My mum often put my hair up with elastic bands and it hurt like hell getting them out....................and awful cheap plasters that became part of your skin, could only be forced of after a long soak in the bath while painfully peeling them off with a knife.

anyone elseGrin

My kids have the slime and silly putty too, its all coming back in now though.

What about those little dolls made of beans with a plastic fruit head on which came in matchboxes.

JanH · 17/06/2006 19:48

Is it time for your medication, crazydazy?

foxinsocks · 17/06/2006 19:48

I remember those litle dolls, Crazydazy! You could get little beanie dolls that came in plastic peanuts too!
What about girls world - that plastic head that you used to put make up on?!

Gingeme · 17/06/2006 20:07

Ive got a brand new combine harvester, sung by the worzels! I had a girls world with the hair bit in the middle. I ended up shaving her head colouring it orange and making her up like Annie Lennox. Was big on the Eurythmics in my youth.

JanH · 17/06/2006 20:10

Brand new roller skates came first - that was Melanie!

Carmenere · 17/06/2006 20:11

I had a Girls World but my brother drew a hitler forhead and mustache on it in permanent markerShockAngry

Gingeme · 17/06/2006 20:21

Oh no thats not nice. I think the girls world heds now are rely rubbish. They already have make up on them! Do you remember the sindy houses you used to get? I had a wall that had a fire and a cat and a phone and a clock and they all used to make noises when you put a little magnetic pen thing on them. The phone used to ring every now and then too. Used to frighten the life out of me.

southeastastra · 17/06/2006 20:29

that's funny carmenere! i had a pippa and my sister had a daisy that was out of bounds to me! Smile

Making dens around the farm with my cousins.
Everyone in the village was 'auntie or uncle' & some still are to this day.DH looks at me very strangely when I mention auntie x or uncle y.

My first car,a Fiesta,had a choke.
Going to the village shop with the big old pennies & buying liquorice pinwheels.
Buying walnut whips from Mr Cooper's mobile shop.He kept them under the paraffin,so they always had a faint taste of fuel about them.
The suitcase man who came around selling dusters, excercise books ect.
Visiting the first supermarket that opened near us.I think it was a Finefare.
Green shield stamps.
Finding an escaped mental patient in a ditch one day.
Drving a tractor & 40ft trailor loaded with bales arond the fields when I was about 15.Picking potatoes, plucking turkeys & pheasants.Herding the sheep to the next village & making all the traffic come to a standstill.Looking for eggs in the haystacks & generally running wild over the fields & woods whenever we could.

Power cuts.We seemed to get them regularly. And my nan herding us all out of the farm & into the cowsheds if there was a thunderstorm. She lived in terror of the chimney being stuck by lightning

We also had an outside toilet until I was at primary school. My friends dd was telling me in a shocked voice, that her nanna had to go to the toilet in a little house outside when she was a little girl. When I said that I did too,she looked at me with such sceptiscism that I'm sure she thought I was making it up.She was far to polite to say anything though.
