Ciao, hello, welcome!

Dunno . It depends on the ceppo I suppose. Boh. Whatever it is, it is meant to make you feel really bad.

do you think that if an almost 7 year old still wets her pants on a regular basis when out of school (never at school), it shows there is an emotional problem, some sort of hidden anxiety? My dear friend's daughter is like that, and he (my friend) and his wife have tried everytbhing from sticker charts to yelling, bribing, ignoring, etc to make her stop, but she still does...I would think it is anxiety, a sort of crying for help, but what do you think?

PippiCalzelunghe · 28/11/2008 10:37

I agree with you. My friend's boy (5) wetted the bed every night the month before starting reception. it suddenly stopped when after his first day at school.

francagoestohollywood · 28/11/2008 10:48

IT IS SNOWING. A LOT!!!

I don't know really. It might well be a sign of anxiety. What is her behaviour at school? Is she overall a happy child? Poor little thing

OP posts:
gio71 · 28/11/2008 10:51

bless her, i agree, sign of anxiety
chucking it down here, not that am going anywhere, ds now has virus and been sick twice

hothell · 28/11/2008 10:52

She is quite an anxious girl iwth low selfesteem, the parents recognise this, but with the peeing they do not know how to identify the problem, the precise issue. She goes to a very demanding private school, but seems to enjoy it according to her. Boh!

hothell · 28/11/2008 10:54

How lovely milan with the snow, grey in london. How are you coping pippi?
Sto leggendo Gomorra, molto interessante, did you like it?

hothell · 28/11/2008 10:56

ohh, bloody viruses..

PippiCalzelunghe · 28/11/2008 11:02

we are all right. dh is at home but booked for an op on monday ad UCL in Marylebone.
he's super loving as he thinks is spending is last ever days with us .bless.

debating whether to cut my hair short. fed up with looking frumpy all the time. hair def lost shine and body [hairdresser talk amoticon] since dd2.

I did like gomorrah very much. very uncomfortable reading IMO. was not convinced by the movie. Which bit are you hothell. At one point I had to stop for a few days 'cause I fell quite sick.

rain rain here.

francagoestohollywood · 28/11/2008 11:06

oh no Gio! Your poor ds and poor you having to look after a sick baby when you are ill yourself (been there, done that, and will again... )

Hot, have they taken her to see gp already? They need to rule out it is some kind of infection. But I expect they've already done this, if this has been going on for a while.

I have no doubt she enjoys her school, but it can still be a source of anxiety. I suffered of gastrite in my first year of scuola media, as I was desperate to please my professoressa di lettere, who was very strict, but I liked her a lot.

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 28/11/2008 11:07

They need to talk to gp and school, imo

OP posts:
hothell · 28/11/2008 11:24

it cannot be an infection, she never ever pees at school...they are parents with very high expectations and maybe they put too much pressure on her, but i cannot tell them that. anyway you agree that wetting pants at near 7 is not normal, boh.
i am at the beg of gomorra, the bit about angelina jolie's dress - will watch movie on dvd. i must say that saviano is a bit naive, i am not surprised that the comorra vuole farlo fuori, he seems to reveal a lot....do any of you know if he lives still in hiding?

francagoestohollywood · 28/11/2008 11:38

I think he's going to move abroad. And has a scorta.

I'd pretend to be a bit finta tonta and ask them "perhaps the school is pressurizing her??"

OP posts:
hothell · 28/11/2008 14:17

lol at finta tonta [smile

PippiCalzelunghe · 28/11/2008 14:50

when I read it I was surprised he was still alive. But yes he lives in hiding with a scorta. he says he's got no life. writes for la repubblica. I thought him naive too but bloody brave. not that something is going to change unfortunately. this interview with studenti del liceo a casal di principe makes for some unconfortable watching too.
the angelina jolie bit is really but trust me it gets much much worse. good luck.

PippiCalzelunghe · 28/11/2008 14:51

how are your two little ones doing hot? are you here for xmas or italy?

PippiCalzelunghe · 28/11/2008 15:02

ecco gli articoli di saviano.

Rosa · 28/11/2008 18:37

pippi hope all goes well with your Dh - mmm hot sounds a bit traumatic for you - hope that things get sorted soon .
Gio GET WELL - if it is the flu stay in bed and get dp to do all !
DD1 has nasty cold and cough coming on - I am waiting to see who gets it next - me for sure as I always get her bugs- also don't believe that when you are bf you are better protected. I just hope dd2 is ok !
G parents leave domani so I guess the trauma will really step in mum has been fantastic and I am going to miss her so much .
Rain , wind , high water here its foul !

francagoestohollywood · 28/11/2008 19:03

Lots of snow here, ds said this has been the best day of his life

Rosa, I'm pretty sure you'll do fantastically even without your mother (who sounds amazing). We are here to hold your hand anyway, I was pleading my mum to stay, when dd was a baby and we had 2 under 2s under the roof...

I really need to read gomorra, don't i? What is this angelina jolie dress thing?

Gio how are things going?

OP posts:
Sputnik · 28/11/2008 21:58

Hothell, if this girl's problem isn't physical then by default something is going on, sounds like some kind of stress, it's tricky and I'm not sure what I'd do in your situation. Anyway, poor thing.

Finta tonta, I'll have to remember that one

You have made me want to read Gommora now, although it's rare I read anything in Italian (really ought to more).

Hope all goes smoothly for your DH Pippi.

francagoestohollywood · 28/11/2008 22:46

Sputnik, I think gomorra might have been translated into English (have vague memories of seeing it at waterstones, but I must be wrong)

We have neglected the project of the book swap... and I'm wasting too much money on Amazon

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 28/11/2008 22:47

I might be wrong

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 28/11/2008 23:40

it has but it must be read in italian if you can.

gio71 · 29/11/2008 09:46

Gomorra is available in English Sputnik, I got one from Feltrinelli's or am sure Amazon would have it.My brother has my copy at the moment otherwise would lend it to you. Definitely worth reading, just exposes it for what it is away from the glamour of Hollywood and the Sopranos! I think Saviano must have known the response his book would get surely, he knows that world and grew up as part of it. Poor guy though, must be an horrendous way to live.
DS no longer being sick, he seems loads better now. I am on the mend but exhausted. It's amazing seeing how ds has sprung back from it with ususal level of energy, just shows fact I cant do that means am getting older
Funny moment the other evening when dp did his martyr bit and stayed in when was ill, ds was sick all over him. Poor ds but at dp. Vengeance was sweet
Rosa hope all goes well when g parents go back, when are you next seeing them?
Hope all goes well with DH Pippi, keep us posted.

francagoestohollywood · 29/11/2008 10:39

You are so right Gio, even a small cold can destroy me for a few days. 3 yrs ago I got varicella from ds, it took me weeks to feel better!

Pippi, when is your dh checking into hospital? Keep us posted!

We are at my mum's, she lives nr nice giardinetti, so the children have gone to play with my dad and dh. I stayed inside, pretending to do the f24 for my tax, but i'm mneting instead!
