I saw a woman in the Science Museum today, who really could only be described as having "let herself go"

Grey streaky "hanging" hair, huge arse and fat tum in grey tracky bottoms, footglove shoes, shapeless burgundy tunic top and hanging tits. She really looked like she had given up on life. In contrast, she had three dear little, divinely trendily dressed girls with her. She had obviously put a lot of thought and effort into what they were going to wear (down to the very funky hat one of them was wearing) but hadn't even spent five minutes on herself.

Why?

Well, it wasn't me.

I only have DSs.

Bless her-we all know how absolutely knackering they can be but at least she put effort into them-her time will come.(I hope)

LilyLoo · 16/04/2007 22:03

Poor woman no 'other half' then ?

Spidermama · 16/04/2007 22:03

Maybe she can't be arsed. Maybe she couldn't give a toss what anyone thinks of how she looks and she just wants to be comfortable on a day when she's giving her time over to take three kids round a museum.

Perhaps she was from the country.

give it 5 years and the daughters will take charge of her outfits.

WigWamBam · 16/04/2007 22:04

Apart from the grey hair and the fact that I only have one daughter (divinely trendily dressed) you could be describing me ...

SherlockLGJ · 16/04/2007 22:05

Maybe she is depressed.

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/04/2007 22:05

She was definitely their mother. A good bra and better fitting trousers would have done wonders for her, and made her look much better.

Alright, alright Trinny Woodall. Some people genuninely don't care how they look.

SherlockLGJ · 16/04/2007 22:06

Sorry but this should be in AIBU, to judge this woman ?

The answer would be a resounding YES

Dinosaur · 16/04/2007 22:06

But did she look happy? Was she having a lovely time with her girls? Did they look happy?

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/04/2007 22:06

Well I am a porker and I wouldn't venture out with no bra (tits would probably hang out the bottom of my top anyway).

Fillyjonk · 16/04/2007 22:07

um

so?

maybe she is deleriously happy as she is and doesn't give a shit what internet women think

i bloody hope so, because if there is any other reason for her being so relentlessly unfashionable (say a nasty divorce or recent bereavement) then judging her on an internet forum becomes rather nasty.

NotQuiteCockney · 16/04/2007 22:07

Maybe she didn't care? Maybe she used to be thinner and younger, and didn't think she looked good enough to bother with spending time and energy on her clothes? (You can't shine shit, as my father would say?)

I probably fall into this category, by some people's standards. I'm not particularly bothered.

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/04/2007 22:07

We all judge, Sherlock.
But most won't admit it.

LOL at Dinosaur "it wasn't me"

Dinosaur · 16/04/2007 22:08

[NQC - you always look great!]

Jealousyisgreen · 16/04/2007 22:08

For all you know, this time last year she could have weighed 25 stone and was hating life. Now she may have loads weight and is feeling confident.

I often look at myself in shop windows and think "look at the size of my stomach, arms, arse" But in contrast to the way I looked this time last year, I have lost 2 stone and looks heaps better. Goodness knows what others think of me though.

Ah well.

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/04/2007 22:08

And yes, they all looked happy.
