yes, i am looking forward to watching this tonight, martin has been with him for about 8 months or somethings, so we should get a good idea what he is like, i am interested to see if i change my opinion of him, because i just think that he is a freak. My dh was a big fan when he was younger, and it will be interesting, because from the media point of view he is somewhat or a weird one.

This has got to be a must!

jessi · 03/02/2003 22:20

Anyone else switched off? I just bolted when he was feeding that little baby boy with the shawl over his head. Maybe its my pregnancy hormones on overdrive but he really gives me the creeps.
Bleughh.
Meanwhile DH and I had a debate over whether MJ would get paid for this interview?

Bobbins · 03/02/2003 22:23

jessi> yes> bleurgh too, but I'm sticking it out.

Nutjob · 03/02/2003 22:24

Jessi, feel just the same, and I'm not pregnant, I couldn't watch a second more - those poor children. I thought I would watch it to see if it changed my opinion of him - it didn't. The man is a freak. I understand that he had an awful childhood, but that doesn't excuse the way he is f**king up those childrens lives

Bobbins · 03/02/2003 22:24

I don't believe he is the father of those children, not at all.

viksy · 03/02/2003 22:26

I know, I was screaming at the tv 'stop bouncing him and take that b**y scark off his face'. I thought it was v. strange him running off with his daughter just after she was born. And did his wife just have his children for money? Im still watching in morbid fascination though!

thumper · 03/02/2003 22:49

YUGH! Whoever thought this would be a good idea for Michael Jackson's image got it SO WRONG. But how can you make someone like him look good? Please, someone, get those children out of there! AND he's not even a good liar, although he should be, the amount of times he has tried. Two operations on nose and no plastic surgery apart from that, yeah right. AND I used to be huge fan (ok, twenty years ago and before the face lift).

Tinker · 03/02/2003 22:51

I assumed I'd be utterly revolted by him by I wasn't. He just seems so lonely and f*ed up. That trip to the shopping mall to buy the most hideous items for one of his homes seemed so pleasureless.

AngieL · 03/02/2003 22:51

I can't believe that some parents are happy for their kids to be sleeping in the same bedroom as him! Are they totally mad? I wouldn't let him within a million miles of my kids.

RosieT · 03/02/2003 22:54

DEEPLY disturbing, is all I can say. And did anyone else clock that terrible painting of Michaelangelo's David with MJ's head on it, surrounded by all those cherubs ? WELL spooky!
(But thought the way the camera kept panning down to that antique shop manager rubbing his hands ? for about 20 minutes ? was mildly amusing).

I don't know, ks ? I mean it must be tricky interviewing someone who's spent their life surrounded by people paid to say 'yes', & there obviously had been some kind of confidentiality agreement for the interview to go ahead (and apparantly loads of footage was binned as a result). Felt he did attempt to give MJ sufficient rope to hang himself. Mind you, how do you interview someone THAT wierd?

Xanthe · 03/02/2003 23:13

After he denied so vehemently that he hadn't had any plastic surgery, well not that he could remember, well just his nose and well perhaps one other operation, I couldn't believe anything else he said. His comments were very two-faced. The incident with the baby was particularly disturbing. It was obvious he didn't have a clue about caring for or comforting a young child - and to call him Blanket, even if it was meant to be an affectionate nickname, struck me as grossly offensive, as if the baby wasn't a person but just another of his possessions. The man is living in a detached fantasy world where fame and money seem to allow him to get away with anything - a very dangerous combination.

kkgirl · 03/02/2003 23:16

I think MJ is completely insane

jodee · 03/02/2003 23:25

I felt sorry for him, he had such a hideous childhood at the hands of his father. He seems totally deluded and extremely naive; he may be 'sharing his bed' with children in total innocence (although I can't quite 100% swallow that) but I can easily see another 'Jordan' case in a few years time when a teenager (or their parents) sees any easy opportunity to make money.

jasper · 03/02/2003 23:34

I Liked him
He might be a bit mad but not bad.

anais · 04/02/2003 00:00

I have come away from it feeling very sorry for him - he had an awful childhood - but that does not excuse everything else.

He lives in a different world, and I think it's wrong to bring children into that. As has been said, obviously not his kids, and I can't imagine any mother handing their child over to someone like that. I DO think he cared about them, loved them even but he behaves like a child and is just too naive and irresposible to be trusted with someone elses life. Covering their faces like that is just sick. It's just unexcusable. He's treating them as just another possession and those kids are going to grow up with such distorted views. I felt the stories about the births - taking his daughter away from the hospital - was made up. I think a lot of it was made up. The plastic surgery thing was laughable.

The thing about the children staying with him was frightening - I can't beleive any parent would allow their children to stay with him - unless as Jodee suggests, they are looking at it as a way of making money from him in the future.

He is incredibly naive and quite pathetic really, but to be honest I wouldn't give a about his eccentricities if it wasn't for those kids. He can do what the hell he pleases, but screwing up kids' lives like that is just wrong.

EmmaTMG · 04/02/2003 07:19

They were talking about the programme on This Morning yesterday and Fern said that the rest of the brothers have denied that the abuse went on when they were kids and I have to say I have heard that before but can't remember where.
I agree with alot of comments here that I think alot of it was made up and personally I feel that he's such a freak that it's impossible to tell where the lies stop and the truth begins (excluding the plastic surgery of course....a blatant lie!!).
At the start of the programme I actually thought 'oh he's quite sweet really' he seemed quite nice but by the end I was horrified by everything he did and said...when he was feeding the baby with the scarf over it'd head it made my blood run cold. My DH made a good point too, as he loved children so much what's going to happen when his 'own'(don't believe for one second that he fathered those kids!) become adults? will he shun them in favour for his next 'accessory'.
The man is a total freak and those perants who let their kids stay at his house need to do a little research into his history about 'alledged' sexual abuse, maybe then they wouldn't take such stupid risks with their children.
Ohhh I didn't realise I was so mad about this until I started writing this. Rant over!

breeze · 04/02/2003 07:57

Oh my god, i started watching the programme and felt sorry for him AT FIST, but by the end i thought he was even more of a freak then i did before hand, those poor children.

I think the shopping trip was just a show off thing for martin, he picked out half a million pound items like i do cans in the supermarket.

Can't believe that he lied so many times.

I also had heard somewhere before that Michael's memories of his childhook do not mirror the others, maybe he exagerated because that was the only card he had to gain sympathy, totally wrong.

I mean can he really only remember have 2 operations, is that 200 in jackson's world.

He said he had a relationship with the 3rd babies mother and then later said she was a surrogate. Liar.

Whay parent in there right mind would allow there child within 2 feet of jackson, let alone sleep in his room. creepy.

The baby business made me feel ill.

The funny part was that stupid fan who cuddled jackson, then collapsed on the floor crying as if she had just been stabbed.

I thought he was a freak before hand and after watching this i think he is a very sad, lonely, creepy, man instead.

i want to adopt a boy and girl from every continent (ah don't let him and take away the ones he has now)

CAM · 04/02/2003 09:19

I had to hang on every word as I could not believe what I was hearing (and seeing). What a warped world those kids of his live in seeing through masks and scarves all the time. Babies hate things covering their faces, naturally they feel panicky about breathing. I found the whole thing morbidly fascinating and completely gross at the same time. Those children should be rescued immediately.

mam · 04/02/2003 09:35

Just goes to show what money can do. Anyone else would have been admitted for treatment by now. As for the children (his?) the mothers of the children need treatment too surely? + they will never be able to lead normal lives as they are not being brought up normal it's a bit like a fiction-horror-saga. Just shows what money can/can't do and it's terrible that is affecting the lives of children too if that were happening in a normal family surely the authorities would be called to investigate but there again... money!
