Hi guys, yes it went very well on Wednesday at AK assessment. They LOVED DS1, he's just going to be such a natural in acting, voiceovers etc. Thought DD was beautiful, she acted a bit shy which she's not! but would put her forward for voiceover and photographic, had mentioned her voice for Peppa Pig. DS2 sang his bubble song and they thought he was adorable and asked him to sing the Wonderpets too! They asked if I could get a recording of DS1 and DS2 to them by yesterday morning as would like to put forward for a new wonderpet voice.
So, I think I may well go with AK for the acting side of things which they dearly would love to do. Got a yes from NC this morning too.

Hi I hope you dont mind new posters on this thread, I have just found it and got rather excited. I would love for my DD to do some modeling she is beautiful and it would be a great oppertunity to put some money away for her in case me and dh are still as skint as we are now when she is older.
The main thing I was hoping someone could advise on is whether or not there are agencies in the north as we live in leeds. Am I right in thinking it will be difficult to find an agency near us. Hope to hear from someone soon

bogie · 25/07/2008 16:43

Dkmodels.net are based in sheffield and do alot of jobs in leeds and york.
Urban angels have just opened in the north not sure if they are taking on at the min though.
Just a word of warning in the north there are alot less jobs and your hopes of getting some money for your dd are along way off, The castings in the area will have alot of kids there in the first place (you do not get paid for castings so really you lose money on petrol) and if you are lucky enough to get the job (this doesn't always depend on looks, its more about how the child is on the day I have been to loads and loads of castings and some have been a total waste of time because ds wasn't in the mood and played up) then you will not get a massive amount for what you have to spend on travel costs my ds did a 3 day shoot for mamas and papas once and only ended up with £100 fo rhim after commision me and dp had spent more than that in travelling. hth

lunavix · 25/07/2008 22:15

hey all

joined my ds to bizzykidz when he was a baby and didn't get a single call however they were really inept and messed up putting him online, could never access pics etc so wasn't really sure if he ever was shown.

Applied for dd to loads in january and she was accepted to them all, rmg have just sent a reminder (!) lol so have finished the application and reapplied to the same lot for dd, and applied to them all for ds just incase.

yackertyyack · 25/07/2008 22:38

melody - alphabetkidz are a sole rep agency. Good luck with the wonderpets!

MelodyDaisy · 25/07/2008 23:05

I know yes, I haven't signed anything with anyone yet anyway!

utopia2004 · 26/07/2008 16:27

Melodydaisy did you apply to AK though the apply bit on their site or email? coz the age button was grey/would let you enter anything when i tried to apply to them on their site?

thanks.

utopia2004 · 26/07/2008 17:33

How long do bubblegum and AK usually take to get back to you? i sent off to BG a week ago -they say they endeavor to answer in 7 days.

Not sure about AK- i cant apply through the site, so sent an email Tuesday but not heard anything yet.

KL, mot, BB have not replied yet either.

.

totallyfloaty35 · 26/07/2008 20:29

BB can take ages to reply, mot sometimes lose your application,so phone and check if you dont hear by end of next week,Kl only do postal applications but are usually very quick to answer.
Melody i saw you at the ak casting, well i went past you,i had a green buggy and my dds aged 13 and 10yrs.We were going past as you sat outside that cafe/bar.What did you think of Ak?
I signed my dd with someone else

Rubystar77 · 27/07/2008 21:50

hi utopia...
didn't get anything with rascals, my sisters newborn baby did tho and they done it through my nephews contract. am now with bk and sw, still nothing tho!
have docs letters to sign tomoz, so far been lucky twice and doc has not charged so going to see him tomoz hopefully if i can get in!

utopia2004 · 28/07/2008 21:37

BG have said yes.. but im abit confused they said they need clearer photos (white background etc) before they can represent us, do they not need an interview then? because ive heard others say they had an interview. When do they ask you to come in for the interview?

Also, AK have replied and sent me an Interview Form to be fill out? but they didn't say whether we were accepted from our details and photos which i already sent them by email. They also want a passport photo?? is this just the application form again?

Sorry for all the questions. thanks.

MelodyDaisy · 29/07/2008 00:18

Hi Totallyfloaty, you should have said hello!! We got there early so sat having a drink before we went in.

I thought it went very well, they seemed very good and looks like they do get the work, we shall see, have still not signed anything yet though! Who have you signed with then? Did you not like how it went with AK?

Utopia2004, yes it is just an interview form so that when they do see you they have those details and information in front of them when you go for an interview.

MelodyDaisy · 29/07/2008 00:23

I really don't like the idea of agencie's accepting children before even seeing them which has happened to me and I have then chosen not to go with them because of this. How can they tell how a child behaves?acts? without seeing them? They could be putting a child forward for a casting that has a terrible attitude/behaviour, who is shy in front of the camera etc and then that client will NOT want that child and it will also reflect bad on an agency, I struggle to understand why they do this but would never go with one of them!!

brooke77 · 29/07/2008 08:08

hi utopia.. i think BG have a photo shoot as well.. did u get details for that? they'll probably use your photos in the meantime and then would need them on a white background. I dont think they have an assessment, so if they've sent you forms to sign that would be an offer of representation.
All agencies work differently and dont necessarliy.. KL dont hold an assessment either.

totallyfloaty35 · 29/07/2008 09:56

Actually lots of agencies dont ask to see you,the ones that do,tend to make money out of it and that really annoys me.
Melody,AK do lots of work but i dont like all the charges.I have seen them at lots of jobs/castings.I also not keen on how angry they get if you cant go to a casting(how do you know if your child will be sick etc?)
So have gone with BK and MOT,My eldest did a movie with BK and has had a fair few castings, MOT do lots of photographic and have NO fees.
Utopia, pics have to be face on and very clear.BG used to be the most fantastic agency, but after the original owner died it went through a rocky patch and is no where near the level it was.

utopia2004 · 29/07/2008 15:18

Totallyfloaty.. what charges do AK have?

BG in total with photo shoot is £160 or £180.. You dont have to have the professional photos done for the website- but then you wont get promoted to the full potential.
they all seem to be more expensive than i thought.

Also have you seen BG kids at castings?

utpoia.. have you tried bizzykids and kitsch kids? both have quite a low fee which is only paid once (ie. not yearly like most)

MelodyDaisy · 29/07/2008 16:19

totallyfloaty..So what are all the charges for AK that are different to say the likes of BK etc? I get all confused!!

I thought it was the £115 apx which included the photoshoot and on website, or were there more charges??

goingfor3 · 29/07/2008 16:22

Hello,

Feeling very excited as ds has a job for M&S tommorow!!!!!

dancerdeb · 29/07/2008 16:56

Goingfor3, WELL DONE TO YOU AND YOUR LITTLE DS AND MAY THIS BE THE START OF MANY have a great day!!
melodydaisy with AK, you will find that fee inclusive of all, the only extra, is the assesmnet fee, which BK dont charge, and then you renew your fee annually with AK, with BK you pay just the once. We used to be with AK.
Totally did you get my mail?? as it didnt come up as sent, as explained pc on the way out, if not will resend,
I think thats a good decision with BK and MOT, best of luck with them!!

Thanks for clarifying that dancerdeb, so what are you feelings on AK? you not like them?
Going to see KK for photoshoot at end of month possibly.

goingfor3 · 29/07/2008 18:29

Thanks MelodyDaisy and Dancerdeb. I always get to jobs far to early as I like to leave lots of time - it's ds's first job but dd1 has been doing it for a couple of years!
