What pointless one woman/man boycott are you staging?

Here's my one woman boycotts.

I have boycotted Wadebridge because they elected a total wanker to the town council who said that disabled children should be culled to save money. I rarely visit Wadebridge anyway.

I have also boycotted Dartington Hall Estate for unreasonable parking fines. I park outside the grounds. Nobody cares.

And lego minifigures as DS2 always ends up with a frigging princess or mermaid or something and we have to deal with the tears. I'm sure their sales figures are unaffected.

None of my boycotts will make any difference whatsoever. I realise this.

So what are your pointless boycotts?

Clintons as they overcharge customers when they run their 3for2 offer. Also since they re branded they've cut down on their card range to make more room for tatty gifts.

nevergoogle · 25/09/2014 16:22

Haha at Jayne Torvill, that's brilliant!

I boycott David Cameron. I switch off the radio or mute the television every time he opens his mouth.

ShelaghTurner · 25/09/2014 16:22

As the joke goes, I drove through Wadebridge once, it was shut... Wink

BunnyLebowski · 25/09/2014 16:23

I am boycotting Almost Famous, a recently opened burger restaurant here in Leeds.

Apparently they make one of the best burgers DP has ever tasted.

They also call their burger sauce 'Slut Sauce' and have a cocktail called 'Bitch Juice' HmmAngry .

Legionofboom · 25/09/2014 16:24

FIL once boycotted all things French in protest at the French nuclear testing. MIL used to hide brie in a margarine tub at the back of the fridge Grin

HarlotOTara · 25/09/2014 16:25

Anything by Jeffrey Archer - he is a slime all

The drama about Cilla Black on ITV as I can't stand her although dh says it is good

Ryanair too for the same reason

I have loads but do forget them

RufusTheReindeer · 25/09/2014 16:25

My friend is boycotting the other cafe in the village (which makes getting together for a coffee a bit difficult) because it makes shit bacon sandwiches

She has never forgiven them

Legionofboom · 25/09/2014 16:27

Rufus I don't blame your friend, there is little that is more disappointing in life than a shit bacon sandwich Grin

TunipTheUnconquerable · 25/09/2014 16:28

I've been boycotting Tescos since around 2002 when they failed to deliver my online order 3 times in a row and then charged my card 3 times for groceries that never arrived.

I see from the business news that finally my boycott is having an effect
Just goes to show persistence always pays off. Smile

basgetti · 25/09/2014 16:28

I've been boycotting a local carpet shop for about 2 years since their fitters tried to rip me off. But since I don't actually need any flooring at the moment anyway it's definitely pointless!

TheJiminyConjecture · 25/09/2014 16:29

I'm boycotting our local Prezzo after appalling service and the fact that they didn't de-vein the prawns. Vom.

Also boycotting HSBC after they closed my account and applied a default by mistake! I'm sure they notice that one Grin

Companies such as British Gas, RAC and countless others are all on my shit list!

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 25/09/2014 16:30

John Lewis, as I'm not getting free cake over Christmas with my loyalty card.
Ds boycotts all things coca cola after watching programme about their cuntish ways.

miaowmix · 25/09/2014 16:31

Hope & Greenwood, because they were mean to my friend. I don't think they care though. And I realise this is a bit niche Grin.

BalloonSlayer · 25/09/2014 16:31
  • I have been boycotting Morrisons since they declined to pay for an alert put out by the Anaphlyaxis campaign when one of their products contained an undeclared allergen that could have killed someone. This is unheard of - ALL big companies cough up for the alert mailshot. There was no Morrisons anywhere near us at the time and I felt so strongly I considered moving house to near to one so I could boycott it properly. Grin However we did go to one on holiday, so maybe my boycott has lapsed.
  • I boycott parent and child spaces YES EVEN WHEN IT IS PISSING DOWN AND I HAVE A SMALL BABY. I spent many years thinking I would never be able to have children and it made me miserable and resentful that people who had that wonderful blessing got special treatment as if they were suffering some sort of hardship. I have never forgotten how those spaces made me feel and I have never parked in one and never will. I sometimes wished when the DCs were small that I could witness a P&T parking row and I say to the childless person daring to try to park in the P&T space "you can have my space, love" as I struggled by with my 2 under twos.

Who are Hope & Greenwood?

I have never heard of Wadebridge, and I'll make sure I keep it that way OP Grin

CalamitouslyWrong · 25/09/2014 16:32

Nevergoogle: you can join in our John Lewis boycott. It doesn't seem to prevent us from buying stuff from John Lewis in any way. As I said, it is probably the least effective boycott imaginable.

I can easily boycott wadebridge.

Aviva made my BIL redundant years ago, so I'm happy to boycott them. He's now got a much better job, but still.

ravenAK · 25/09/2014 16:32

The terms 'Principal' & 'Vice Principal' for two of my colleagues.

I don't care what it bloody says on your parking spaces now we're a Cackademy.

miaowmix · 25/09/2014 16:34

nevergoogle they are poncy sweet manufacturers. Their flagship shop is in my area. Like I said, niche!

nevergoogle · 25/09/2014 16:35

oh ok, that's fine then! John Lewis is on my list until I need something. I might pop in every now and then to check that the boycott is still necessary if that's ok.

OP posts:
Legionofboom · 25/09/2014 16:35

Grin at moving house to be nearer Morrisons so you can boycott it properly.

CalamitouslyWrong · 25/09/2014 16:36

Oh yes. You can pop in and not buy anything too. It's largely a boycott in name only.

nevergoogle · 25/09/2014 16:36

Superdry - a shop assistant was unbelievably rude to me once when I was Christmas shopping for my nephew. I vowed never to buy any of their products and I never have.

The only person this has ever affected is my DD, I don't think Superdry have been too troubled.
