Oh well, get used to it as it does not come back

Where is gio? Do you think she's jumped the gun (is this the right expression?) and got married?

Franca. Noooooo nothing that exciting , am just having to work very very hard as have very very large amounts of money to earn to pay off debts have got into with move .
Only just finished now for evening so relaxing with wine, a West Wing box set and mumsnet. Need to catch up with what have missed.
Had a very quick skim though, Rosa the fact that you are already doing accounts is amazing I think!

francagoestohollywood · 20/11/2008 22:09

Oh the West Wing... I loved it. But found very difficult to understand what they actually said . I now have 2 boxsets waiting for me, so I can watch them with subtitles

Off to bed now, come back soon Gio

dh is unwell again ...

francagoestohollywood · 21/11/2008 10:33

Oh no Pippi , do you think it is a "ricaduta"? or is it something different? Bugs are creeping up at this time of the year. The "australiana" flu has arrived here.

hothell · 21/11/2008 10:52

povera te pippi, devi portarlo dal gp?

gio71 · 21/11/2008 12:17

poor you Pippi, what's wrong, is it the same as before?

Rosa · 21/11/2008 12:50

Gio my brain is fuzzled I have to do everything 3 times.
Pippi is it Dh lung again or has he got more nasty symptoms ? - Hope its sorts itself out soon sending moral support to you all.
DD2 has only put on 50g in a week but doc is lovely and pretty chilled ( I am so glad we got this one - he has a waiting list and when we went to register dd1 there was 1 space only !) I can give a bottle late pm and another if I feel she is not saitsfied . He suggestes pumping mid morning to see if I can get enough for a bottle feed in the pm but not to get stressed out about it. To latch her on 7-8 times a day - more if feel she is hungry to use my instinct ( if I am happy with it) and try to relax and rest ...mmmm he did say the last 2 are harder to do than the rest. Anyway we will see am unsure if to go to this lactaction lady this pm or not will decide later.
Madonna della salute today instead of a candle I told dh to light a bonfire as we need all the auguri for salute we can get !!!
Must do another fattura .....

francagoestohollywood · 21/11/2008 13:17

Rest and relax??? he must be kidding!!! .
50 gr, she has improved compared to last week, hasn't she? I hope she's just turned the corner ...
Have you got a good breast pump? I once tried an electric medela, and was really impressed.

OP posts:
Rosa · 21/11/2008 14:04

I have a crappio Chicco hand pump thing which is about 5 yrs old and its sitting in Milton right now - If I can get sufficient with the crappio one then I will go and get a decent one but they are a bit expensive and dh not keen on renting one from farmacia !!!
yes 50 g is up so Iam pleased plus she has a chubby face and everybody says how good in salute she looks !!!!

francagoestohollywood · 21/11/2008 14:07

Yes, they are v. expensive. I borrowed the electric medela from a friend...

Brangelina · 21/11/2008 14:13

That's brilliant news Rosa! 50g. is actually quite good, when DD ahd her 10 day check she'd only put on 40g. but the paed said that it was more than fine and a lot of babies were still losing at that stage.

Re the breast pump, I found the Chicco not very good at all, the Avent one was better but I'm sure an electric one is better still. At the very least you won't get a stiff wrist. Tell your DH that renting a pump is def cheaper than buying formula! I've heard they make a lot of noise though, so you might have to segregate yourself when others are trying to watch TV.

Pippi - what happened to your DH? Is it the pneumotorace again? I hope he gets better soon.

Brangelina · 21/11/2008 14:19

Does anyone know what I can use to replace baking powder? I've tried using just bicarbonato but it doesn't quite do the trick and the lievito vanigliato stuff is excessive for my purposes (want to make American pancakes this weekend). Actually, can you make them with SR flour? All the recipes I've ever seen ahve been plain flour + baking powder, never SR flour. Is there a reason?

BTW Rosa, I am very impressed at you doing accounts in any form so soon after giving birth. I'd have got all the figures totally muddled up. You should tell your DH you're on maternity leave.

francagoestohollywood · 21/11/2008 14:30

so isn't baking powder the same as lievito vanigliato? I'd try the sr flour.
I want to make your choc cake tomorrow. can I use normal panna instead of creme fraiche?

OP posts:
hothell · 21/11/2008 16:13

surely sr is fine?

PippiCalzelunghe · 21/11/2008 16:21

How do you make your american pancakes then? I don;t use any baking soda. I fluff the whites and then mix ti with the rest (as in tiramisu). It makes them all chunky but light. tell me your recipe though, might be better.

Yes it's the same again. he had to go to A&E again and doctor told him he need an operation. She let him go home as no point in putting drip at this stage as it'll deflate again once out. He'll need an op soon. She told him to be sensible otherwise she'll keep him in. well he's gone back to work!!!!! he's an idiot!!!

PippiCalzelunghe · 21/11/2008 16:22

sorry for repetions but I am so cross!!!

PippiCalzelunghe · 21/11/2008 16:23

r e p e t i t i o n s !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

francagoestohollywood · 21/11/2008 17:18

an operation . When??? Now or in 6 months time?

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 21/11/2008 17:33

don't know. who knows how nhs 'soon' translates in real terms...

PippiCalzelunghe · 21/11/2008 17:33

probably tomorrow seeing how sensibly he is acting.

Rosa · 21/11/2008 17:49

Oh heck Pippi agree he is being very silly - hope he does come home and rest !
Brang re baking powder - I would SR flour it should work ok. DO you need some B powder as I have sis / dad coming out next week and they can get some for you.
Accounts - I just do the fatture / add Iva and then tell dh to cross check that I have billed the right people. The agency rates are more of a problem I have really had to try and concentrate but we have to go through them tonight to make sure I have not stuffed it all up ... Thing is it comes easier to me than dh and once this is done then thats it I am on mat leave !!!!

francagoestohollywood · 21/11/2008 17:59

Sounds complicated to my ears rosa

Oh dear Pippi ... never really understand... surely if he needs urgent operation they should ricoverare? Or not????
