They got both got a lovely costume at Christmas. Dd's was a fairy one. She refuses to ever put it on . I feel really guilty that I can't give a photo to the person who gave it and I never talk about it as she's never had it on!

Zebedeedoodah · 27/02/2008 10:23

Oggs, I don't get it.

Berrie · 27/02/2008 10:24

Oh sorry Zeb...Oggs has been looking at my blog.

OP posts:
Zebedeedoodah · 27/02/2008 13:09

I'm not sure I want to know!

I've just received my first 'new' payslip, and crikey it makes me very happy!
I'm not going to tell DH exactly what it is...is that wrong? (he's a tax dude, he could work it out if he really wanted to)

LyraSilvertongue · 27/02/2008 13:38

Drinks are on you then Zeb
I'm thinking of retraining to do something more lucrative when DS2 starts full-time school in january. Journalism's all very well and good but it doesn't pay well at all. I', thinking of a course in photography.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/02/2008 13:47

Just read about you earthquake experience Berrie. Hope you're ok now.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/02/2008 13:50

Btw, DP asked me last night where I'd like to get married if we got married abroad
I haven't been officially 'asked' yet but we have been discussing the possibility. i've started a thread asking for inspiration for possible locations.
Oggs, didn't you get married abroad? Thailand was it? Or am I thinking of someone else? I'm also saving the diamond DP's dad left me in his will 'just in case'.

Zebedeedoodah · 27/02/2008 14:05

Zeb's off to check out Lyra's other thread to think up exotic locations and persuade OH to pay LOADS! And so he damn well should after this summer's holiday shenanigins. Oh, and congratulations!!!!!

We've got great courses down here at Falmouth College if you're going to re-train

Another rude question - since any of you guys have started on ADs, have you found you've put on lots of weight? The penny finally dropped that this was probably the reason I'm now at the heaviest I've been since DS was born FGS. Oh, and it's bo**ocks what they said yesterday. They work for me.

I guess you could always ask him on Friday!
Losing weight is just cheating.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/02/2008 14:31

I can highly recommend the water. I'm usually so busy I forget to drink, even when I'm thirsty.

Zebedeedoodah · 27/02/2008 15:14

Drink water, lose weight? Do tea & coffee count?

Zebedeedoodah · 27/02/2008 16:08

Lyra - have you got access to the newswires today or tomorrow? DH has published some research which should hit the financial press within the next 24 hours. Either that or they'll ignore it completely!

LyraSilvertongue · 27/02/2008 17:32

I will do tomorrow as I'll be at work. i can see PA, AP and Reuters.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/02/2008 17:33

What's the research about (in a general sense so I'll know what to look out for).

oggsfrog · 27/02/2008 17:37

You remembered correctly Lyra. We did get married in Thailand, but only because we were going over there on hols anyway to visit bil who lives there.
We eloped basically . Told nobody and just did it. No fuss.
A big 'do' was the last thing on earth we wanted. In a fit of anti everything that is usually done we even bought the wedding rings from Ratner's .
Basically we just went to a Thai registry office with bil and his wife, sat down at a row of desks next to a couple who were getting divorced, and signed a Thai document (us in English and bil signed in Thai). Hey presto, less than five minutes later we were married - and to this day do not know exactly what we signed .
It was only when we were walking away afterwards that we realised we hadn't put our rings on, so we stopped in the street and put them on
Gawd, that was 15 years ago , and we'll have been together 21 years in May

LyraSilvertongue · 27/02/2008 17:51

That sounds like a really stress-free way to do it.
I don't really want the big fuss, walking down the aisle thing either and DP definitely doesn't.

Berrie · 27/02/2008 19:32

We got married in Cornwall Lyra. We had a sandcastle competition on the beach and Elvis Kareoke and BBQ in the evening.

Will you want to wear white? You'd look stunning in a colour (Berrie starts to get excited - I know, I know you've not been asked)
Can we come on your hen night?

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 27/02/2008 21:26

Of course, Berrie!
I can't see myself wearing a big bridal shop dress. Probably something from Monsoon or something. i don't want to spend thousands on a dress. I'm getting ahead of myself again...

oggsfrog · 27/02/2008 21:45

bat but no balls

oggsfrog · 27/02/2008 21:46

Oh bugger... wrong thread (sheepish )

LyraSilvertongue · 27/02/2008 21:50
Grin
Berrie · 28/02/2008 07:11

Morning everyone!
Ahhh I had a lovely nights sleep...no earthquakes this time.
What are we all up to today?

I need to do some cleaning and some ironing...ok I need to do a lot of cleaning and ironing I'd better take the dc out for a nice walk or something...er...exciting eh?

OP posts:
Zebedeedoodah · 28/02/2008 09:07

Lyra - I'll email you the details on the research, but basically it's about a survey he's done of NonDoms and that around 99% of the top tier hedge fund type city guys are gonna leave the country as they think the proposed tax regime is outrageous.

Oggs, I love the sound of your wedding. No fuss. No grief. Keep it simple. That's what I'm going to do next time

Lyra - you'd look fab in a bin liner, and we'd better get our own special hen night...if he ever asks you. Now....what on earth could the theme be?

esk · 28/02/2008 11:08
