Number 13?

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 11/06/2009 11:16

Isn't he just Zeb ?

The screenplay really has very little in common with the book, which is a shame, as I remember the book as being very spooky and atmospheric - a good old devil worshipper/occult novel.
(I used to read quite a lot of Dennis Wheatley type novels when I was an angsty teen )

Worth watching purely for the RPattz fest though, no?

What do you watch all the re-runs on?
I've yet to try to watch anything, as I think our speed, albeit classed as broadband, is too slow.

oggsfrog · 11/06/2009 16:59

Passport progress...

I've picked up the application forms and a copy of dd's full birth certificate.

Marriage certificate translation is in the post to me (I'm really, really hoping that the document we signed does confirm our marriage and is not in fact an order for two portions of pad thai and a mango lassi ).
I've checked with the Post Office and they are currently getting back passports in about 10 days.
I've lined up a countersignatory for my photos.

Just need to fill them in, get photos and get them checked and sent off.
Looking good!

oggsfrog · 11/06/2009 20:24

What are you both up to?

Just about to have a bath, then we have a choice of Batman - The Dark Knight, or Iron Man.

oggsfrog · 12/06/2009 08:44

Hope Berrie is having a fantastic and stress free holiday.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 12/06/2009 08:48

I know! I hope the sun is shining too!

I'm currently trying to set up my Mac so it talks to my mobile so I can access the internet anywhere. Then it will also sync up my emails, diary and contacts. All a bit complicated to say the least. I think I'm going to have to find a grown up to do it for me!!!

oggsfrog · 12/06/2009 09:22

Don't envy you.
My mobile is so old, basic and knackered that I have to carry a nail around in my pocket to press the buttons as half of them have fallen off .

What do you watch Dr Who etc on? BBC i-player? I must have a try.

LyraSilvertongue · 12/06/2009 13:10

What a morning!
I was woken at 7am by DP sreaming in agony with severe chest pains. He wouldn't let me call an ambulance (didn't want the fuss and neighbours looking etc) so I threw some clothes on, bundled the boys in the car in their dressing gowns and drove him to A&E. Got him in the building, raced home to get the boys ready for school, took them to school then back to the hospital.
By that point, thankfully, they'd ruled out a heart attack. They still haven't given us a diagnosis byut it looks like the virus he's been suffering with all week has got to his heart and inflamed it.
They've given him morphine so he's not in pain but he may have to stay in for a few days to have IV antibiotics.
I've just popped home for some lunch and to get him a few things then back to the hospital before school pick-up time.
Sill man has been working way too hard, despite being ill, and I'm sure that's what's caused this. He's detrmined that they're not keeping him in and he's coming home to do DIY

oggsfrog · 12/06/2009 20:26

Oh no! Hope he's more comfortable now. It must have been frightening for you both.

Have you had a diagnosis? Is he staying in?

LyraSilvertongue · 12/06/2009 20:34

He's much more comfortable now and staying in overnight. Doctors still doing tests. I don't think he's going to drop dead now. It was a bit scary for a while there.

LyraSilvertongue · 12/06/2009 21:46

I'm watching The Haunted Airman. RP much more attractive without the white foundation and bouffant hair. I'm 15 minutes in and he must have smoked at least a million fags already.

LyraSilvertongue · 12/06/2009 22:03

There are too many spiders in this film for my liking. I am an arachnophobe.

oggsfrog · 13/06/2009 09:31

Did you see it through to the end Lyra? Have you too become one of the Robsessed?

As I said, it wasn't the best adaptation, but worth it solely for the almost continuous on-screen dazzle of RP, no?

Hope it is all good new with DP and that he is able to come home soon.

I spent yesterday hatching a chick. The mother had gone off and one of the others was pecking the egg and I was worried that she would try to eat the shell and kill the chick, so I brought it indoors and put it in the incubator.
It's now back with it's mum and hopefully will have some siblings, although if the smell was anything to go by I think the remaining eggs were rotten.

LyraSilvertongue · 13/06/2009 09:35

No, started falling asleep (had had a busy day) so I've saved the rest. Not the greatest film but RP is in virtually every scene so worth watching just for that.
No news on DP yet. I've texted him but no reply. Maybe he's having another ECG.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 13/06/2009 10:40

Morning all. Any news on DP yet Lyra? Sounds awful, poor guy.

Oggs, I watch tv using the BBC iplayer, or the Channel 4 equivalent or whatever, on my laptop. Quite amazing really.

My head hurts. The mean girls came over and made me drink lots of wine

LyraSilvertongue · 13/06/2009 12:03

Did they force feed it to you Zeb?
What kind of Mac have you got? I've got a white MacBook, which is my most prized possession.
DP going stir crazy waiting to be released from hell hospital.

oggsfrog · 13/06/2009 12:38

I drank wine last night too and ate loads of munchy things.

Must give i-player a go.

I'm thinking about getting an MP3 player. How do I get my albums onto it? Does it convert them itself?
Where can I buy tracks?

So, is dh being released this afternoon Lyra?

oggsfrog · 13/06/2009 13:37

Sod that for a game of spiders.

I just downloaded all the i-player stuff and tried to watch Robin Hood. Apparently I have "insufficient bandwidth to stream".

Okay. I can't watch online (which means there is loads and loads I can't access), so I tried to download instead to watch later.

Pah!. One Robin Hood episode of 45 mins is going to take an estimated 17 odd hours to download! . Think I'll give it a miss after all .

LyraSilvertongue · 13/06/2009 17:57

Get an iPod, download iTunes onto your computer, all songs you download go into iTunes and when you plug your iPod into your computer it will synch with your iTunes music library. It's very simple.

oggsfrog · 13/06/2009 18:25

Bloody hell! They're not cheap.

LyraSilvertongue · 13/06/2009 19:06

No, but worth it.

oggsfrog · 13/06/2009 19:37

Did DP manage to escape? Hope he's feeling better.

Could possibly stretch to an ipod shuffle if I had it as my birthday present.

How much does it cost to download tunes? and can I put my own albums and podcasts (have never actually listened to or downloaded one, but like the idea) onto it?

LyraSilvertongue · 13/06/2009 20:10

DP out of hospital but very tired. He's gone to lie down.
Don't bother with an iPod shuffle - you can't choose what you listen to, you just get a random selection. Look on eBay. That's where I bought my first one.
Songs on iTunes cost 79p each, I think. But there are lots of sites where you can download music free. I use one of these. They're not strictly legal
You can get your own albums on the iPod. ITunes can convert your CDs on your pc. Anything on vinyl will needs a special turntable that converts the music to MP3 files.
You can also put podcasts, photos and videos on to your iPod, depending on which model you get.

LyraSilvertongue · 13/06/2009 20:14

Have a look here

oggsfrog · 13/06/2009 20:43

Poor DP. Any idea what the problem was?

I really can't justify spending more than about £30. Anything will be an improvement.

At the moment in the car I listen to songs taped off the radio, on a portable cassette player .

LyraSilvertongue · 13/06/2009 21:38

Myopericarditis, which basically means the virus attacked his heart. Looks like there's been some damage to the heart but the docs can't say if its permanent or if it could cause future problems.
£30 isn't gonna cut it, Oggs. You can get cheap MP3 players but they ain't the same as an iPod.
