Number 13?

Lovely dress. I wish I had a posh do to wear a frock like that to.
Is it tomorrow you start the new job, Zeb?
Btw, I thought it was much harder for landlords to keep deposits these days. The deposit from our tenants had to go into some special fund and any disputes will be sorted out by a third party who'll ensure the landlord doesn't rip off the tenant. Can you not appeal it or something?

How are you doing Lyra?

Oggs...will you be back properly after next weekend?

MatthewBellamysMuse · 17/05/2009 18:13

Terrible.

LyraSilvertongue · 17/05/2009 18:15

Back to my old (and best) name.

oggsfrog · 17/05/2009 21:00

Yay! Welcome back Lyra.
So sorry you're having a crap time of it... I hope you have RL support and hugs.

Berrie, I'll be back properly after next weekend. Just making flying visits at moment, but thinking of you all.

Zeb, good luck for tomorrow!

LyraSilvertongue · 18/05/2009 10:11

My mistake was declaring myself to be happy. Ye Gods noticed and thought 'Ha! We'll show her'.
What's everyone up to today? I'm working.

Berrie · 18/05/2009 15:41

Oh dear Lyra. What are we going to do with you?

I've been working today too. I've done 4 lessons and one more to go at 5pm. As I woke up at 5am because dh was driving to Devon, I'm knackered!

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 18/05/2009 18:44

Yahooo!!! I got broadband. So at last I can stop whining about Youtube clips. And a new laptop that has the guts to cope. Ah bliss.

Lyra, any improvement, or still not good? I had my first day back at work today. Fortunately, it was an all day meeting about stuff I mostly know already. Tomorrow I shall begin to think about how on earth I'm going to make it all work.

Berrie, why did you have to get up when DH did? That's far too much devotion!!!!

Berrie · 18/05/2009 19:13

Oh I didn't actually get up when he did but I couldn't get back to sleep as my back was really painful so I had a really long bath while the children were still sleeping and read the Sunday papers!

Glad your first day wasn't too traumatic and that you are all teched up!

Berrie · 19/05/2009 07:27

Morning all.
Babysitting the squirrel today. It bit the neighbour this morning and dh (though his skin too tough to break) she said I could perhaps feed him through the bars today instead. I didn't say that that was what i'd done anyway!

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 19/05/2009 10:45

Haven't you eaten it yet?

Berrie · 19/05/2009 14:19

Bleuurgh no thanks...nasty flea bag!

LyraSilvertongue · 19/05/2009 14:47

What is wrong with men!
Arsing builder left a few jobs unfinished and now is refusing to come back and finish them, even though he promised he would. He went ballistic when I asked when he was coming back. Unfortunately I've already paid him. Aaaaaargh!!!
Rant over

LyraSilvertongue · 19/05/2009 14:48

I really have had it with workmen. I'll do everything myself from now on.

Berrie · 19/05/2009 15:36

What needs doing Lyra?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 19/05/2009 15:56

Gah! Blardy workmen. I and DH learnt the hard way never to pay up until they've finished. Can you pursue him legally or is it too much hassle?

oggsfrog · 19/05/2009 16:18

Dh does all our building/DIY/decorating etc so we've never had to use anybody else. I can imagine what a pain it can be though.

Another dead lamb on the school run . That's 6 in a fortnight now. I wish people would take notice of the Drive Slowly signs...

LyraSilvertongue · 19/05/2009 16:22

No, not worth the hassle. It was just a few little-ish things but they will be difficult for me to do myself without the right tools. Also, he's the dad of one of DS1's school friends so I don't want things to turn nasty. I'll just be looking daggers at him across the playground from now on.

Berrie · 19/05/2009 16:25

Is it the same builer as before or a different one?

LyraSilvertongue · 19/05/2009 16:30

Same one. The one I said was 'nice'. Ha!

LyraSilvertongue · 19/05/2009 16:33

Do you think builder school, or wherever it is they learn this stuff, includes a lesson called How To Be a Complete Arse and Guarantee Your Clients Will Never Recommend You To Their Friends?

Berrie · 19/05/2009 16:36

Undoubtedly!

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 19/05/2009 17:31

Cornwall's full of those types. So much for trying to support the local economy.
Oh bugger, that's my new job. But hey, as it's 'collaborative working' I'm doing, maybe our useless builder could work collaboratively with your useless builder.

LyraSilvertongue · 19/05/2009 17:37

There must be some sort of useless builders' network already where they can compare notes on how crap they've been and laugh at us mugs who pays them for it.
The Poles I had in to do the kitchen were a bit surly but at least they did a good job and didn't bugger off at 3pm.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 19/05/2009 17:51

Does this help at all?
