hiya-not doing so bad-Ben has had a few probs with reflux, a heart murmer and yesterday we got sent to the hospital as he had bronchiolitis!
All of this has meant that unfortunately he is now waking up two hourly during the night, but he can;t help it at the moment. BF is still going well-he has also taken one bottle a day from 3 weeks, his meds for reflux seem to be helping, so that is good. He is a bit of a velcro baby at the moment, hence typing one handed!
Hope you are both well and LOs are thriving.

EdieMcredie · 09/01/2008 16:56

Oh no you poor things-how did you find out he had a heart murmor? Is he okay now?

Well done for sticking with the BFing through such a difficult time though!

Millie is good, today I had to go for a colposcopy because I had a couple of abnormal smears but nothing to worry about.

Millie is still sleeping through night so im very very lucky.

Trying to figure out how to get some pics of her onto my profile page xx

I noticed that he kept going blue around his mouth, so told the health visitor, who it turns out used to work in a children's heart dept, she told me to get it checked out by GP. He sauys it is very mild, but to go to the hospital at the end of the month to make sure.
When do you get your test results back?
I keep thinking of giving up BF, but his weight gain (apart from when he was ill) has been fantastic, so feel I've got no reason not to BF (apart from exhaustion). Last night gave Ben formula at 10 o'clock and it made no difference to his sleep-he is just a snacker!

EdieMcredie · 13/01/2008 17:25

Yes I doubt giving formula would help him sleep-think that's an urban myth from what ive read.

I think you are doing very well with the BFing-would be good to carry on if you can. He is obviously doing very well on it. Giving formula as well can sometimes damage breastfeeding though. Could you try and express milk from morning to give in the evening if you need a break? Or was it simply to help with sleep?

I will get my results in about 3 weeks now.

I've been doing the bottle of formula as well as the likelihood is that he will have to go onto the thickened formula because of the reflux like the other two did, so as with the others from 3 weeks I've got them used to expressed and formula from a bottle so that they are used to it- I've been fortunate with the other two that they didn't get confused. DS1 would drink from any teat and I'm sure a bucket if I'd tried it! DS2 and Ben both prefer NUK teats, althought Ben has the Tommie Tippee one occasionally (but that is too soft to dream feed with).
Just now he had expressed milk and then went straight on to me as he wanted more!

lynnec · 14/01/2008 20:35

Hi ladies, how are you both? Hows the los doing?

Hope you both had a nice xmas and new year.

Me and Kayla are both well...Kayla is just so big i cant beleive it!! Shes wearing 9-12 months clothes, thats her 5months now, ive just added in few pics of her.

Not been around, we've been doing alot of work in one of the houses we rent out, so thats been keeping me busy.

I hope you are both well and the los are well too, speak soon xxx

Jossiejump · 15/01/2008 14:53

Good to hear from you Lynne-sounds like Kayla is doing fantastically. You give me hope that I will once more be able to get on with jobs in the future! I'd forgotten real life with a baby, although Ben is clingy like DS1, with DS2 I was able to do more.

EdieMcredie · 02/02/2008 22:58

Hey girls...long time no hear!

How are you both?

All good here, Millie is teething which is horrible for her but she is still giving plenty of smiles and mostly sleeping through night. She is 20 weeks now, going to start weaning at 6 months.

I have taken up ice skating, having private lessons at the moment. It's bloody scary but always wanted to do it and eventually want to get into dancing on ice.

Love to both of you, waiting to hear about LO's.

Hey girls...are you about?

OP posts:
Jossiejump · 06/03/2008 19:56

Hiya
Sorry I've not been on the computer much at all.
Ben is doing well and growing rapidly-still BF atm and its not going too bad.
We are trying to decorate everywhere-the spare room to move DS2 into, then DS2's room to move DS1 into, then DS1's room to move DS3 into, so that we get the space back in our bedroom!
Really scary thing happened this week-my childminder has a little girl who is 9 days younger than Ben, she stopped breathing and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance! She is fine and we lent her our spare monitor that detects breathing, we have always used one since DS1 stopped breathing once due to the reflux, so we had a spare one at my parents house. The hospital say it may have been due to gunk from her cold, but it is scary to think what would have happened if the Mum hadn't woken up to the noises of her trying to breathe . I kept thinking about it all the time.
How are you both? You LOs aren't so little now .
I've now got past the birth dates of all three of my m/cs so am greatly relieved.
Bye for now
J

EdieMcredie · 08/03/2008 19:47

Josie how scary for your poor CM.

Im all good thankyou, Millie is a whopping 18lbs now and we have started weaning her. Only began a week ago so still doing baby rice and porridge and yoghurt, stuff like that. I have made some organic purees to start her on for next week.
She has started to wake once in the night for a feed so that's why we thought she was probably ready for weaning...

Glad Ben is doing well-how old is he now?

Im still ice-skating-is going okayish!

How are you Lynne and little Kayla?

Hiya
Ben is fine-he's 15 weeks now and last week weighed 15lbs! I'm going to start giving him baby rice next week as I started the other 2 at that age and they eat pretty much anything, so I'm hoping that if I do the same with Ben then he will be the same-he's also constantly chewing his hands, mimicing me chewing and has started to wake up earlier in the night again. It's strange as because he is going to be our last LO I am reluctant to get him on to each next step, I would rather enjoy each stage for as long as I can, but equally I don't want him to be a fussy eater.
Glad to know your skating is going well

lynnec · 01/04/2008 22:11

Ladies, glad you and lo are doing well, me and kayla are well, kayla is now 8months(wearing 18-24months clothes) shes just over 19lb but very long, ive been very busy with the houses we rent out, have been looking at another house to buy and rent, just round the corner from us, plus been doing alot of m/shops, infact we're never home,i hate being in the house, love to be out in the fresh air with Kayla(hail, rain or shine) LOL
Im so glad we are all doing well, hope to hear from you soon xxxxx

EdieMcredie · 02/04/2008 20:51

Hi Lynne-good to hear from you! What kind of m/shopping work are you getting? I haven't done any for a long time now, although would be very handy to get paid for going into baby shops as im forever in them!

Have a look on the weaning threads for advice Josie-im always on them, although I expect you don't need any having done it all before. Im always asking daft questions about what Millie can and can't have.

Passed level 1 and 2 in skating the other day although need to get to 10 so still a way to go!!

A friend of mine had a baby Friday so going to see her tomorrow-im so excited-can't remember Millie being that small!

Goodness I hadn't realised that so much time had passed since I was on here!!
How old are your LOs now?
Ben is doing really well, he now loves his solid food after a shaky start and weighs 17.5lbs!!
DH is going away on a course next week, so I've got a week of organising 3 DSs and myself, by myself . We will be glad to see him back
Hope you are doing well

EdieMcredie · 11/05/2008 21:00

We are being rubbish at catching up!!

Are either of you on facebook?

Could be an easier way of keeping in touch...

Millie is almost 8 months and doing well.

Love to you all xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I'm not on facebook-can't risk signing up to anything that will make me spend even more time on the computer
I'll have to keep checking in more regularly!

EdieMcredie · 13/05/2008 22:01

Ha ha, I must admit Josie, it's very addictive. But would be a great way for the three of us to stay in touch...
