My mum often put my hair up with elastic bands and it hurt like hell getting them out....................and awful cheap plasters that became part of your skin, could only be forced of after a long soak in the bath while painfully peeling them off with a knife.

i used to work with a bloke who had been in the st winifreds school choir!

what about wrestling on the telly on saturday afternoon?
and for me, the theme tune to 'last of the summer wine' is the saddest sound-it still makes my tummy lurch because it meant sunday night bedtime and school tomorrow.
i have a memory of an episode of tales of the unexpected that was about someone staking their little finger on a bet.
semolina pudding at school and green milkshake that we said was dinnerlady snot!( charming children that we were!)

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 17/06/2006 22:53

I used to love watching wrestling with my dad. I liked Catweazle and Big Daddy. mum would bring us buttered toast or crumpets with golden syrup and if it was winter we'd have a fire, blimey what a nostalgiac sentimental picture.

Furball · 17/06/2006 22:53

Wrestling on the telly or better still going to see it live at city hall. Brilliant stuff - and my mum was always one of the housewives standing up screaming at the referee.

2shoes · 17/06/2006 23:14

Gingeme · 17/06/2006 23:15

Blockbusters 'can I have a p please Bob'. I hated Worzel Gummidge. It frightened me whe he used to change his heads! Dr Who used to realy put the willys up me and The Incredible Hulk! We used to have Heinz tomato soup and crumpets on Saturday while watching RThe Hulk. Did anyone used to have a green plastic sofa with buttond on the seat that always hurt your legs if you had shorts on?

ginmummy · 17/06/2006 23:16

Real wrestling with Giant Haystacks and Big Daddy followed by World of Sport presented by Dickie Davis in a fuggy smoke filled living room at my nan and grandad's! Them were the days! Smile

SaintGeorge · 17/06/2006 23:17

Not green plastic no, but all furniture seemed to have big buttons on for some reason. You would get little red circles on the backs of your legs whenever you sat down.

Gingeme · 17/06/2006 23:23

Thems the one stgeorge looked like you had big spots on your legs.

Gingeme · 17/06/2006 23:24

Do you remember white dog pooh? What did the dog eat for goodness sake?

SaintGeorge · 17/06/2006 23:29

The last time I mentioned that I was berated for missing a whole thread on the subject "where has all the whit edog poo gone?" or something like that. Grin

ginmummy · 17/06/2006 23:30

SaintGeorge · 17/06/2006 23:31

You must be young Smile

Dog poo that is white - just like it says on the tin.

Gingeme · 17/06/2006 23:31

Oh right. Well it does make you wonder doesnt it? I remember having 'that tennis game' on our tv. My Dad thought he was well up on technology. My cousin had a hand held Pac Man machine too which was the shape of Pac Man.

2shoes · 17/06/2006 23:32

Gingeme · 17/06/2006 23:33
