Xxx

janeashersbookofspacecakes · 22/07/2008 15:41

Have just had a another provisional acceptance. Do they routinely tell you your child looks lovely to hook you in?

Onthebeach · 22/07/2008 16:14

Hi Jane, sounds very much like models direct?
If it is don't do it, they have a very bad name.

utopia2004 · 22/07/2008 16:24

Hi i have tried to apply to AK. however it wont let me out the age in, the box is grey and it doesnt let you submit it without the age filled in. Did anyone else have this problem? there is an email for joining for kids, do you suggest emailing them?

Thanks

utopia2004 · 22/07/2008 16:25

Rubystar.. did you say Rascals is £300 to join for one kid?

we are still waiting on all our other applications. seem to be taking a while.

janeashersbookofspacecakes · 22/07/2008 16:53

No not models direct, Kidz in Manchester.

Is anyone very familiar with all the costs involved. So far, it seems there's a one off fee of £120+ then a 4 monthly photo update of about £35. Are there any more costs and do those that I've mentioned sound reasonable?

bogie · 22/07/2008 16:59

jane where are you from? boss in manchester don't charge this much I don't think and my ds has done jobs with children from there.
Your best bet is to try the top 3 agencies before deciding on any.... kids london, bruce and brown, urban angels.
If you are in the midlands dkmodels are ok ds had a good job with them they are based in sheffield

janeashersbookofspacecakes · 22/07/2008 19:37

Thanks Bogie. We are in Manchester. Will look up the agencies you've mentioned.
I don't drive so it's likely we won't be able to go ahead anyway, unless the jobs are in Manchester.

MelodyDaisy · 22/07/2008 20:44

Actually going along to see AK tomorrow to see what they are all about and what they think of mine! Will be there with all 3!!!! OMG!! Certainly NOT driving into smack, bang middle London and will be getting the train

bambi06 · 22/07/2008 21:00

janeashersbookofspacecakes · 22/07/2008 21:15

Bambo06 I'm new to this too but see the advice given to me by Bogie above. I checked out Bruce and Brown agency in London and there is no joining fee. Google their website.

Rubystar77 · 22/07/2008 21:56

hi, yeah i paid just under £300 i think for rascals, i know it was a lot!

totallyfloaty35 · 23/07/2008 09:43

Am so happy with my new gp,she signed drs letters for me-without asking to see the girls or charging me £15 a letter like my last one used to

3kids1cat · 23/07/2008 10:19

Totally, with regards to the doctors letter, I need to get one for dd. Did you type up a letter yourself, or did the gp, or agency do it. Doctor has said he will sign one, for free, but I don't know what I'm supposed to have him sign.

ichef · 23/07/2008 12:42

Anyone who just joined UA have had any castings yet? Can't wait for the phone to ring

3kids re gp letter i found one on the internet if you want me to send it to you just let me know, basically it is a letter saying the child is healthy and fit for modelling, my gp usually charges £30 for a letter so i had to make an appointment with the kids and got her to sign it there, she didn't charge but wasn't very happy about it, we should be moving soon so fingers crossed next gp will be like totally's

3kids1cat · 23/07/2008 13:10

Hi ichef thanks that would be great, could you send it to [email protected]

Btw dd is with UA too, and we are waiting for the phone aswell. Did think about phoning up about the doctor who thing for ds but dp is working all week so we wouldn't all be able to go.

Hope our dc's get something soon.

utopia2004 · 23/07/2008 18:24

Thanks rubystar77... and are you getting much work with them?

Luce2006 · 23/07/2008 23:35

3K1C ,Ichef :lucky you!! I have to pay £25 for the gp letter.I remember going there the first time with pre-made one she only needed to sign and she still charged me the full amount!!!
But I've been seeing a lovely new doctor for the past few times and I might try and persuade her not to make me pay.
We're flying back to the UK tomorrow afternoon and I am hoping the phone will start ringing soon.

Luce2006 · 23/07/2008 23:39

Melody and Tinkerbellechelle: how did the consultation go?

tinkerbellchelle · 24/07/2008 08:20

Couldnt go - there was a family circumstance which was unavoidable so unable to go.
I've just decided that for now Im gonna just leave it and see what UA say in September.
Was gutted as they seemed really friendly via phone/email etc but there we go things happen.

Melody - hope it went well x

MABS · 24/07/2008 08:39

hi all - anyone gor any advise on a good agency for a nearly 14 year old dd, should i go to adult ones? many thanks

dancerdeb · 24/07/2008 09:58

MABS know that Bizzykidz take on until 17, as my ds was with them up until that age.
Kids London take on until 20yrs as my little ds 6yrs is with them.
So at 14 your dd can still model with child model agencies, and theres a lot more out there too!! best of luck

ichef · 24/07/2008 18:47

mabs - i suppose mot would also be a good one as they take children, teens as well as adults.

MABS · 24/07/2008 19:33

many thanks

3kids1cat · 25/07/2008 08:49

Thanks ichef, got your email, will be seeing the doctor this morning so I can get him to sign it then.
