Da!

I can haz passports! Wheeeeee!
Such a relief. So much of a relief that I am sat here drinking whisky and lemonade!

Excellent news, Oggs. Passport nightmare will be a distant memory soon enough.
Berrie, you're all doing a fine job.

Berrie · 02/07/2009 19:59

Woo hoo! What a relief!

He is 85. He lives in his own home, 2 storey with a stair lift. People come in to get him up, give hime lunch, give him tea and put him to bed. The woman who came tonight did not give him his medication

He reckons he has no memory of refusing to go into re hab.

DH and BIL have gone out and bought a tipping up chair tonight so he can stand up easier.

Dh should be home in half an hour. I reckon we will have to eat what's left of the pureed chicken in pepper sauce I made this morning!

Lyra, how is your DH?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 02/07/2009 22:49

Berrie, you're amazing. What a star you are.

And remember (this goes for all of you) if you ever want some space to crash or just if you need a break, my place is always open to you.... as is the fridge, the wine, the gin...... I even have a tent now! No excuses from Oggs now either, what with her passport and all!

LyraSilvertongue · 03/07/2009 16:34

I'm a very proud mummy today.
DSs' school reports came home. DS2 is in the top stream (1 out of 5) for maths and literacy), despite being one of the youngest in the class (late June). My boy's a genius!
DS1 is Mr Average, although he's reached the levels expected at the end of KS1 (group 3 out of 4 for maths and literacy). He's the second youngest in the class (born mid-August) so he's doing well IMO.

Berrie · 03/07/2009 16:50

Ahhhh, well done miniLyra's!

Berrie · 03/07/2009 16:53

Thanks Zeb...Gin, Cornwall, what a fabulous combination!

oggsfrog · 03/07/2009 19:45

Thanks Zeb . It would be lovely, and one day I will take you up on that, but for the time being funds and time do not allow.

Wouldn't it be great if we could have a meet up to go see New Moon together (sadly again, funds and money wouldn't allow). We need a lust object as a focus

OP posts:
Berrie · 03/07/2009 19:58

How much does it cost you Oggs? Maybe we could have a whip round!

Berrie · 03/07/2009 19:59

Or maybe we fancy a night in Glasgow?

oggsfrog · 04/07/2009 09:48

It's not so much the travel it's the accommodation. Maybe we should go camping .

Bloody brakes have finally seized up on the car so I can't take dd to her riding club . Dh has gone off tree cutting in the truck so I'm stuck here with no excuse not to do the tidying/washing etc.

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 05/07/2009 01:38

If accommodation is the main expense, maybe you should all come to London. I could put you all up in the front room (it would be like a camping experience). Or maybe we could all descend upon Zeb with her multitude of spare bedrooms.

Berrie · 05/07/2009 07:36

Morning all.

Anyone doing anything nice today? I went to bed at half 8 so I souldn't be so pissed off at having to get up at 7 am should I. I'll feel better once the paper has come.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 05/07/2009 07:46

Mornin Just waiting for DH to drive over so he can take me to collect my car from where I left it yesterday. I went to a bbq then blagged a lift home as I decided not to stay over. Now I'm here and my car's there.

And DS won his first Young Handler cup at the village show yesterday. Bless him. And another first for painting a flower pot. Clearly a genius.

Yep, loads of space here.

Berrie · 05/07/2009 09:46

What was he handling?

When is ex dh's treatment?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 05/07/2009 16:29

A South Devon calf. Bless.
xDH now has a 2 month wait or some such. All a bit rubbish really.

Berrie · 05/07/2009 17:04

Ah....is there a picture? How old is he now?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 05/07/2009 17:40

4! There will be a photo, but I left my phone behind yesterday and should get it back tomorrow. All very cute
