I think you can get hold of Floradix in Italy too. Another tip is to take the iron tabled with san pellegrino aranciata ...

Email me brange, lets arrange something. Have gone to Superpolo after lezione di aqua gym and got red thai curry paste. plus some poncey rice.

Brang thank you - Eggs just turn my stomach at the thought it is like I am back in the 1st 3 mths smell of raw fish makes me heave !
I will try the rasins - not too keen on the nuts but will try that. Not keen on porridge either but can do the wheatgerm maybe with some yoghurt and fruit first thing. Will go to health food shop domani and see what I can find.
Franca yes you have right address its me - have replied.
Dh said he fancied a curry the other day -I don't right now but I think it is more a panic of what might happen after !

francagoestohollywood · 16/10/2008 18:00

. great!

Gosh, sorry to hear that the digestion is disappointing rosa. I'm here trying to remember what disgusted me when pg (and I'm sure I was disgusted by something) and I CAN'T REMEMBER . It seems ages ago

Lol at the iron tablet with aranciata! Does it give you a high? I remember a paracetamol with Coke (as in cola!) used to make me go doolally. I was a cheap date, I can tell you.

I couldn't stomach eggs either, just the smell used to make me heave. Can you manage meat or pulses? If you're not keen on nuts, can you not make muffins or cakes with lots of dried fruits, molasses, wheatgerm and ground up nuts and seeds? Makes it so much more pleasant ingesting the stuff.

I was going to suggest Floradix too, never tried it myself but so many people rave about it. I think I saw it in Naturasì.

DD has a fidanzato already, I've never seen him but apparently they kiss and hold hands all day.

Franca, you go to acquagym? I'm impressed at your energy.

francagoestohollywood · 16/10/2008 19:48

. I remember aspirina with coke was supposed to give you a high and smoking banana peels... never tried, as I was quite straight as a teenager... I rebelled in my 20s . No apparently the orange juice helps digesting the iron tablet and the best - they say - it is san pellegrino aranciata.

Energy? nah, I'm a wreck. Have been running around the whole week (and I walk a lot), I had a sleepless night the other day worrying about stuff, and the aqua gym has been the last straw. But it is nice. I go to piscina solari with 2 friends of mine. The course started mid sept but with periods, bodily hair and general laziness I managed to go twice

Rosa · 16/10/2008 20:07

Good idea about the muffins as could do some for me and dd can do hers. I think I will hunt out that Floradix or get some tablets they gave me this liquid stuff and it looks horrible - I am quite keen on aranciata and also sprite ( not before getting pg!!) but I water it down so I don't feel too guilty and also I have to make sure I am alone when the aria comes back up !!!!
Am 100% off meat esp red meat . Manage chicken a bit forget fish its cheese basically. Strange as with dd1 I was fine right to the end and ate everything .
Whats the correct italian for wheatgerm ???
Off to bed now ...Notte guys we have no boats at 4 am tom thank heavens as it seems that the bad weather has missed us and the fog is out there again !

Brangelina · 16/10/2008 20:16

germe di grano. I warn you, it doesn't taste very nice on its own, but mixed into things and covered with other flavours it becomes more manageable. You can fling handfuls of the stuff in soups and casseroles, but I must admit i've never tried that as never really appealed. Forgot to mention, you should try to down some vit C when you eat iron rich food, helps a lot with absorption (hence the san pellegrino). Something like broccoli/cauliflower/coste ecc is perfect as it contains both iron and vit C, but other things will need a helping hand, so consume with either fresh fruit, fresh juice or a salad.

Franca, is that twice since the beginning of Sept? Tut tut
Mind you, I haven't been back to the gym at all and my days lately involve a lot of sitting around on my wobbly bum, so who am I to criticise.

francagoestohollywood · 16/10/2008 21:10

Ehm, twice from mid september . But yes, basically I'm hopeless. But very hairy as you know... so had to skip a few lessons before a good waxing...

hi all from new flat! we have internet connection hurrah! love flat altho is v empty as Ikea screwed up order so still waiting for delivery promised 2 weeks ago. They are now saying def next week! Was glad to leave mosquito ridden garden behind (seemed like a great idea at beginning and wasnt!) and am v happy with little balcony. ds still sleeping with us as his room is dumping ground for all boxes we cant empty due to lack of furniture. But who cares, I love my new home and ds loves extra space. Am being very restrained re Zara home as thinking have spent fortune on furniture and stuff so my soft furnishings can wait til Jan sales (getting excited at the thought already).
Anyway off to have a nose at what have missed, how are you all??

francagoestohollywood · 16/10/2008 22:08

Gio, we missed you!! I thought you had moved into zara home actually...
I'm glad to hear you are so enthusiastic of new flat (and you have an internet connection already? It took me ages to get one!) .

But you must go to zara home. You deserve it... Can you restrain yourself and buy just ONE cushion cover ????????

DelGirl · 17/10/2008 08:22

ciao I got back on Monday but it's been a bit hectic here ever since with work and sadly my FIL passed away on Wednesday I was hoping to go and see him today too. No surpise really but none the less.

Anyhow, I met with the lovely Sputnik and her lovely family and she made me feel very welcome, thank you . I think I made you a bit nervous though and my full on dd is something to behold . I think my dicing with death experience in Sputniks home town is something I won't forget in a hurry either. You must have thought I was a loon

Pisa was.......Pisa. Oh how I love the countryside and Rome, I love Rome but we didn't see it this time round. I can't wait to come back now. Am getting things into place. Will have to sign off now as have much to do. Hope you're all well

francagoestohollywood · 17/10/2008 11:05

Ciao delgirl, welcome back . Very sorry to hear about the death of your fil .

So, did Italy live up to your expectations? I really hope you had a lovely time. What happened in Sputnik's home town??? She told us you met and had pizza together but didn't mention any loonyness

It's a glorious sunny day in Milan and me and ds went to the manifestazione, there were lots of children and lots of striscioni, he really liked it and walked a lot. It was great to walk in the streets without cars (poor automobilisti weren't happy though)

OP posts:
Brangelina · 17/10/2008 11:54

Hello Gio, we did wonder whether you were too busy lolling about enjoying your new pad or jumping into piles of cushions at Zara Home. I understand re the boxes, luckily we have a cellar but there's still an awful lot of stuff lying arouns my flat that hasn't found its place yet.

It's a lovely day here too, am just on my way out to do some shopping. Ooh about the manifestazione, we don't have one here I don't think. I love Milan without cars and am afraid I don't feel sorry about the automobilisti at all. Let them get out and walk!

francagoestohollywood · 17/10/2008 12:11

[I just don't feel sorry for automobilisti either... but didn't want to sound too radical ]

And can I rant about my f fastweb connection? It doesn't work for hrs at least once a day and when it does is really slow. crappola.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 17/10/2008 12:12

It's not just fstweb, lbero has its crap moments too. I always suspect that someone has hacked onto my line and is downloading films.

Brangelina · 17/10/2008 12:15

Must go out and get some shopping in, I have no food at all in my house, not even crap to snack on.

Did you know that Esselunga di via Ripamonti is the most economical supermarket in Milan? According to Altro Consumo, that is. DP has done an abbonamento, tis very interesting reading.

francagoestohollywood · 17/10/2008 12:40

It is possible. Also, if dh is connected to the internet in the living room from the laptop, I can't connect from the computer in our bedroom.

I know, I read the same issue of altro consumo the other week. My pil buy Altro consumo occasionally. It's my local (ish) esselunga

Welcome back Delgirl, sorry to hear about your FIL. And don't worry about your DD, all 3 year olds are a bit full on, aren't they?

Anyway, I didn't tell you all but Delgirl got sent the wrong way to my house by her satnav, and ended up stuck on a hill, I think her hire car will probably never be the same again!
