DH made a two-man canoe when he was young and we used to take it on holiday with another couple. I could write a book about their escapades in it. They had all the gear, wet suits, helmets, weight belts, the lot but sadly they didn't always live up to the image.

A crowd once gathered on the beach when they prepared to launch it but they weren't balanced and got in one side and immediately fell out the other. That night in the bar we overheard someone say "Did you see those idiots on the beach this afternoon with the canoe?" My friend and I disowned them.

DS2 brought his report home today. I'm super proud of him. He's tried so hard this year and his teacher's impressed with his progress, academically and personally. He's written some really nice things about him and the headteacher has written a lovely message too. I may have shed one or two happy tears.

Going to tidy up in the kitchen, do the dishes, etc whilst watching the Federerer match that's about to start.

MrApes made a canoe Wow! But weatsuits and helmets? Where they rafting or something?

Here it is in all its glory! They made their wet suits as well, they used to go diving. We used to put all our beach gear in it and carry it down cliff paths to get to isolated beaches. Happy days!

Thanks wenches. He still finds many aspects of English and literacy really tricky but he's worked so hard at school and his confidence generally has rocketed. And he got all 1s for effort too!
