what's up Pippi?

Rosa · 03/12/2008 13:21

Mini Rosa back to birthweight .
she has put on 25g a day in last 2 weeks doc happy says she is gaining piu che bene..Am happy !
Pippi i guess the stress dh etc must be hard hope it gets better.
I read a page of a paper yesterday so thats not too bad !!
Am off to doc as have like arthritic fingers and swollen knuckles - wierd and it is not improving with time also cant get wedding ring on .

PippiCalzelunghe · 03/12/2008 14:11

both. stressed worried for dh (not as straight forward as it seemed) and knackered. also having to drop the kids off like sacchi di patate to friends and childminders every time is getting to me too.
oh I wish I had my mum here [pippi's fighiting back tears].

on my way now, will speak tonight.

(one good thing: went to the opening of this yesterday by chance. photographer was there and few of the writers. it's a min away from hospital. After I was pleased but also felt sorry for myself - think PMS too which does not help. oh well)

PippiCalzelunghe · 03/12/2008 14:11

well done minirosa.

francagoestohollywood · 03/12/2008 15:33

Oh pippi . It must be really hard. But I admire you, as I would have begged my mum to come and lend a hand, had I been in your shoes. So you are doing fantastically, really What is the outlook for dh?

Well done minirosa !

That exhibition pippi, aren't those the same pics issued on the guardian (in the review section) a yr ago?

Pippi - can your mum not use your return Ryan AIr flight and pay the change of name and come over - I know sure there are lots of factors but sending you a big hug and hoping that things get better . Hope it is not to serious with dh after the op can they not move him to a hosp nearer home which might help you a bit.
Went to doc she has given me some tests but she has no idea - might be something post parto seeing as had mega swollen hands and feet in pg anyway will see.

gio71 · 03/12/2008 20:18

How have things been today Pippi? How is dh and how are you now? It must be very hard, it's when something goes wrong that you feel a long way from family in a foreign country isnt it.
Well done minirosa

hothell · 03/12/2008 20:25

Pippi, it must very hard, what is the prognosis like for your dh?
It sounds as if you are feeling overwhelmed by it all, not surprising, 2 kids is bad enough...
I thought the same franca says about the photos, from the guardian no?
I have just seen an interview with the valeria writer you mentioned franca, she is molto simpatica e intelligente, I will try and get the book, don't mind the toughness of the subject.
Good news for minirosa2, rosa i suppose they have ruled out pressione alta no?

hothell · 03/12/2008 20:28

For a bit of property porn: don't you just love the skylight in Martin Amis'room? and it looks as if he hasnt' had time to unwrap his desk..

gio71 · 03/12/2008 20:31

Rosa I had something that seemed like arthritis for nearly a year after ds was born. Swollen knuckles and aching joints, especially in the morning. Touch wood seems to have gone now. I have since heard talk that there is a form of arthritis you can get temporarily after pregnancy, don't know if is true or not.

hothell · 03/12/2008 20:33

and beryl brainbridge isnt' half into her kitch!

PippiCalzelunghe · 03/12/2008 20:35

Feeling a bit better this very minute because kids are in bed and happy and I am stuffing my face with lovely burgers.

without going into too many details it seems that he bemight one of the 2% cases for which the op doesn't work. if that's the case they need to reoperate F5%&$%&&%$K!!!!! If that's the case, yes I'll have to ask my mum to come over. I didn;t want to ask her immediately because in theory she can't take any more hol from work but I know she'd be on the next plane if I ask. Tbh although MIL is lovely I'm very happy on my own. I was a bit down today because I had to find someone to look after the kids at the last minute and I hates having to treat them like luggage IYSWIM. Thank god for the childminder who is priceless.

anyway, to better discussions, yes it is the guy from the guardian. he's now doing it on the telegraph or the times as well I think. I loved it then. If I had some spare cash I'd buy one.

beauv book very good although not as saucy as I thought. handled it very well. def recommended as an auto-xmas present.

PippiCalzelunghe · 03/12/2008 20:37

Oh I tell you my favourite, if it's there... wait...

(when I was at uni mine resembled Will Self but messier.)

when our front room stops being the 'messy room' it'll be my study... I've got vision it will be as glorious.

hothell · 03/12/2008 20:46

agree that when kids are in bed everything seems rosier, couldn't cope with 3.,.
hope things work out for dh re having second operation, very tough for him..
still on saviano which i would read faster if my mumsnet addiction hadn't started again...may even have a peek at babyrazzi..

PippiCalzelunghe · 03/12/2008 20:52

I think with a full belly and feet up everything seems rosier. also seeing kids happy to have had fun rather than 'where have you been mamma' makes such a lot of difference. i'm glad i've got two now because I think dd1 is so much settled having her sister with her. I really wouldn't mind having three but I'd like to give arianna her space first. will see anyway.
only two reason for not having 3: pregnancy and the fear that it'll be the terrible one.

PippiCalzelunghe · 03/12/2008 20:53

ps: I should tidy up. mumsnet addiction easy when without dh.

Sputnik · 03/12/2008 22:07

Glad you're feeling better Pippi, it's true what Gio said that at times like this you really miss having your family close. Hope things go ok for your DH and he doesn't have to be re-operated.

The pic of Will Self's room rung a bell with me too, we are all Guardian readers obviously! The skylight is nice but all those dead leaves piling up, so imprectical . And what's Beryl's gun for?

Great news about mini Rosa, I hope you can start to relax a bit now. Don't know about arthritis, but I was really stiff and sore for months after having DS, I used to feel 100 years old when I got out of bed in the morning. Someone on my PN thread had joint probs too.

PippiCalzelunghe · 04/12/2008 10:44

I said an idiocy re picture reprinted in the times or the telegraph... I must have lost my mind.

no news here yet.

struggling with bloody school application.

francagoestohollywood · 04/12/2008 11:23

We had a similar skylight in the kitchen of our house in the UK (boo hoo I miss you house) and i can confirm that it was a pita, especially when birds decided to use it as a target for their massive poos... (cries even louder thinking that tenants will never clean it)
I like Craig raine's study. Will Self's looks like one of those rooms without a good heating, where you freeze your ass after 2 mins...

Pippi, I hope it's good news today for your dh. Of course it is difficult asking if your mum is still working. But I'm sure your dds will be all right and won't feel like luggage, as you are so loving etc, this will be just another novita' for them .

Rosa, I don't know anything about artrite, I hope the meds will kick in asap. Is the acqua still alta?

Hot, if you want I can post the book for you.

Looks like I'll be working for 2 mornings a week this month, nothing particularly exciting, just helping in a shop, but at least it's something.

Balls! just wrote a long post and then the net wnet down.
Anyway here is the link for outnumbered on iplayer about a family iwth 3 kids, with hugh dennis, it rocks! www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00fpxhl/Outnumbered_Series_2_Episode_1/

Could you really send me the book franca? And then i return it not smeared with raspberry jam? Can we trust le poste italiane? Any book you want from uk, have a big selection here, if you tell me anything you have an itch to read..

Good luck pippi!

Franca how could you go back to smelly milan if you had a house with such a beautiful skylight!

francagoestohollywood · 04/12/2008 12:35

I watched bits of outnumbered on youtube, but found it a bit soppy. Plus I didn't like the children (mean emoticon). Actually, I'd love to watch the remake of survivors on the bbc, starring max beesley, whom - believe it or not - I find quite sexy

Do not worry, all my books are stained in jam/nutella or lemon (I used to eat big wedges of lemon while reading - when I had the time). Email me your address!

Oh don't ask. Our house in Exeter is bloody gorgeous, tis true. And Milan is awful. The traffic is mad. But we wanted to go home.

OP posts:
hothell · 04/12/2008 13:21

Oh, you are mean indeed! The little girl is wonderful (sickly sentimental emoticon)
Survivors is also on iplayer, we missed it so we will watch the first episode tonight, i recently rewatched the original which i loved and found funny too.
I wonder how pippi is doing...

francagoestohollywood · 04/12/2008 13:26

I can't watch things off the bbc website from Italy . Oh god I miss the bbc!!!!

Ok I'll be mean fino in fond and confess that I found the little girl mostly irritating

Yes, I hope she gets good news from the hospital.
