Ciao , Hello , Welcome .

OP posts:

Just made a chocolate cake for DS's birthday tomorrow, he is 1

I am very annoyed with my oven though, it is way too hot and every time I make a cake I have to trim off the burnt bits. Why did I ever think a gas oven was a good idea?

Rosa · 15/06/2008 08:52

Thanks for the poo support it is maddening . Nothing yesterday and this morning after milk she was jumping round Mummy , Mamma, I put her night pants ( Huggies things) back on and a small bit came out - Tears screams so cleaned her and snuck a bit of oil in as sure there is more on the way. Made a big thing of putting poo in the loo and she pressed the button ( she can't reach normally)- She has since eaten- weetabix ( she hates porrige) with some special K on the top to keep it crunchy with strawberries, prunes and apricots )then 4 bits of wholemeal toast ( The bagette size sliced !). When will this oil work ??? Sun is out and dh working not far from here so she can go and see him and sit in the boat ( treat!).
Sputnik- cover your cake tin with greasproof paper and then whip it off in last 5- 10 mins . I sort of fluff it up and fold it under the tin so it allows room for the thing to rise. I have to spin anything in my oven it is electric but cooks more on one side. At Christmas it is a nightmare ( Pizza this year

Rosa · 15/06/2008 12:27

Happy birthday little Sputnik! How was the cake?
Had an amazing Ikea experience yesterday, by Ikea standards it was empty, I wandered happily around the market section with ds happily asleep and then didnt have to queue at the tills!!!!!!!!!!!
Bless little Rosa drawing a card.

gio71 · 15/06/2008 18:15

PS Rosa-poo update?

Rosa · 15/06/2008 18:45

The oil took about an hr to work and it slipped out and on the floor- Amongst tears we presssed the button and said bye bye poo as it flushed away .....Next update probably in about 36 hrs !!!!

Happy Birthday to Sputnik boy !

We went to visit inlaws in the country and the dc harvested and ate peas, ribes, and strawberries (and courgettes and salad which they didn't eat). I have now tons of vegetables in the fridge, because I went to the market saturday morning and got carried away ...

Rosa · 16/06/2008 09:23

How lovely fresh strawberries and ribes ( currants???).Can't wait to go to the fruit farms in the Uk and pick will just leave dd in the strawberry barn !!
Another not so nice day its sort of dripping but not raining properly.Might bundle up dd and take her out if it doesn't decide to rain properly. But the question is to poo or not to poo??

OP posts:
Brangelina · 16/06/2008 09:55

at all that fresh fruit and veg. We don't have any veg at the moment as I didn't want to buy anymore to rot in the fridge whilst we were away. I've been using frozen veggies but still feel a bit scurvy ridden from the lack of fresh stuff. At least DD's getting some decent food at nursery[bad mummy emoticon].

It's raining and bloody freezing. Of course this is purely because I'm behind with my washing and I need stuff to be dry by Weds at the latest. Grrrrrr. I hope it's not going to be cold and wet all week, I was so looking forward to being able to sit on a beach and soak up some rays.

Rosa, do you admire your DD's poos when she does them? With mine we used to have to show everyone so they could comment on it. This seemed to encourage her to do bigger and better. Maybe you're not admiring them enough.

PippiCalzelunghe · 16/06/2008 10:09

oh yes we do that here too. and dd1 is convinced the poo goes away to play with her friends...

anneme · 16/06/2008 10:14

Thank you everyone for suggestions. I too have a castle mad son and, having already been to Bardi (heaven for DS1) and Torrechiara (heaven for me) I think we will spend much of the summer tracking down others.
Why Parma? DH and I are teachers so have periods of time when we can travel relatively easily. We have always spent a lot of time in Italy anyway - he studied in Florence for a while - and then spent sabbatical in town between La Spezia and Parma which we found by chance when escaping up to the mountains to escape vvhot summer in Camogli about 6 years ago. Ended up getting tiny flat there which seemed a good idea when childless and fewer expenses than now but hey! So we are in Italy Easter and summer holidays but need to plan for our LOs now hence email.
Gosh that was a bit epic - sorry!Speaking of work - I am meant to be marking a load of exam papers but MN seems much more interesting...

francagoestohollywood · 16/06/2008 11:08

Anneme, sounds idyllic, though! As I said I shamefully don't know much about the area, despite spending a glorious 48 hrs in Parma (our first weekend away after having our first child ) and eating the best anolini in brodo ever.
I know Corniglia quite well, and I think 5 terre are still lovely in low season, but all those rocks . not ideal with little ones, imo. I suppose you visited bonassola already. The place is really child friendly, I find.
Yes, our ds is castle mad as well too, so will def take him to Bardi. We are also planning to take him to visit a few castle in val d'aosta. He keeps wanting to go back to tintagel.

Brangelina, I think I must have missed something, are you going on holiday soon? where to?

I can't believe the weather. I slept with a thick jumper on. plus blanket

Brangelina · 16/06/2008 11:18

Yes we had a blanket too, and I'm sitting here in my office with my raincoat on, it's too cold to take it off.

I'm going to Toscana for a few days, a friend of mine has a place (or her dh's family does) and she has a week free with no one staying over so asked if I wanted to come down. It's in Porto S. Stefano, do you know it? According to DP it's a posto di sciuri, un po' come Portofino. Lucky friend spends the whole month of June there, then Calabria in July and Cislago in August. She was in my corso preparto so has a DS the same age as my DD and they adore each other.

francagoestohollywood · 16/06/2008 11:25

No, never been there, where is it exactly? There are lots of posti da sciuri in toscana !

I'm sure you'll have a lovely time, the previsioni are good for the end of the week.

We are off next wednesday

Brangelina · 16/06/2008 11:30

It's near Porto Ercole, Monte Argentario.

The previsioni are good in the north, because all the nasty clouds will be going southwards

Where are you going then? Did I miss something? Or is it Menorca already? I though you were going in August.

PippiCalzelunghe · 16/06/2008 11:44

Yes I think it's un posto di sciuri (word I have never heard before but it realy tells it!) but heard it's nice!!
we will be going to one as well (tahanks to friend's house again) but I was just telling dh yesterday that I am not so sure about it because of precisely that and I think I want tot change it to that place in sicily you told me about franca! Dh and I like a holiday to be quite rough and tough... so don;t think punta ala is the place! and at price of sdraio e lettini even on low season!!!!

PippiCalzelunghe · 16/06/2008 11:46

previous post incomprehensible (sp? left brain at home)!

please suggest possible good movies I can add to list of dvd rental, which I have just started as fed up of forced to watch police chases !!

francagoestohollywood · 16/06/2008 11:47

aaaaaah, Argentario is supposed to be nice indeed.
No, Menorca is in August. This is a last minute trip with the whole family (nonni, zii and cugini) to our inlaws house in Sicily. We are going by train . so it's lots of green points I suppose.

Shhhhh stop talking about scamarcio, I'm developing a crush, and it's all your fault . I suppose it's pure envy, rather than a crush, is it? of being young and beautiful...

PippiCalzelunghe · 16/06/2008 11:49

at trip to eolie!!!! esp after what I said in previous post. not that at trip by train eventhough it's green!!! must be sooo long from milan and with the dc. mind you if not along could be great fun. tell me more. I am so in need of the sea... and nothing tilll september.

francagoestohollywood · 16/06/2008 11:49

Pippi, I agree I like posti piu' selvaggi as well, but with a little baby Punta Ala is ideal, esp if you don't have to pay the rent .

I can find my ex tesco dvd rental if you want.

PippiCalzelunghe · 16/06/2008 11:50

pippi's off to check ryanair flight to pg for july...

francagoestohollywood · 16/06/2008 11:50
