Cripes! March already!?

Have things been quiet this part of the year, or is it just me? Only had one call for a casting a couple of weeks ago and couldn't make it. Otherwise - nada!

Lets hope March picks up!

Hi BigmummaL
We have had about 3 jobs so far and a couple of fittings but even when you get a 'job' there is no guarantee that they will use your baby. You all get the same pay once selected at that stage whoever gets the actual job - I think.

BigmummaL · 24/03/2007 20:25

Lizzymouse69 - What jobs did your DS do? Were they straight jobs or did you go to castings / fittings first?

Have decided am going to go by train on Monday, although think the journey on my own is going to be a bit of a struggle. Am going to get off at Hammersmith as don't have to change then from L. St and will walk from there.

lizzymouse69 · 24/03/2007 21:19

Hi BigmummaL
I think the first one was a casting for Practical Parenting mag - his pic was used but not for a few months. Next one was Prima baby - no casting didn't get pic used - mini boden was casting and fitting - don't think pic was used but will wait to see summer cat.. then got Empire casting and fitting but he had ants in his pants and the clothes were too small. Would prefer not to go to castings but then we have had some nice days out when they have been early and at weekends. Have you used the trains/tube before for castings??

onehackedoffmuma · 24/03/2007 21:31

Hi BigmummaL and Lizzymouse. Are your LOs both with UA?

My ds has been with them for just over a year now and he has had most of his work through straight jobs. The castings that he has been for which I think totals around 7/8 he has had 2 jobs from.

it's such hit and miss sometimes as I remember his first ever casting. the people seemed so unenthusiatic about him that i thought he had no chance and then we get the call to say he had been picked. Then other times i think they he seems to have shined and he doesnt get the job!!!

Well good luck for your castings next week xxx

julie4travel · 24/03/2007 21:32

hi lizzymouse - did you do the practical parenting casting on 15th feb? my dd went to that yet was unsuccessful yet she was one ofthe oldest there. she couldnt compete with some of the gorgeous babies i saw there! congrats on the jobs though

anyone heard on elc yet?

lizzymouse69 · 24/03/2007 22:09

Hi Onehackedoffmuma and Julie4travel - thanks - no we didn't do PP feb -this is the first thing since Empire in Jan.
Yes ds is with ua since May last year.
You're def right about it being hit and miss. Just when I think he's got it - he hasn't and vice versa. The PP one was last year when he first joined - may/june time. He seems to have a lot of big gaps between jobs. Good luck to everyone with jobs and castings

julie4travel · 24/03/2007 22:14

lizzymouse good luck for mon

lizzymouse69 · 24/03/2007 22:22

Thanks Julie x

BigmummaL · 25/03/2007 14:55

Thanks everyone, good luck for all castings / jobs too xxx

Onehackedoffmumma - yeah my ds is with UA and has been since Dec.

Lizzymouse69 - I went by train to the last casting as it was near London Bridge so I just got off from Liverpool St and walked from there. On the occasions though we have driven.

lizzymouse69 · 25/03/2007 19:13

Hi BigmummaL
Just wanted to say good luck for tomorrow. I'm not that good on the trains - my brother is driving us tomorrow so should be ok. I think there is meter street parking. If you here a funny Catherine Tate Nan like laugh - thats my ds. We hope to be there for 10.30 so may cross!!

BigmummaL · 25/03/2007 20:34

Thanks Lizzymouse69, good luck to you too, hope to see you there. x

BigmummaL · 26/03/2007 17:39

Lizzymouse69 - How did the Blooming Marvelous casting go? DS's went quite badly I thought, the man taking photos didn't seem interested at all and only took his height when I mentioned it! Oh well, hope it went better for you. Did you find the place ok, it was a bit of nightmare to find I thought?

totallyfloaty35 · 26/03/2007 18:11

Dont worry bigmumma, whenever my kids castings seem to go badly they get the job,so dont give up hope yet

lizzymouse69 · 26/03/2007 18:38

Hi BigmummaL
It went Ok but there was a couple of grizzles before he got some smiley shots. He took the height first. Seemed to try to get good shots of him. Let him walk round the office till he got them. Found it ok but only cos of the sat nav. Parked 5 mins away in multi but it was v cheap!! 80p for over an hour!! I don't suppose he'll get picked but it was a nice day. got there 11ish. Then went for coffee after. What time did you get back? I always feel if it went ok didnt get it..

BigmummaL · 26/03/2007 21:47

Am glad things went better for you Lizzymouse69 and thanks Totallyfloaty. Just going to try and forget about it now I think!

Got home at 1pm in the end.

x

clj118 · 26/03/2007 22:29

Sorry have not posted re New look job, it went well as her 1st job, was a bit of a nightmare as we were told to be there for 11.30 so she was all ready, lunch early fresh faced and then waited around til about 1.30 til they changed her and took the pics, was stressfull as Sienna was well and truly ready for her sleep, she seemed to do well considering! The pics looked lovely, did ask for a copy but was told could not due to copyright reasons??
We went to the other casting for New look which was on 16th which was Pr usage and she has got that job too which is exciting, only trouble is gotta be in Hackney for 8.30am on Weds, (nightmare).
Also got Asda casting on Thursday so things are picking up for Sienna definately but poor Kia only had the Boden!

Hope everyones castings, jobs go well this week!

clj118 · 26/03/2007 22:34

Hey bigmumma, how are you?

Lizzymouse and bigmumma, I'm sure they will get the job, fingers crossed!!

lizzymouse69 · 27/03/2007 19:52

Hi clj118
Thanks for your kind words. Have a great day tomorrow. How old are your lo's??

clj118 · 27/03/2007 20:37

dd1 is 3 and dd2 is 10 months, how old is your lo?

BigmummaL · 27/03/2007 20:52

Hi Clj118, good to hear from you. We are well thank you although ds has a cold and is a bit grizzly! Hope he is better by the weekend as am busy this week organising his 1st birthday party.

I'm glad the New Look job went well. Well done Sienna!! x

Hope things pick up with Kia soon too. xxx

Hi Lizzymouse69 - We haven't heard anything re Blooming Marvelous so I definitely reckon it's a no for ds.

lizzymouse69 · 27/03/2007 21:11

Hi clj118 and BigmummaL

My ds is 19 months. Don't give up hope on the job BigmummaL - sometimes they leave it till the last minute - like Fri as its not till next week or the week after. Hope your ds enjoys his birthday. Did you have nice sunshine today??

BigmummaL · 27/03/2007 21:34

Thanks Lizzymouse69. Yeah it was a lovely sunny day today. Where in Essex do you live, we live not far from Chelmsford?

lizzymouse69 · 27/03/2007 22:25

Hi BigmummaL
We are about 15 mins away from Chelmsford. Sun shone all day and spent most of the day outside. In between Danbury and Heybridge - if you know the area??

mygirlsmum · 28/03/2007 12:15

hi everyone just wondering if any of you have seen children from childsplay/allsorts agency at any jobs or castings
They have a long list of clients that they have supplied models too but they want £25 for a test shoot for my dd then a further £120 if they accept her
anyone know anything about them at all?

goingfor3 · 28/03/2007 14:11

You're more likely to find kids from childsplay/allsorts at commerical castings where they see many more children than at photographic castings and jobs. They get work but I have never seen any kids from them at jobs.
