Thanks you Berrie. We'll get the keys when we complete on October 10th. I can't believe I don't have to stress about it anymore. I've been permanently stressed for months now.
We're (hopefully) going to rent our current house out, and the rental money will cover the mortgage payments. Then we can sell it at a later date, when property prices start going back up again.

Berrie · 10/09/2008 21:24

So pleased for you Lyra.
Wishing you strength for the move and loads of happiness in your new home.

Berrie · 11/09/2008 11:11

Morning all!

Builders are here!
Don't like it much

LyraSilvertongue · 11/09/2008 11:37

How long is it expected to take? It will be worth it in the end. We've got all this to come...

Berrie · 11/09/2008 12:53

This until Sunday so long as it doesn't rain then 2 weeks for the concrete to set then ready to build the glass bits after that.
The skip hasn't come yet so the 3 have them who came at 9am did nothing all morning! It felt odd being inside with dd with the three of them outside my back door chuffing away and drinking tea.

Also, the chap quoted us for a 4x5m conservatory but when he came to measure it was 5.8m. Is that his fault for not measuring up properly 'cause we certainly can't pay any more...

LyraSilvertongue · 11/09/2008 14:16

Where is everyone?

oggsfrog · 11/09/2008 18:46

Here I am!

Brilliant news Lyra. How exciting! Your forever house at last . You must be so relieved.
Will this be the end of the trips downstairs in the middle of the night?

Sorry about your car Zeb. How did she manage to break it? Where are you off to?
Oooh, less than 6 hours until Hamlet tickets go on sale. If you're away does this mean you won't be able to try for any?

I keep having to remind myself that I have no burning desire to see Hamlet. Nope. Not me. No sirreee.
Too far, too expensive, just for a couple of hours of ogling DT through a pair of binoculars .

Berrie, £50 for a half hour meeting . Blimey.
Was this the video thingy? Will it lead to bigger things

Berrie · 11/09/2008 19:31

Tee hee hee.
No, this was the planning meetings for 2 new children to tutor. They pay me for one hour for each child but we did both children in half an hour. I get £25 per hour. To be honest I shall have to spend some extra time on it myself since we only found target areas so I'll have to word the targets and do the paperwork.

The filming should be next month. It is for a training DVD. For years and years I have sat in training sessions watching these videos and you always look at the teacher and make silly comments to the teacher next to you about what she is wearing, her hair etc as it is rather dull otherwise. Suddenly I have the conundrum of wanting to look my best but not actually like I'm on a hot date...(not that that has happened to me for 20 odd years)

oggsfrog · 11/09/2008 19:38

Would the frazzle blouse be a good look?

Berrie · 12/09/2008 18:02

Ho ho ho
Nearly sent that to the charity shop recently but it didn't quite make it.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 12/09/2008 19:32

That's fab news Lyra. I'm so pleased for you. You must be soooo relieved.
Well, I'm now in Tonbridge, having spent last night near Stonehenge - "drive past, turn left, it's more or less ther'. So lots of little mini-holidays. Tomorrow we're off for a picnic in London, so DS is v excited aobut going on the train, then a Big Red Bus then maybe a taxi.
And yes, the au pair is still living. God knows what she did to the car, but it's working which is all I care about.

So, Lyra, if I were to move to your neck of the woods, what's the rent on your gaff? And can we have photos of your new one?

Berrie · 12/09/2008 20:45

Zeb How can you contemplate leaving Cornwall...Tis my dream to live there!

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 12/09/2008 21:16

I've had a drink. Don't get me started. I think it's the lure of visiting family and friends in places like Salisbury, Tonbridge and Pimlico!

LyraSilvertongue · 12/09/2008 22:57

Ours has just gone on the market at £1,400 pcm. It's not cheap round here.
I'll do a link to the new house. As I said, it's not much to look at at the moment, it's a doer-upper, but has got loads of potential. I'll be up to my elbows in paint for months!

LyraSilvertongue · 12/09/2008 22:59

Here it is

LyraSilvertongue · 12/09/2008 23:00

The garden's much bigger than it looks in the picture.

oggsfrog · 13/09/2008 09:35

Lovely house Lyra . Loads of scope and space. You must be over the moon.

I tried to avoid the internet yesterday so's not to accidentally book Hamlet tickets. I needn't have worried. I looked this morning and the only tickets I could find were £390 each .

WARNING... whoop....whoop....saddo alert............Berrie, seeing as I won't be able to experience the real deal, if I send you the money would you be so kind as to buy me the programme (the glossy one with the photys)????

Berrie · 13/09/2008 10:32

I don't think you get a glossy one like the Joseph one. I already have the programme actually, my relative sent it with the poster. I can photocopy it now if you want and send it up or buy you one when I get there!

Berrie · 13/09/2008 10:34

Lyra it fab! Upstairs weeing too!
I can't beleive how much it is though. My Dad's 5 bed Georgian farmhouse with outbuildings up here was that much.

oggsfrog · 13/09/2008 10:37

What no glossy!

LyraSilvertongue · 13/09/2008 17:51

I know, we could get so much more for our money almost anywhere else in the country. Oh well...

Berrie · 14/09/2008 08:47

No no I wasn't saying you are not getting your money's worth it's a great house

Berrie · 14/09/2008 08:48

It's the RSC my love not ALW. It's full of highbrow articles on Hamlet!

oggsfrog · 14/09/2008 08:51

Pah, that's no good! You mean there are no gratuitous semi-naked shots???
Actually he doesn't get semi-naked does he? I have seen him sporting a rather fetching bobble hat though.....

Berrie · 14/09/2008 09:30

Do you know, I've not actually looked in it yet Off to check for naked bits...
