HI all, have started our new thread, thought it was a good time to do so, as nobody seemed to be mid-conversation, at least I hope so!!!
Lets hope its a great month for us all

OP posts:
liahgen · 26/03/2008 12:36

how old is your dd? 2-3 is generally quiet as they can be unpredictable.

what agency you with?

lilylu · 26/03/2008 12:54

she is with rascals

ichef · 26/03/2008 13:54

When we first decided to put dd in an agency she was about to turn two years old and she didn't have anything for months, lots of people told us it was a bad age for modeling and it was ok because it did pick up after she turned three but then with ds was completely different he had lots of castings and work from 1-2 years old. Sorry not a very good advice.

ichef · 26/03/2008 13:56

julie4 - tks for the feedback, not going to try them, I've applied to BB, MOT, KL, BizzyKidz, Rascals, Elisabeth Smith, Scalleywags and will wait to hear from them, fingers crossed.
A friend said something about Alphabet Kids, anyone knows this agency at all? I can't find their website.

mygirlsmum · 26/03/2008 14:36

hi ichef alphabet kidz is spelt like this i think best of luck

julie4travel · 26/03/2008 15:50

ichef -www.alphabetkidz.co.uk/ i have seen children from ak at castings

i have seen at castings out of the agents you have mentioned bb,kl, bk, rascals, elisabeth smith and at one casting a sw child. my ds started his first year of modelling with sw we had the same start that the one job he got didnt compensate what fees were paid out. never saw the pictures from that job either in the end.

altin · 26/03/2008 16:21

ichef: I wouldn't be put off by KL's application procedure. It may be snail mail but they're very quick snails at KL and reply yes or no very quickly. They're very efficient (if not the most parent-friendly outfit out there). Technology is all well and good but it's more about the person using it. e.g. I applied to B&B via email and didn't hear for two months (and this was when their books were open!). By this time my twins had been long since been accepted by KL. I found out later that they respond quicker to trad. pics being sent via the post.

Good luck to you!

mum2twoboyz · 27/03/2008 13:56

ichef.... wudnt bother with alphabet kidz.... think they do take on most kids who apply, and not many seem to get jobs...
ds2 has been with them 1 yr and had nothing (but is at that awkward age lol)

liahgen · 27/03/2008 14:08

well all. Back from Mothercare casting that actually turned out to be an Early Learning Centre casting!! Apparantly they are the same company now.

Only about 200 kids to be seen, ( i kid you not) so stand a good chance me thinks.

mummyeme · 27/03/2008 15:44

Hi
Liahgen, dd had an early learning centre casting when she was younger. I think they were seeing the same number of kids if not more!!!! what a nightmare, but you never know good luck.
Dd didn't get the casting we went to, wouldn't be so bad (she was shy- having not been to any for a while) but I really stressed over what she should wear and it went to a girl who turned up in uniform covered in food who's hair hadn't even been brushed.aaagggghhh.
I know I sound bitter but I'm not, just a tiny bit dissappointed.
Thankyou everyone for your help re. clothes, I know what to do and expect next time (which I hope will be soon).
How was your 50's casting julie4travel? have to say I wish we'd seen you on the tube! Hope it went really well.
Rubystarr, where have you gone? Did you make a decision about agencies? hope its all going wellx

totallyfloaty35 · 27/03/2008 16:42

Alphabet kidz do a lot of tv and i have seen them at castings and at several jobs my dd has done so they do work, they are a bit abrupt with parents and you have to have your pics done with their photographer wich can be expensive. But i would definately try the other agents first.

ichef · 27/03/2008 17:05

Thanks everyone for all the advice, have decided to apply at all the agencies and see what happens, even posted photos to KL this morning so now I suppose we just have to wait and see what happens, wish us luck!

liahgen · 27/03/2008 17:11

mummyene, yeah my eldset boyworked for them for 2 yrs. They tend to reuse their kids for a couple years then do a huge recasting. We can only see, someone has to get it eh?

Good luck ichef, let us know when your replies come in.

julie4travel · 27/03/2008 21:12

liahgen - we did elc casting last year yet didnt get picked, one girl my dd did a shoot with also got elc casting and was all over the brochure last year. good luck to you all hope you hear soon

lilylu · 28/03/2008 07:13

Any more advice for me please? Thanks

julie4travel · 28/03/2008 08:30

lilylu - it takes a while to get castings after joining an agent or changing agents. i always give 8 weeks before i start hoping to get a call. 2 - 3 years is a bit unpredictable with how the kiddies will behave so you may find at 3 years more castings etc - sorry i cant advise much. hopefully others with kids your age can help.

liahgen · 28/03/2008 08:34

sorry. Rascals is a well respected agency, and i have come across their kids at castings and shoots.
Prob just her age. Always make sure they remember her, phone in with some pathetic reason, just to jog their memories. Some agencies do unfortunately, (not for me cos my boys happen to be on it) have a list of "favourites" for want of a better word.that is, Parents who they know will almost always say yes, kids they know will always behave impeccably, and sometimes they do get asked just to send kids of their choice, and that';s when it pays to be in the frame.
Make sure they have up to date pictures, even if they are in the book, or website, not all clients use that service so always make sure the agency have photographs. Up to date measurements, changes in teeth etc.

Hope this helps. Give them a call, and just say, can you shed any light on it, they are professionals and should be able to tell you.

liahgen · 28/03/2008 08:37

just realised that sounded abit about my boys being on the list.
Sorry, didn't mean to be.

julie4travel · 28/03/2008 09:31

lilylu - forgot to say rascals def get the work
the castings we have had this week both had rascals kids on the casting sheets, yesterdays had at least 15 from rascals

lilylu · 28/03/2008 12:50

thanks mums for your advice.. do you have toddlers too?
Yes i've done the phoning and have updated photos etc.. just had a feeling that this age may be generally a little quiet. i know they are a good agency.. my ds whos nearly a teenager was with SW, so I've been around a while ! but he started at a much older age than dd so dont really know how it is for the littleuns. thanks again.. good luck to all of you !

2icklepickles · 29/03/2008 12:45

....my little'un is with KL and hasn't had a job for 2 years so I am guessing they are not on the 'favourites list!!!!'

dreadlocks · 29/03/2008 17:02

Hi, yes we too have seen Rascal kids at castings, though probably age 8-12. Though saying that i have seen children from all the agencies listed above at castings.
H

liahgen · 29/03/2008 18:33

2ickle I soo regret writing that post.

2 years and no job, I would be very pissed off. Have you contacted them? I would give them a call and tell them you are thinking of moving agencies, bet you'll see a few castings coming your way. How old are your dc's? Are they in the book?

lilylu · 29/03/2008 21:12

Hi all.. thanks for all your input ! I know Rascals are a good agency.. just wondering more about the toddler age. If there are any mums with kids of similar age in the modelling world, I would really like to hear your views !! Thanks..

ichef · 30/03/2008 00:48

I'm also curious about the age thing, my ds is 3 and dd is 7, is there work for their age groups? I know it will depend on their looks but just generally speaking.
