Ciao , Hello , Welcome .

Lol at the poo burying incident. I'm not sure I'd have rung the nursery though unless it was in the sandpit or something.

When I was a babysitter one of the boys I was looking after did a poo in la Rotonda della Besana. He'd said he needed one and as I was trying to have a sneaky fag at the time I told him to go away or do it in a corner somewhere, thinking that he'd be too embarrassed and would hold it till later. Unfortunately no, he did it on a square of newspaper with an audience egging him on. I had to pick the offending object up and put it in the bin. Had he done it more privately I might have been able to sneak away or blame it on a dog....

Glad to hear your DD's getting on well Rosa. Weeing accidents are quite common, even if they don't happen at home. At nursery DD occasionally used to get engrossed in doing something and put it off until too late.

Brangelina · 22/09/2008 17:04

Have a good time in Exeter Franca. Am very , I really must get myself sorted and organise a trip over myself soon.

Sputnik · 22/09/2008 17:11

Did your DD remember where she'd buried it Franca or did they have to have a treasure hunt?

Have a good time in the UK

francagoestohollywood · 22/09/2008 17:28

I'm going on sunday

She couldn't remember where of course, she was little. I phoned as I was over polite in the UK and worried that one of the littlies picked it up... but it was never found. I think the nursery staff had a good laugh at my call . I phoned another time, when dd lost a button from her jumper, she was in the baby room and I was apprehensive a baby would pick it up and swallow it

DelGirl · 22/09/2008 20:53

thanks for the list Franca. The 1st one looks great and ideal for my last night.

I'm going to look for something about an hour or so south of Pisa on the E45 route for my 1st night as I won't be spending any time there other than for sleeping probably

Sputnik, no, still no email, . I've emailed you again, thanks

DelGirl · 22/09/2008 20:55

apologies to you all, I hope you don't mind me dipping in and out of this thread. Sorry i'm not adding much to it but i'm a bit one tracked minded at the mo

DelGirl · 22/09/2008 20:56

one 'track'

Sputnik · 22/09/2008 22:05

Ok, I've sent another email, this time straight from Gmail. Maybe your server has blacklisted mine or something.

DelGirl · 22/09/2008 22:12

yay, I got it . Just going to look at my map to see where that hotel is. Looks just the job for our 1st night. Thanks

Sputnik · 22/09/2008 22:28

It's kind of in the middle of nowhere IIRC, but quite a nice nowhere. Not a hotel really just rooms.

MarsLady · 22/09/2008 23:43

Ciao bella(s)

So in the Spring I'm going to visit Franca. Please check the thread Franca and realise that you wished this on yourself

So... who else shall I visit of the Spring and Summer months (and if I come in the summer who has a pool)?

I've almost finished my French course, about to take up Spanish (I know, I know) but am happy to have you all teach me Italian whilst I visit!

Brangelina · 22/09/2008 23:47

Well, I'm near Franca so you can come and see me too.

No pool alas, although if you fancy a spot of windsurfing we could probably kit you out....

DelGirl · 23/09/2008 07:24

well I shall be there in the spring Mars so you can come and visit us

I pointed a finger on the map and I think I might look for something in Caressa. I've seen one hotel which looks fab but will do a bigger search tonight.

Sputnik, the one you said looks fine but I don't want to go too far off the beaten track as multimap says onward from there is still another 4 and a half hours hence staying near the E35. Plenty of time to explore next time I think. Thanks tho.

Brangelina · 23/09/2008 10:51

I wonder if Hot has had her baby yet? Wasn't he/she due sometime this week?

And where's Gio? Too busy buying out Zara Home to talk to us I should imagine....

francagoestohollywood · 23/09/2008 12:00

Gio was in the Uk for a wedding, she must be coming back any time soon... unless she secretely livs in zara home

Yes, I wonder how hot is. She's being all virtuous with her internet...

Marslady, come and visit in Milan!!!

Rosa · 23/09/2008 13:01

Hot was due the 24th so I hope all is ok. Gio I think was away for a week and I guess back Friday.
Oh to put dd back in a cot I need Pippis words of wisdom as she went though this ( maybe you all did) dd getting out of bed , saying pipi every 10 mins don't know when its real or not. Plus I have to be out of the house early this pm to go and get this blessed certificate .
Have you all noticed that we get Italian adverts on our pages at times - I only clicked when I saw stuff in Italian . Its mainly hotels stuff but i guess it must be from our IP addresses or something. ( or is it only me ?)

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 23/09/2008 14:27

I get the Italian ads as well, not all the time though.

Mine have never escaped from the cot, but dd went through a phase at around 2yr of crying at bedtime. Up until then she had a simple routine of milk/kiss/cot and she would fall asleep on her own in 5 mins.
So, I devised a more grown up bedtime routine for her, plus lots of ritual kissing/cuddles etc and in a month time she was again happy at bedtime.
I think the most used technique rosa is to take back to bed saying "bedtime, night night" (I'd add a kiss) without really engaging in convos. I found really helpful having a routine of fixed number of kisses/hugs whatever before leaving their room.
It seems quite common for them to change all of a sudden their bedtime routines, plus your dd might be processing the nursery thing.

I now have the problem that they chat to each other after I leave

gio71 · 23/09/2008 14:32

Ciao! Am back. Have had no internet for 2 days since got back cos had short circuit thingy happen (am very technical) on Sunday after got back from UK which buggered up phone, internet and sky! Only just got fixed. Electrician said that our apartment is dangerous, no earth thingy which is why I have had electric shocks off washing machine!!!! Cant wait to move!
UK was great, bawled my way through friends wedding, she looked gorgeous. Sign house contract on Sat. Have been assured everything will go ahead so am debating a trip to Ikea this eve to order sofa bed and book shelves- is that daft as havent signed? Am so desperate to move I want to get out of this house as soon as get the keys. Anyone know how long after you buy it normally takes Ikea to deliver? Also as we are crap we are going to get them to construct everything-any ideas on costs?
Anyway will go and have a skim through and see what have missed and whats happening with you all

francagoestohollywood · 23/09/2008 15:30

Hi Gio, glad you had a great time in the UK. I'm going on sunday and getting all excited.

We had a few things delivered by Ikea (two single beds and 5 bookcases) and both times it took around two weeks. When you pay they give you a delivery date, they'll ring you with a bit of advance to tell you they are coming. I found them surprisingly efficient.
Can't remember how much was the delivery charge and how much is the assembling. It is probably all written in the catalogue or on their website.

at the short circuit thing!!! (mind you our flat is in an old building with ancient landlord, it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't have a messa a terra as well!)

Sputnik · 23/09/2008 15:33

Gio, never had IKEA deliver, but I think they charge extra 15% if they build it. We've got tonnes of IKEA stuff, bookshelves weren't that difficult, though I would definitely get thm to do a kitchen, or the wardrobe if we did it again (I have fond memories of being heavily pregnant and immobilised while watching DH build our wardrobe, and cursing the whole of Sweden in the process)

Marslady, we have a pool, but it's one of those frame ones and only 15 feet across, does that merit a visit I'm just outside Rome, if Delgirl is here and we can get Gio out from Rome then we could have a mini-meet-up of 4.

Rosa · 23/09/2008 18:34

We had the SME deliver and assemble - The assembly part was an extra Eu100 but they built the entire bedroom - Its like 2 end single wardrobes with cupboards above / between and the beds underneath It took 2 men 3 hrs to do we reckon it would have taken us or dh and friends probably 2 days !
They put up the Ikea trofast in 40 mins and that was 3 of them and oh so simple!!!! So we agree money well spent.- Gio after your last fun I would just wait until you get the signature on the paper incase ( although I do not wish it on you !) Right must go and make single bed for dh - I have started the snoring phase in pg and last night dh was on the sofa !!!

Sputnik · 23/09/2008 19:13

Great tactic for getting more room in the bed there Rosa

gio71 · 24/09/2008 10:06

Hi
Went to Ikea yesterday eve with ds who was an angel and good as gold! Ordered bookshelves, sofa bed and ds bed and confirmed that if anything went wrong on Sat then as long as I let them know sat I can cancel and get full refund! And they should deliver at some point next week.
Franca have a great time in UK and pleased you got your house rented. I have just rented ours out in the UK as well, tenants moved in last mon. Yesterday had call from agents saying problems with leaks in bathroom so doesnt look like I'll see anything of the first mths rent! Trying to be positive and think at least from that point on will start getting some income in cos has been empty since April, been very stressful trying to meet stupid Rome rent and mortgage each mth!
Sputnik hows your dd now at school, is she settling down anymore? At least she seems to be ok when you've gone by the sound of it. And yes lets have an outside Rome meet up at some point!
