ellismummy · 06/11/2006 11:10

Hi ellesmum, at mo he is with bma, who in my opinion are not that great, but at least it only cost £35 to join them, now he is due to start with ts in Jan, but have been invited to consultation with ua, so may go to that and see what happens, if they say yes, not sure whether we will join them or not as have already paid out a lot of money for ts.

Cold here too, however dont mind cold and dry it is when it is cold and damp its horrible.

ellismummy · 06/11/2006 11:34

Julie, on alba website they have pics from the british isles contest, one of the boys in the background looks like your ds, have you seen them?, just wondering if thats him.

Meid · 06/11/2006 11:42

Hi everyone. I hope you don't mind me jumping in again with some questions.

My DD has an assessment next week with the Norrie Carr Agency. What can I expect? Is anyone with Norrie Carr and can advise me?

Also, we haven't gone as far as approaching her school yet - we'll wait until we've signed with an agency first - but I wanted to know what kind of response I might get. Does it vary from school to school? Is there any advice I can be given in the approach?

Many thanks.
meid x

NewDKmum · 06/11/2006 11:58

Hiya,

Meid - sorry I don't have any experience in terms of Norrie Carr or handling schools.

It really is quite cold isn't it? Am preparing a nice warm lunch while dd is napping...

Anyone else who likes watching Deal or no deal? Can't believe I have done this, but actually applied to become a contestant when they opened the lines after last night's show . Oh well, probably won't hear from them anyway.

lindac · 06/11/2006 13:09

i looked on alba i think that is juies ds looking ever so smart

lindac · 06/11/2006 13:10

sorry julies x

julie4travel · 06/11/2006 14:43

ellismummy and lindac yes thats my ds being knocked out by a big dress he he!

meid i went for assesment with norrie carr that is a one on one assesment where they talk to the child etc. My ds was 5 when he went for assesment and she asked what he wanted to do etc. my ds wasn't the greatest behaved at that appointment yet he did get offered a place. After lots of deciding by me he went with b and b yet nc and ts were the next choice we were going to go with. they start rep the child as soon as the photoshoot is over which is good. Think they charged £135 for a year. another mum maybe on later who was with them last year who may be able to help you. They mainly do tv work over photographic so they told me.

good luck with your assesment

Hi Lindac
Re Scala where was the casting and what was it for. I live near Scala in Leeds, you have to have go to an audition and then go to there classes everyweek aparently lots of my daughters friends have tried to get in and they didn't get through audition.

housemum · 06/11/2006 17:09

Meid - we were with Norrie Carr but only from age 1 to 2 so not much help to you. From what I have heard, they are great for babies and for older (school age) kids, not so much for the 3-4 yr olds which is where I am now so we've switched to B&B. Certainly no complaints with NC - DD had enough work when she was in the "desirable" age range.

I think the response varies from school to school - obviously I have no experience but I have asked the question at the infant schools we have been visiting - one brochure was really off-putting, insisting that any absence other than a few listed reasons was unauthorised, the school we prefer anyway is of the opinion that in the early years kids learn as much from other life experiences so modelling, music exams, skating exams etc are all fine if you let them know, and they were OK when I explained that we sometimes wouldn't know until the night before - the admin lady said that if the head could agree it he would.

lindac · 06/11/2006 18:08

hi critabel
my dd did some filming last week and some of the lead roles in the film were from scala, the boy who was playing the young colin firth is with them has been since he was 4,his been in loads of tv stuff,my dd reconised him from johnny and the bomb, she was more impressed with that then colin firth! i beleive you also have to do drama classes with them ,but the chaporone who was with the girl from them said they are brilliant,
good luck with your audition with them
