Hiya!

Can anyone help?

Yesterday i applied for BB, R, MOT, SW, TS, NC, UA, still to apply for KL.

today had a yess from-

SW
R

UA arent accepting. The others are yet to reply.

Which is the better agency- racals and scallywags? what fee does Rascals charge? R have fewer kids on books so im leaning towards that atm- has anyone had any work with them?

I live an hour + 1/2 away so have a feeling the top ones wont take her, but she really wants to do it.

I have pictures of my sister on my profile.

Thanks x

totallyfloaty35 · 17/07/2008 09:27

We live an hour 20mins from London,my 3 are all with the big agencies or have been.If they like you and you can get to london for castings then they will take you,the ones who turn down on distance are nc and es mainly. Goodluck

utopia2004 · 17/07/2008 10:42

Thankyou totallyfloaty35!

Anyone any idea which agency is better SW or R?

tori32 · 17/07/2008 13:13

thanks melody, how do you go about it? Do catalogues only use agencies or do you speak to them direct? Thanks for the link, I'll have a look

MelodyDaisy · 17/07/2008 16:17

Tori32, you are far better off approaching a modelling agency whic is where most companie's if not all will go through. Have a look on the link and see which are nearer to you!

tori32 · 17/07/2008 20:33

melodyDaisy what would a Japanese aviation company know about modelling? try typing your link exactly and thats what comes up! Is that a test for thread membership

Rubystar77 · 17/07/2008 21:52

utopia- why don't u go to both assessments and see who you like, with R they have a group of new kids and they pretty much accept all those interested, with sw its one on one and we accepted there and then and had test shots done, if the kids play up they tend to not accept, wouldn't take one of my daughters on...
we was with R our first year, didn;t get anything but we had a few disagreements with them but everyone has their own opions on them, sw is more friendly.
bk is amazingly friendly! but think they have lots of children!

dreadlocks · 17/07/2008 22:56

Hi, Don't know about Rascals but Sw very approachable, always answer emails. Ds 12 has had 4 commercials, A BBc programme, 2 modelling jobs and has a part in a feature film and loads of castings

utopia2004 · 17/07/2008 23:38

Rubystar- thanks for your reply. What do you mean they select everyone interested? are they selective with their kids? they dont seem to have loads of kids on their books..well not as many as SW by the looks of their books? thanks

Thanks dreadloacks, do you find with your DS being 12- is there much internal competition to get jobs at SW at this age?

NC has said no due to competitive age- age 10. But rascals only have 8 10 yr olds on their books.

utopia2004 · 17/07/2008 23:53

Sorry 8 10 year old females^^

Does anyone have experiance with Sandra reynolds agency? or seen kids at castings? are they a good agency? havent heard them mentioned much on these threads so thought id ask!

brooke77 · 18/07/2008 07:48

hi utopia.. we've been with SW and R and both are extremely good agencies, very well established and they are both selective, get similar work. i agree with rubstar, best to go for both assessments (see if u can arrange for the same day as they are not far from eachother) and then you'll get a feel for them as to which u think is the best for your dd. good luck oh, i have heard of sandra reynolds, but dont know much about them..
tori.. if you google Alba you'll get the correct web link.. I dont think we can post it properly on here !

dreadlocks · 18/07/2008 09:38

Hi Utopia2004.
Sw only have about 12 boys his age. At castings tends to be lots of boys his age from CS management, Jackie Palmer , AJ and Busy Kids. i think he is at an advantage being male, far fewer want to model or act.

utopia2004 · 18/07/2008 11:10

Hi brooke and Dreadlocks, we cant realy afford the high feees to both R and SW so still waiting on KL.

Also i heard you have to pay £270 in total to SW with photos? is that correct?.. or is that if you want to buy photos yourself? i know it was 175 to goon the website, but 275 seems extortionate!

SW had i think 18 age 10 girls, compared with 8 at Rascals. Also more blond girls on SW, so we may have more chance of work with R.

dreadlocks · 18/07/2008 13:24

Hi Utopia,
Yes it is 275. One seven five in advance and one hundred on the day the photos are taken. for this you get a nice Cd with all the photos on it, usually 80 plus.
It is a gambol paying out when you don't know if any work will come in. We've been lucky and easily made the money back but I know some people haven't and we have had mega quiet periods with out a call as wellas very busy periods.
If I had known more about different agencies when ds wanted to join one i would probably have applied to ones who do not charge but I didn't so just called the ones i knew about and found Sw by far the most helpful. I did think of changing as ds wanted to move more into acting but we now seem to be getting acting auditons throught them so decided to stick with them . If they dropped/lowered the fees i would have no compaints at all.

MelodyDaisy · 18/07/2008 16:58

Sorry!!
Alba Model Information, but no doubt you have found it now anyway, but it doesn't list all the good one's though!

My DS1 and DD have both been accepted by SW but not DS2(competitive age range and they had full amount on their books already)!

My DD was with them as a baby and she did get some work, some good jobs too, BUT it only cost me £115 then, so I probably won't be putting my kids there again at £275!! There are alot of other good agencies around that don't charge extortionate fees!

utopia2004 · 18/07/2008 17:23

I dont think ill be be paying out £275!

Do rascals only charge £200? or has that got other hidden costs as well?

Thanks everyone for your help!

utopia2004 · 18/07/2008 18:11

Melody daisy- i noticed you applied to AK not long ago? Did it say their books were closed. as it says that on the application page now? thanks.

wigglesmum · 18/07/2008 18:27

Hi- well I've just heard back from KL and it was a...no .
Oh well I thought it would be- I just hate the wording of the letter and the say it says that one of the reasons they don't want your child COULD BE because they are not photogenic. I would rather they didn't say anything!
Melody- it could mean good news for you then because I applied on Tuesday so they were obviously very quick with rejections.
I might get a pic of DS scanned in and then apply to BB and MOT and then if its no from them call it a day til he's 3. I think whilst we did have some good castings with Scallywags I don't fancy paying out a big amount again.

Luce2006 · 18/07/2008 22:46

Utopia: I checked on Ak website and their books are still open,so go for it.
If you read closely it says January 2008 and December 2007.I think they just forgot to delete those old informations!!!

lyndall · 19/07/2008 17:50

Wigglesmum, you received a standard letter from KL (because they are too lazy to write to everyone individually) and it is extremely likely they have someone similar to your DS on their books already. It could not be because he isn't photogenic because he's gorgeous - and SW would not have accepted him if he wasn't! I would try again at a later date and try other agencies in the meantime.
Deb - hope all is well with you and yours, thanks for your email, I will v. soon!

lyndall · 19/07/2008 17:51

Deb: meant to say I will reply very soon!

MelodyDaisy · 21/07/2008 13:10

Yes the AK books are still open, for throughout July and then they close again for a while.

I still haven't decided what move to take next, but I also begrudge the agencies charging way too much money and will probably give them a miss!

janeashersbookofspacecakes · 21/07/2008 14:53

Hi. Sorry to gatecrash chat, just wondered of anyone can offer some advice. DD has been provisionally accepted by Tuseday's Child in Macclesfield. There is a substantial one off fee. I had assumed that reputable agencies don't do this. Do they just accept children for the money? Thanks for reading.

Rubystar77 · 21/07/2008 20:30

hi, i paid the £175 but used my local photographer to take pics and sent them to sw, as long as they are same ratio. but maybe when u first join they do the the pictures at the assement!
when we first went to rascals, they said we was all accepted, (a group of about 10 kids) they talked to us and asked for money, some people left then, some kids were playing up so they left.
you go up for pictures another day, i'm sure fees were around the same about £300...

sw have been much friendlier, especially the photographer he has lots of recent toys macca pacca etc and a yummy jar of sweets!
we never get accepted by top 4. although didn't try kl lately as you have to send actual picture. i re signed with sw & other dd with BK! x

dancerdeb · 21/07/2008 21:56

Lyndall cool WHEN????
ruby, will mail you again, stil am looking for you on facebook LOL well done on signing with SW again, hope this year brings you loads for your dd's
Wigglesmum, the letter you received is a standard letter that most agecies send out, so dont take it personally, just keep going, as your ds is gorgeous!!
