Over here! (Berrie waves)

OP posts:

I've always luuuurrrrved Matt Dillon but it's a bit hard to fancy someone who's playing a racist asshole. I had to remind myself he was just acting.

LyraSilvertongue · 10/03/2008 14:22

I still haven't seen Brokeback Mountain.

binkleandflip · 10/03/2008 14:22

No coke experience here either but I think we're in a surpising minority. A few of my friends have revealed they have tried it at least once in the past (well before motherhood) and there seems to be lots of MNr's with experience too. We're a saintly bunch on this thread!!

LyraSilvertongue · 10/03/2008 14:23

What have you tried Binkle?

binkleandflip · 10/03/2008 14:24

Yes I think that's why he was so good really, playing a very difficult and unattractive part. You have to see Brokeback Lyra, it's depressing a bit but really original and involving too and all the more poignant now I guess

binkleandflip · 10/03/2008 14:26

Not a lot tbh. Drinking is about it. Never smoked and never taken any drugs at all and never had any interest in it. I once had a boyfriend who tried to put a pill in my mouth during kissing. I imagine he thought that very sexy but I spat it out, slapped him and left!

I'm very boring and puritanical I guess but I'm quiet glad in a way - I've never felt like I missed out by not trying stuff anyway

LyraSilvertongue · 10/03/2008 14:30

I tried cannabis once when i was about 17. It just made me feel really, really lethargic so I never tried it again.
I also tried speed once when I was about 18 or 19. It made me really energetic but i couldn't sleep for ages and my heart kept racing and skipping beats. Never tried that again either.
That's it.

LyraSilvertongue · 10/03/2008 14:32

My uni friends tried LSD once (I didn't like the idea of it). It was quite scary watching them having hallucinations. I vowed never to try it.

binkleandflip · 10/03/2008 14:34

I remember my friend enthusing about these new diet pills she had got at a 'weight-loss clinic' in town - she lost about two stone in a month and her pupils were like saucers - but she was is complete denial that the pills she were taking we quite obviously speed!! Seeing her results I did have a wibble and think I wanted to take them too but the thought of being the one who has a bad reaction....well...I am too much of a coward. The 'weight-loss clinic' was closed down not too long after funnily enough...

LyraSilvertongue · 10/03/2008 14:36

She can't have slept for weeks!

binkleandflip · 10/03/2008 14:41

She was hyper!

Zebedeedoodah · 10/03/2008 14:41

It's all coming out now! I tried cannabis literally only a couple of times in my very early 20s, but I didn't like the effect. I'd rather just get totally hammered. At least you know exactly what your doing to yourself with alcohol

binkleandflip · 10/03/2008 14:47

Speaking of which I went to the school dance on Saturday - wearing, I might add, a high necked dress with chiffon sleeves - I was taking NO CHANCES of the broken-zip-strapless hell I suffered at the last one Anyway, it was held at lets say not the fanciest hotel in the world - we asked for a cocktail list and he said they best he could do was a snowball So I was basically hammered off advocaat and lemonade on Saturday. Cheap date or what??

Zebedeedoodah · 10/03/2008 14:54

Yuch. I didn't even know you could buy snowballs anymore. Did you move on to babycham after that?

binkleandflip · 10/03/2008 14:59

Worse!

He said he could do us a 'sex on the beach' which, as I understand it, is vodka, peach schnapps and cranberry and a bit of lime, is that right? That may be a sea breeze actually...

Anyway, he had no cranberry. He substituted with Blackcurrant cordial. He had no lime. He substituted with - yes- you've guessed it - lime cordial Slurp!! He did rather fancily put a cherry and some lemon (?!!) on a stick in the glass though

LyraSilvertongue · 10/03/2008 15:00

Not the fanciest? That's an understatement

Zebedeedoodah · 10/03/2008 15:16

What, no umbrella?! Now that's the sign of a truly classy joint.

LyraSilvertongue · 10/03/2008 15:54

I hope no-one thinks I was being fattist in my story about The Witch. Her fatness wasn't the reason she was (is) is miserable cow. Not that I'm suggesting anyone here is fat either.

I'll get me coat.

binkleandflip · 10/03/2008 16:32
Grin
Zebedeedoodah · 10/03/2008 16:40

Sounds like she'd have been a miserable cow, fat or thin

Berrie · 11/03/2008 08:17

g....r...o....a....a......a....a...n.....

I have lost 4lbs since yesterday...8lbs in total..pity it doesn't count really as it's all water...I ...am...so...ill.

Would it be a bad idea to drive dc to playschool when I feel weak and lightheaded? Don't answer that...

OP posts:
Zebedeedoodah · 11/03/2008 09:34

Just drive very carefully. Then at least you can go home to bed and peace, can't you?

I'm not sure about my weight, but I did do my gym thing yesterday - using 3kg weights I'll have you know! And I've bought my gym ball now too, which is the world's wierdest experience. DH wants to know where its face and horns are so he can bounce around like a space hopper

binkleandflip · 11/03/2008 09:43

Did you enjoy the personal trainer experience then Zeb? I do think its makes loads of difference to my motivation and they push me FAR harder than I would ever push myself.

Plus, with them being blokes, there's no using the ol' period fallback as an excuse not to work hard because I would never dream of mentioning it to them and they are far too mannish to pick up on my subtle hints ie writhing around clutching my belly in agony after two sit-ups

My gym ball has deflated over time under my huge weight, when I sit on it my bum is touching the floor through the rubber

ps I have lost 2lb

Zebedeedoodah · 11/03/2008 11:16

2lbs - congratulations.

And so far I love my PT - it's a HER btw, so no excuses I guess. She also has the kind of lean bod you want, not something too outrageous. I just wish I could afford to have her around 3 times a week for the next 6 months to bully me.

LyraSilvertongue · 11/03/2008 13:24

Ha HA! I get the last word on this thread.
I'm off put in a min (crazy afternoon ahead as usual). But the good news is I spent all of yesterday being a domestic goddess and now my laundry basket is EMPTY for the first time in five years
Sorry you're not feeling well Berrie. Get as much rest as you can.
