does your dh run his own business or can he go on sickness leave, surely if he is unwell he should be in bed. when is the operation? is it a complicated one? sounds stressfull for you, when i worked, a simple cold would have kept at home

hothell · 21/11/2008 21:35

drunk?! what have you been up to then ... ???

francagoestohollywood · 22/11/2008 10:01

Just a few glasses of beer and a few cigarettes at a friend's. We had a chinese takeway and were supposed to re-watch "ten things I hate about you", like proper teenagers... we didn't watch the movie and just chatted.
I do recommend the movie, great teenage film. And Heath Ledger was bravissimo and fichissimo

happychappy · 22/11/2008 13:15

Pippi, i'm sorry, thinking of you all

You can get baking powder in Lidl. Saw it there yesterday.

I need to ask smeone about what to do about money next week!

Brangelina · 22/11/2008 14:26

Thanks for the tips, I'll try SR until I get the chance to pop into Lidl, or even Superpolo (they had some there years ago when they were selling Xmas cake for £££££, maybe not any more).

Pippi, I was thinking of using the Nigella recipe, which is a bit like this

I'm sorry about your DH. Men are daft, they're at death's door with a cold but insist on being martyrs with the serious stuff. I've never understood the logic.

Hothell your DD is beautiful. I'm getting seriously broody with all these baby pics but it's not allowed, plus I'm probably too old[ anyway.

Happychappy what advice do you need? Are you having a difficult time with money too?

francagoestohollywood · 22/11/2008 14:43

Yes Happychappy, ask away!

What would you to with a leaking mixing taps (non si chiude piu'? No one I know knows how to fix it, I called the plumber 3 times in 5 days and he hasn't showed up. Today it is not just drops but rigolo d'acqua . I feel as if I'm wasting all the water of the acquedotto

happychappy · 22/11/2008 17:26

No I haven't taken partire IVA yet and think I might have to. I want to know what benefit is it to me and how much is it going to cost me. I hate the Italian tax system

happychappy · 22/11/2008 17:30

BTW LIDL have some great cheap chocolate

happychappy · 22/11/2008 17:30

BTW LIDL have some great cheap chocolate

Rosa · 22/11/2008 17:37

I was going to get a partita Iva as well but decided against it until I go back to work for sure . Purely as this thing that you have to pay your tax in advance on how much they think you will earn - Then I had dd2 so that was that for now...But I guess in the future I will have to depending on what I end up doing.
DD2 having a day night problem AHHHH gues that will pass. Brange you forget about thes bits. Oh and the HUGE floppy fatty bit round your middle that now dd2 lies nicely on when bf but Oh it is scary how the hell am I going to get rid of that ?????
Franca is it not the seal in the tap ??? Hope your plumber does not come domani it will cost you a fortune.

happychappy · 22/11/2008 17:40

I've gt no idea how much I will earn next week let alone for the next year!!!!!!

Def need an accountant

Brangelina · 22/11/2008 18:25

Yes, get an accountant to advise you. I looked into it a few years ago but decided against it, for the reasons Rosa stated. A friend of mine who is libera professionaista told me it's like putting up a flag for the tax office to get you to regalare soldi in anticipo. I think it depends on your line of work too - said friend has a job where he needs to buy a lot to carry out his work (computers, cars, spare parts etc.) so it was worthwhile because he had a lot to "scaricare". In my line of work I'd have been able to scaricare very little so would have been paying lots of tax.

Rosa, a I remember the in-built bfing pillow well. In some ways it's still there, albeit slightly reduced and possibly shifted around to my bum. I never had the day/night thing because my DD slept through pretty much from day 1 (but never napped during the day). Take heart that feeding mainly at night is soooo good for your supply, all that prolactin stimulation. I used to have to set the alarm to pump.

Franca, would it not be the washer/guarnizione? Have you tried taking the tap apart? Can you not switch the water off at the mains at least overnight to lessen your guilt at the waste?

Happychappy, we know all about Lidl chocolate in the Brange household. DP pops in when he goes to Milan and the sacchetto is pieno di cioccolato. Our fridge is groaning under the weight of Lidl chocolate and not much else. I love the almond one.

happychappy · 22/11/2008 18:33

I just found these lovely little cube things. I ate a packet on my own yesterday. I'm going to finally put some weight n at this rate!

Thanks Brange for the confirmation that I need to get sorted. Bit frightened of the finacial police (though have client that is one).

Been looking at beagles on the internet today. I want a girlfriend for my baby boy. (the dog I mean and yes he is a baby. But unluck my real life son he'll never betray me by growing up and getting a wife etc.)!

francagoestohollywood · 22/11/2008 20:48

I haven't a clue about partita iva, my brother had one, when he was doing some free lance work, but got rid of it.

The tap: there is no way I'm going to call an emergency plumber, fear not, as it's going to cost the earth. I went into a state of panic this afternoon at six as a constant rivolo d'acqua was coming out of it and I just can't find the mains . Under the sink there is a rubinetto to close the water to washing machine and one for dishwasher, but nothing else . My landlord wasn't home either! I started to swear and shout and gave a big push to the handle. I heard a "clack" . And it close. . Now I just dread open it again!
So I still have dinner plates around (lots of it, as friends with their dds came for cena). What am I to do?

Should I wait for dh to come home from holland (he should be here in an hr)? Should I welcome him with a big tidying up to do?
I'd love to, as he keeps traveling for work and I'm exhausted. I spent the whole day shouting at the children . I looked like Verdone's wife in bianco rosso e verdone, the one who locked her self in the toilet saying "non ce la faccio piu'" with a piemontese accent

OP posts:
Brangelina · 22/11/2008 20:58

Yes, wait for your dh to get home. They secretly like these "manly" tasks, makes them feel all strong and masculine. For effect you can even ooh and ahh at his plumbing prowess while he wrestles with the pipes.
Re the dishes, just bung everything into the dishwasher and have picnic food tomorrow that can be eaten on napkins (you can tell I've been there, can't you?). Alternatively, go out for an all-you-can-eat brunch (Joe Pena's in via Savona does a good one) and you won't have to feed anyone for the rest of the day.

For tonight, go to bed with a book and a tisana and mention in a pathetic shaky voice that have qualche linea di febbre and just can't face the mess.... Lol at Verdone's wife!

Does he still have lots of travelling to do? You need a cleaning lady or something or you will go mad. Much sympathy.

francagoestohollywood · 22/11/2008 21:00

I feel like her

OP posts:
Brangelina · 22/11/2008 21:02

Lol! You'll need to work on the hair though!

francagoestohollywood · 22/11/2008 21:07

No, he (who is an OK dyier) has refused to have anything to do with the bloody tap since it started leaking (10 days ago). I rang the plumber (3 times). I even tried with a friend's brother, who does all sorts of things, but didn't want to have anything to do with the tap.

Anyway, in my hissing fit, I seemed to have fix the tap, possibly not permanently.

Anyway he is here and cleaning up, bless him .

I do have a cleaning lady and I'm usually fine/organized etc, it was just today, I must be pre-mestrual and everything seemed fastidioso, the children felt demanding and I just wanted a bit of space.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 22/11/2008 21:13

I've been shouting at mine too. She's started being silly about going to bed and after the 50th time of asking her to put her pyjamas on I do lose it a bit. We've now had 4 nights of no story because she takes so long messing about and ignoring me instead of doing as she's asked that there's no time. She then gets upset about the lack fo story but then does exactly the same the next night. It's very wearing and I'm starting to get wound up about bedtimes, which is counterproductive I know.

Oh well, maybe in a few days I'll be calmer. It probably is pmt.

Brangelina · 22/11/2008 21:15

I know a cheap plumber - the guy who did our bathroom - but he may well be too busy as well. I could email you his details if you like.
