What pointless one woman/man boycott are you staging?

Here's my one woman boycotts.

I have boycotted Wadebridge because they elected a total wanker to the town council who said that disabled children should be culled to save money. I rarely visit Wadebridge anyway.

I have also boycotted Dartington Hall Estate for unreasonable parking fines. I park outside the grounds. Nobody cares.

And lego minifigures as DS2 always ends up with a frigging princess or mermaid or something and we have to deal with the tears. I'm sure their sales figures are unaffected.

None of my boycotts will make any difference whatsoever. I realise this.

So what are your pointless boycotts?

Oh, this is one of my favourite games!

I will not go to Tescos, for many political reasons, but also because the store smells of doughnuts and I think that is just evil and a ploy to make customers fat.

I will not go to any cafe that is backed or owned by tescos, no matter how good their coffee is.

MacDonalds, for all the usual reasons. Has now been over 20 years since I stepped foot in one.

KFC, because, in 1991, they once gave me 2 pieces of chicken instead of 3.

One of our local libraries because they accused me of losing a book I brought back.

Leicester Forest East service station.

DialsMavis · 25/09/2014 17:10

I'm boycotting the toilet next door to work that I am meant to use. The shop has been split in 2, our side is all clean and shiny and new but has no running water, so we are meant to use their side (we pay 1/2 the utilities).

I only ever used it for emergency wee's as it's revolting.
There was no light for months, there is no hot water for hand washing, just a drippy cold tap, and they turn the water off when it's not in use (wtf). You have to lean round the filthy toilet and turn the pipe on and off when you are done or they tell you off. There was no soap or toilet roll until I bought some.

The crone from next door came in on Monday and said it's always in a state now and could I buy some bleach.

I have never and would never poo in THERE. It was always filthy but until we asked for a light they couldn't see it.

I bought the bloody bleach, but am now boycotting. Now I pay 20p to use the one in the tube station or buy endless coffees from the cafe up the road to use theirs.

Oh yes, I'm boycotting my library too, for the same reason. They're boycotting me in return, and have cancelled my membership. They have no idea who they're fucking with...

The library said I hadn't returned a book, then I found it on the shelves! I haven't boycotted, but I mention the transgression at every possible opportunity

SouthernComforts · 25/09/2014 17:21

I've never eaten a KFC and I never will. I finally decided to try one after friends raved about the hangover curing elixir that is KFC gravy. I drove there hungover, hungry, tired but full of hope... It was shut. The gut wrenching disappointment has never quite left me.

sunnyrosegarden · 25/09/2014 17:24

The library one is a BIG DEAL to me. I actually remembered the conversation with the librarian when I checked it back in, which made it worse. In the end, I went to another branch and explained and they were very kind and understanding.

oohlalaland · 25/09/2014 17:26

M&S .I live in France and now have to use the french online site which is more expensive and does not have the full ranges and the sales are rubbish too.

I am also boycotting cooking on Saturday evenings for the duration of strictly

ShatnersBassoon · 25/09/2014 17:27

I just get DH to take books out for me on his card. It really riles the librarians I imagine.

Some more - the local WH Smiths, because dh overheard a manager screaming at a member of staff, and was disgusted.

Abel and Cole, because they once phoned and left a message, then proceeded to talk about me forgetting to hang up first - called me "That Bloody Woman", and said "she never answers her phone". Very rude...

The Daily Mail, since 1991.

WookieCookiee · 25/09/2014 17:38

We too boycott "Anything owned by Rupert Murdoch" Except Sky TV. Because apparently we "cannot live" without sports. Take that, Murdoch!

Yep, he's really trembling.

I also boycott aldi & lidl but ssshh don't tell anyone on Mumsnet.

CalamitouslyWrong · 25/09/2014 17:40

DS1's new school has a principal. And it's a free school. It goes against all my principles, but it is an improvement on his old school (which was a crapademy anyway, and had an evil principal too). So there you go.

Titsalinabumsquash · 25/09/2014 17:41

I boycott The Sun because it's a shitty newspaper for "lads" and I'd rather be entertained by a used piece of toilet roll.

We as a family also boycott Chiquitos because I had a miscarriage that caused huge flooding and me getting very faint, DP quietly asked to cancel the orders because I needed medical attention and they tried to bill him for them! Angry

I refuse to pick up a pizza from Dominoes. They used to get a lot of business from us but we moved 1 bastard mile away from their delivery cut off point and they won't let me pay for the extra mile.

ShelaghTurner · 25/09/2014 17:43

KFC, because, in 1991, they once gave me 2 pieces of chicken instead of 3.

That's my kind of boycott.

sanfairyanne · 25/09/2014 17:45

i will also boycott wadebridge Grin

we boycott murdoch except for the times

and clarks
but i still buy clarks, just in independent storesBlush

sunnyrosegarden · 25/09/2014 17:45

Shelagh- I was a very Angry Young Woman at that point;)

fillie · 25/09/2014 17:46

I 'boycott' a local pub in my home town, they refused to serve me tap water when I was breastfeeding, offering me orange squash for 80p I made a huge fuss and was banned for life! So I have no choice really!

FishWithABicycle · 25/09/2014 17:52

I have a relative who is now boycotting Scotland - he decided to do so before the referendum, on the grounds that if they voted yes he would boycott them in revenge for leaving, and if they voted no he would boycott them on the grounds that they would have only voted no to get their hands on the massive subsidies from english taxpayers they were being offered. So just having the referendum basically earned his wrath.

The boycott is not just against going there, but also having anything like aberdeen angus steak or scottish smoked salmon or scotch whiskey. I think it's his loss really and, given that he won't be going there, probably Scotland's gain...

BellaBearisWideAwake · 25/09/2014 17:54

I boycott a local cafe after they tried to get away with charging proper coffee price for instant. They haven't yet noticed.

atticusclaw · 25/09/2014 17:56

Woody Allen films for obvious reasons.

cariad34 · 25/09/2014 17:56

I'm boycotting Citroen after the appalling service I had off them when my husband died. They denied we'd taken out payment protection on the car, and despite sending proof and getting solicitors involved they wouldn't budge. Just stuck with the line that we'd "chosen" to stop making the payments.
Yes because of course my husband "chose" to die and "chose" to leave me on one wage and unable to make the payment.
Barclay Bank as well. Also astonishingly unhelpful and kept insisting on speaking to the main cardholder. Was so tempted to offer them a ouija board......

Wow, that was a bit of a rant lol Smile

NoArmaniNoPunani · 25/09/2014 17:57

I've been boycotting Australian products since I split up from my Australian ex 5 years ago

ShelaghTurner · 25/09/2014 18:01

We're a seething, angry bunch on the quiet aren't we? :o
