What pointless one woman/man boycott are you staging?

Here's my one woman boycotts.

I have boycotted Wadebridge because they elected a total wanker to the town council who said that disabled children should be culled to save money. I rarely visit Wadebridge anyway.

I have also boycotted Dartington Hall Estate for unreasonable parking fines. I park outside the grounds. Nobody cares.

And lego minifigures as DS2 always ends up with a frigging princess or mermaid or something and we have to deal with the tears. I'm sure their sales figures are unaffected.

None of my boycotts will make any difference whatsoever. I realise this.

So what are your pointless boycotts?

Fucking Wadebridge.

I boycott Tesco for causing me hassle. Except on Thursdays when I get whatever I can't get in Aldi added to my sister's delivery.

hugoagogo · 25/09/2014 18:47

The lush shop in our town- for not giving me a job.
Sky anything because they are the evil empire.
A local corner shop because the owner was stroppy with me for not wanting to buy out of date chocolate Hmm
French cheese because French people don't eat British cheese ( I have no idea if this is true)

starfishmummy · 25/09/2014 18:49

Various local shops because of their useless wheelchair access. I understand that they are old buildings and access might mean them getting a ramp out but putting a notice up saying to ask for help is no help if there is no way to ask without going in ....

My once favourite Starbucks. I appreciate that is isn't exactly their fault that the shop it is in is no longer a bookshop but it isn't the same....

And I was going to say that I was prepared to boycott Wadebridge when the ban was lifted, so now I am boycotting nevergoogle Grin

TiggyD · 25/09/2014 18:50

Starburst for their stupid new name. Once an Opal Fruit, always an Opal Fruit!

nevergoogle · 25/09/2014 19:00

Shethinkshespeople - i like the idea of you walking out of the job in Burgh Island and then having to sit and wait for a jolly ride on the giant tractor thing for a lift to the mainland. Must have been hard to keep angry and stop yourself going 'weeeeeeeee'.

That's a shame Pastor, that pub does a good burger!

Keswick should be boycotted for crimes against fashion. But I couldn't keep it up if offered lunch at the Lakeland Peddlar.

PLEASE STOP BOYCOTTING WADEBRIDGE THOUGH!!! It was my one woman boycott and i've now lifted it having read that the offending councillor died last summer.

This thread has really given me the giggles though. I love how the boycotts only last until you need something.

I love this thread for reassuring me that, contrary to the teenage moaners in this house, other people also boycott Rupert Murdoch. Apparently we are the only people in the UK who don't have Sky...

nevergoogle · 25/09/2014 19:17

Oh we don't have sky Tranquility. Or buy the sun. But it's largely because we have no interest. Not sure that counts.

Tesco, I appear to finally be having some impact Grin

ConkerTime · 25/09/2014 19:23

Harper CollinsShock

specialsubject · 25/09/2014 19:25

Rimmel for their continued funding of the all-kinds-of-wrong K*e M*s.

however I buy makeup once every 2 years or so hence I doubt anyone notices!

Roussette · 25/09/2014 19:28

The nearest petrol station to me (which isn't close!) The cashier in there is so RUDE. There are 8 pumps and even if you are the only person getting petrol he insists on knowing the number of the pump. If I say I don't know, but I'm the only person here so can I just pay please, he is really rude and shouts and makes me walk out, look and walk back to tell him, when quite obviously he has the amount in front of him.

Also had my card cloned after a visit in there so I'm convinced they have a camera in the ceiling watching me putting in my PIN and I have to put my hand over it, which is probably why he won't let me pay without the pump number.

I boycotted an independent bakery near me for about 10 years. Used to buy baps in there and the old woman serving was so feckin miserable and rude. DD and I had a game whereby she used to go in instead of me, all smiley, and in her brightest chirpiest voice say "Good Morning! A bag of your best baps please!" and if the woman smiled I bought her sweets. She kept trying and trying. Never happened so I bought her sweets for effort.

Badvoc123 · 25/09/2014 19:29

The Sun
Tesco
Sky
All for fairly obvious reasons.
And Norfolk.

DurhamDurham · 25/09/2014 19:31

I boycott Lakeland because when my husband was made redundant that was the first job he applied for. He got through to second interview stage but then didn't get itHe didn't really want to work there and he has since gone on to much better things but still I feel the need to flounce past the shop whenever I see it.

He did get turned down for other jobs too but the first one just seemed more personal. My husband has no such bad feelings and sometimes pops in to buy their liquorice.

PragmaticWench · 25/09/2014 19:34

I almost forgot, I've started a boycott of our village shop this week. Popped in for a several magnums as I'd run out and need one a day to satisfy my unborn child. The smug, nitwit shop-keeper dared to say 'Ooh naughty!' as I reached into the freezer. That's an instant boycott reason, don't comment on anything a vastly pregnant person is buying or eating.

They also generally sell horrible cheap versions of biscuits which winds me up.

nevergoogle · 25/09/2014 19:43

wow that is rude! if anybody had commented on my ice lolly requirements last year when pregnant they too would have been give short shrift.

3 fruit pastille lollies or passion fruit lollies daily is entirely necessary.

BikeRunSki · 25/09/2014 19:51

My village shop. The owner is rude, arrogant and usually makes me or one of the dc cry. I was delighted when a Tesco local opened about a mile away a couple of years ago. I realise that I am in the minoriy and will be flamed for my Tesco love.

TheScottishPlay · 25/09/2014 19:52

The BBC, especially Nick Robinson for their bias during the Independence Referendum.
Ditto the Labour Party.
John Lewis and Asda for their statements re the referendum.
A fair few MNers for their part in the horrendous 'haggi' thread.
I'll get over it, just not yet.

Rainicorn · 25/09/2014 19:57

I am boycotting any business that uses text speak or really bad grammar in its name. This includes my old favourite sandwich shop that was taken over by new owners and renamed it Luv Ur Grub.

I'm also boycotting my local, post office as the staff are grumpy as sin and never smile or acknowledge you.

BigglesFliesUndone · 25/09/2014 20:01

The Seychelles. because there is no way I will ever afford to go there as it's probably exploitative, perhaps Envy

Rainicorn · 25/09/2014 20:05

Also boycotting Kinder Eggs since they changed to boy/girl eggs.

GraduallyGoneInsane · 25/09/2014 20:11

The local sweet shop, because the owner looks greasy, picks his nose and then handles the sweets. Yuk. The kids know we can't go in because of him.

The sun. Hillsborough and exploitation of women.

Gordon's solicitors in Leeds, because they conned my elderly relative out of a significant amount of money for a service which he did not need when he was clearly struggling with Alzheimer's. Bastards.

Starbucks, because the coffee is shit. except at Christmas when the special sugary drinks are on offer.

American Apparel because the owner is a sleaze. I am sure this hasn't impacted hugely as I'm much too old to wear their poorly made garments, and the DDs persist in buying it regardless of my protests.

Greggs the bakers, because they gave me food poisoning twice!

PragmaticWench · 25/09/2014 20:14

Ooh yes to Kinder eggs!! I've never bought one, but certainly won't now that they've gone down the pink/barbie and blue/transformer route. Outrageous.

starsandunicorns · 25/09/2014 20:20

The county of Lincolnshire lived there twice both times unhappy so avoid the whole of county won't even bid on items on eBay if the seller is from the county as I don't even want to see a postcode from the area and have it in my house

The cafe under our flat shit food \ service and the owners are horrid plus they block the shared drain that our balcony uses with fat and it then smells plus the owner sometimes parks his car in the parking bay that I like

Slubberdegullion · 25/09/2014 20:20

Oh blimey. For a few hours now I've been worrying about my most favourite scarf coming from cunting Wadebridge and how I was going to have to choose between burning the hateful product thereof of forgoing a righteous boycott.

But I've just remembered I bought it in Woodbridge not Wadebridge so it's safe. Phew.

Woodbridge is just lovely.

dalekanium · 25/09/2014 20:31

Peterborough.

All of it. A manager in WHSmith was very rude to me on a visit there in 1997and it put me right off the place. Never been before or since.
