Layering up is indeed the best way to stay warm as the weather turns chilly. Fortunately HBFs also come with cloaks and coats which makes them doubly effective Grin

Morning wenches. Enjoy your fika Wicked.

Usual Saturdayness here. Washing, homework wrangling, tidying, blah blah blah.

Afternoon. I have hurkle-durkled and snudged under my duvet for most of the morning Grin

It's lovely and sunny outside, and I really feel I should be doing productive stuff like LetUs although mostly, I would just like to go back to bed again.

How is the sound bar apricot?

I would quite like to have a good hurkle-durkle.

Instead we’ve had the usual crap off DS2 re homework. He’s done his maths which he’s done wrong bar one question. He knows how to do it - as evidenced by the work in his book he’s done in class - but he was in a mood and rushed it, thinking he could go straight back on his game. He’s got a shitload more different lots to do but I am currently of the mind “if you do it, great - if you don’t, not my problem”. Sigh.

Been to see mum and dad. Back home now where I’m going to carry on reading Circe by Madeline Miller. I love a bit of mythology and this is very good.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/11/2018 17:53

Oooh, 'Circe' looks good, and 'The Song of Achilles'

We haven't looked at homework yet. DS is already a bit grouchy, so I figured 'choose your battles' etc for today. We'll aim for tomorrow.

ApricotCrush · 24/11/2018 17:58

Evening wenches.

The sound bar has gone back to Curry's. Although the sales guy said it would be compatible with the TV we don't think it is. The sound and vision weren't in sync. We spent the morning and half the afternoon messing around with it until I got a headache but couldn't get it right, although music was great through it. DH will go into the Sony shop and seek advice from them, probably should have done that in the first place.

I'm going to make a chicken curry and watch Strictly.

Have a good evening everyone. Wine

LetUsPrey · 24/11/2018 18:28

Circe is excellent Helen. Going to see if the library has Song of Achilles. Also going to look at more mythology books. I loved that subject when I was growing up. I remember “pre-reading” the first few Percy Jackson books to make sure they were okay for DS1 back in the day Grin

what a bugger that it didn’t work Apricot. I hate when the sound and vision aren’t in sync. Also doing Strictly later. I’m rooting for Joe now.

Hope Wicked’s had good fika.

speaking of which, when I was watching Mum one of the characters Pauline, who is just so wonderfully awful, asked for vodka. When she was told there’s also coke or tonic she said “oh I won’t be needing any of that” Grin

You have read Norse Mythology, haven't you LetUs
Joanne Harris has also done some fun Loki books.

ApricotCrush · 24/11/2018 18:56

I'm rooting for Joe too LetUs, he was brilliant last week.

LetUsPrey · 24/11/2018 18:58

No, no I have not. How did I miss that when I was looking at Neil Gaiman books after I’d finished Good Omens?

I’ll have a look at Joanne Harris too.

Second series was on BBC2 earlier this year Apricot. Doesn’t seem to be on iPlayer though —because it took me so long to get round to watching it—

FFS sake re. sound bar and useless salespeople.

Also FFS at DS who has got an attitude on him... Angry not helped by the fact that he and DH have been winding each other up all day

I’ve just been watching Operation Gold Rush. Lovely Dan Snow.

Skiing ("Been there!" says DH) and Formula 1 - qualifying maybe? not sure...

I think I'll stay in my virtual room of HBFs Grin

LetUsPrey · 24/11/2018 23:14

Thought you might like it Helen Grin

I’m watching a film called Divergent. I think it’s aimed at a teen audience but I’m quite enjoying it.

Morning wenches. DS2 was up at sparrow’s fart, playing his computer game. Bearing in mind he was still awake at 11.30 last night, I predict he’ll be super delightful later today.

Is bright and sunny here. I’d better get dressed.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/11/2018 09:53

Urgh LetUs - DS was also up at Sparrows Fart (as per)

I have done washing, dishwasher, cooked up apples, plus the usual livestock wrangling. And invited DF for tea to give me more motivation to shovel everything off the table into a box clear the dining table.

Washing will be done soon, so it has clouded over Hmm and Stupid Cat has colonised my lap.

I think I've heard of Divergent, I think I heard good things. I've never seen it (along with just about everything else out there in the world of TV and film.)

LetUsPrey · 25/11/2018 13:11

Am impressed by your early morning activity Helen

Have just discovered Divergent and Insurgent books on my Kindle app from when DS1 had a kindle Fire and it was linked to my account.

DS2 has done some homework supervised by DH whilst I was at sportingactivity. It’s the piece that’s due in a week on Monday and was the easiest to do. Never mind the two lots that’s going to take him ages today and that are due tomorrow

Speaking of sportingactivity, HBI was there but the two people behind me chatted constantly throughout so I missed a lot of stuff. Did manage to hear:

When you’re against the wall it has to be a firm movement
Make sure you grab really hard

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/11/2018 14:48

Athos is very good at firm movements against a wall - just saying... Grin

I have been shopping for exotic things like parsnips and swede. Plus a new kitchen tap. It's all so exciting!!! Not.

Homework is done here, with several "MUMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! I think I've done it wrong!" yodels.
Me: Hmm I have no idea what you were meant to do.
FFS at MrLetUs supervising low-priority homework.

LetUsPrey · 25/11/2018 18:23

Aaarrrrggghhhhhhhh homework aaarrrggghhhhhhh!!!!!! I fucking hate it. Really absolutely completely fucking loathe and hate it. It’s done but it’s either wrong or badly done. I don’t know what to do any more.

Thank fuck for Pimms.

I actually quite like a new tap Helen. Have you gone for anything Fancy ?

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 25/11/2018 18:42

Evening. Been watching a football match with DH. We lost. Booo!

Homework sounds a nightmare. There seems to be so much pressure on parents these days.

I'm supposed to be getting food ... Hmm

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 25/11/2018 19:22

Watching Hercule Poirot's Christmas with snow, a stately home and a very quaint village. I love this stuff Smile

FancyFancy · 25/11/2018 19:37

Evening.
Have been away for the weekend visiting DS - has been lovely. Back to real life now

Really ought to get on with getting dinner

-9 degrees? Yikes!

LetUsPrey · 25/11/2018 20:03

That sounds lovely Wicked. Snow in that situation is acceptable Grin

Have done Strictly results, now on Dynasties. Lions this week. Raaarrrrrrr
