please add to the list of things that, if mentioned in passing, are guaranteed to derail a thread.

I've just run (ran?) myself a bath with some bubbles I got for Xmas, I guess I'll have thrush soon....

And yes, a bath at 3pm on a weekday afternoon. There's so much in that statement that will anger MN that I'd better duck out before I get lynched 😂

Haha, I call my Lush bath bomb baths my thrush baths thanks to MN, despite the fact I've never once has thrush in my adult life.

Saying anything positive about your man (and you must be a simpering stupid 'handmaiden' if you do)

Likewise not being at all bothered if your Man has female friends / occasionally has a night out / owns an X-box / has a hobby (particularly running).

You're either a Cool Wife™️ or a Mug.

KeepSmiling89 · 29/01/2025 15:22

@FasilBalti I would LOVE to be able to have a bath at 3pm on a weekday!

Hedgerow2 · 29/01/2025 15:22

Starting a thread on a topic that already has a thread on it or has been discussed several times before. Because all Mumsnetters are meant to be aware of all the threads that currently exist and have previously existed.

Oh and il add voting for Brexit and voting Conservative.

And being perfectly happy with Trump getting in.

Creu · 29/01/2025 15:22

Fabric softener. Apparently even a drop can be smelt from 15 rooms away.

BunnyLake · 29/01/2025 15:23

Having a ‘row’ with your dh. An OP mentioned it followed by bewildered MNers not understanding that you can have a row and it can be normal.

God forbid you’re at home on a weekday while sending your OP. (Why are you home, why aren't you being productive, it’s a weekday don't ya know!)

Such profligacy - you feed the rest of the family with the chicken which means you can make it last 5 days. In the meantime you prepare a massive salad which is so filling you don't need to eat again for at least a fortnight.

I am actually laughing out loud at some of these. So true.

People who think that parents calling their kids ass-holes are actually ass holes themselves

Shein and Temu

Tbf no one should tolerate Shein and Temu or any companies with that level of exploitation.

Knowing more about your body, history and situation than the GP who has spoken to you for five minutes in your whole entire life. If you dare question their choice of treatment and ask for support getting a second opinion (everything's anxiety for women over 30), what do you think you know and you're just being difficult and you're being defensive now so of course you must get some therapy for that undiagnosed anxiety.

Same goes for health visitors, SEN specialists, teachers, social and local authority workers etc. They're all saints, have perfect impeccable judgement, received universe class training and couldn't possible ever get anything wrong.

Baby showers
Birthdays for adults
Hen/stag parties
Secret Santa
Not using the whole chicken, for many, many meals including broth
Your allowed salad, but only a big one

You're not your.

theworldie · 29/01/2025 15:31

Calling an ambulance. You should drive yourself or get a taxi even if your leg is hanging off.

Christmasandallthetrimmings · 29/01/2025 15:31

Not throwing every spare penny of your income into a pension. You're also an imbecile if you prefer the safety of a savings account over stocks and shares.

OP describes a situation or person who ticks almost all the boxes for neurodivergence. However the MN neurodivergence police will absolutely forbid anyone to suggest that the person in question could be ND in any way as it triggers some bizarre nerve of their own self identity. Especially if the person in question is a man, he has to be a 100% asshole garbage human being and you are never, ever allowed to suggest undiagnosed ND being a reason for male behaviour.

I really wish MN wouldn't tolerate people insisting undiagnosed people have autism/ADHD.

Christmasandallthetrimmings · 29/01/2025 15:32

Questioning a celebrity's social media ethics- you're clearly just jealous.
