Hellooooo.....

Lyra, sorry about FIL. You had quite an adventure getting home. We were worried.

What probs did Zeb have?

Well. Bloody journey from hell. It's a good job I set off when I did.

Tube fine. No probs. Got to L'pool St just in time to hop on the 12:55 to Stansted, which should have taken approx 45-50 mins.
There were all sorts of problems and stops due to signal failures. Everyone was getting very antsy as we all had flights to catch. At one station after a heated discussion with an annoyed passenger the conductor got off and didn't get back on.
Eventually at about 2:45 after we'd been sitting t a station for 10 mins we were told we'd have to get off and get on another train. Then we were told they didn't have a driver and he'd be with us in about 5 mins. Eventually got to Stansted at 3. Had to run to check in. A few people had missed their flights and were not happy.
So much for my idea of a leisurely lunch at the airport.
From check in we had to rush straight to the gate. Security obviously thought I'd not had enough hassle so decided to scrutinise my bag and wave a little wand over every single thing in there . Then they took away my camera and my two inhalers for further investigation.
Then I was randomly picked to have to take off my boots. Gaaaaahhhhhhh!

oggsfrog · 01/02/2008 15:33

Right... So. Very turbulent flight taking a lot longer than on way down. Just past Mancester pilot announces that it is very windy at Prestwick...we may not be able to land. Wind at 50 knots.
Nearer, and he announces we won't be able to land. Windspeed now over 55 knots and we would have to divert to Edinburgh.
Terrifying descent like being in a tumble drier. Mad drunk woman at front decides now would be a good time to start shouting at people around her, calling them very rude names and screaming 'I should be at Prestwick not f**king Edinburgh'. Cabin crew unable to do anything other than asking her to calm down as we are about to touchdown.
Everybody on board cheered and clapped as the pilot got us safely down.
Told coaches would be waiting outside.
No bloody coaches . They would be here in about an hour .

Phoned dh who was not best amused as he dd and her friend were at Prestwick wondering where I was. He then had to drive home (an hour away) and wait to hear from me.
Finally at about 7:15 coach arrived. Got back to intended airport at about 8:30ish.
Airport full of very unhappy people as all flights had been cancelled and nothing was landing or taking off at all all night.

Finally got home just after 10pm.

Oggs, I sent you an e-mail about thread change but it came back

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 01/02/2008 16:31

Oggs, will have to read your posts later as i have to go to Homebase.
Binkle, I asked for a post to be deleted because you'd mentioned DP's real name on the old thread. Hope you're not offended.

Berrie · 01/02/2008 16:34

Have resent ...

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 01/02/2008 16:37

Couple of new pics in my profile

I got your email Berrie

What's this about Zeb being on the radio?

LyraSilvertongue · 01/02/2008 16:37

Something along the lines of 'I hope Lyra and xxxx are ok'.
I did appreciate the thought though Binkle.

Berrie · 01/02/2008 16:39

Woo hoo!
Wish I'd got a bit closer...in fact wish I'd pushed to the front!

OP posts:
Berrie · 01/02/2008 16:39

His name?

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 01/02/2008 16:42

Yes, his name.
Great pictures Oggs.

oggsfrog · 01/02/2008 16:46

Lee.
Lee is his name

LyraSilvertongue · 01/02/2008 16:50

No no, DP's name. Binkle mentioned it on the other thread.
I don't have to go to Homebase now. Apparently we've got everything we need in the shed if we can wade past all the junk.
Got to do some last-minute DIY before viewings commence on the house tomorrow. Oh joy.

Berrie · 01/02/2008 16:55

Oggs...you are different online...

OP posts:
Berrie · 01/02/2008 16:55

In fact so are you Lyra...

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 01/02/2008 16:56

I think we're all different online, except maybe Binkle. In what way am I different?

Berrie · 01/02/2008 16:57

I find I'm chatting to the old version of Lyra and Oggs in my mind. Binkle is just the same as she sounds online which is a sursprise as I imagined she would be the one I was surprised at! Was I like me or not?

OP posts:
Berrie · 01/02/2008 16:57

errr

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 01/02/2008 16:58

In what way?

Berrie · 01/02/2008 16:59

You were not very different really. Maybe quieter...

OP posts:
Berrie · 01/02/2008 17:00

Sorry that was for Lyra...Oggs...er

OP posts:
Berrie · 01/02/2008 17:02

Am all confused...to clarify

Lyra was quieter.
Oggs, you are more reserved in real life.
