Try ES as they do turn down an awful lot and they have been going 40 years so they do know a thing or two. If an agency is guaranteeing work then that cant be right not in this type of business cos its unpredictable. Also its based on child's personality I have been on shoot where the babies had to sit on a bed and smile and one baby from another agency was absolutely cute but would not sit still and ended up jumping up and down and had to be sent home so that was no good. I'm lucky as my baby cant crawl/move so all she does is sits and she is quite a sociable baby which is what its all about cos sometimes the baby is taken away and you cant be near them when they are taking the photos. Also BK might be gtting the ad works/live telly but photo work is your bread and butter as there is more of it.

Yes ive heard ES very good.I have seen people on this site sayn their kids have been turned down so at least you know they do not take everyone one.Has anyone heard of Moviemites agency someone suggested there name to me but there seems nothing on this site abouut them.

kazza3 · 07/02/2005 15:17

Always remember that if you havent heard about them then have the casting agents ???

MUM007 · 07/02/2005 17:05

We will stick with Bizzykidz.Am going to send my cheque off this week and see what happens. If my D doesnt like it then she doesnt have to do it.As long as she is happy then thats all i care about. There are so many agencies out there its just picking the one that you think is right.

JBMUM · 08/02/2005 00:43

I am with Bizzykidz and they told me when I joined that they cannot guarantee work and not all get work. They said that is why they choose not to charge yearly fees and that is why I went with them because they were very matter of fact and honest and told me the hard realities and not fantasies. They turned me down the first time I applied, told me to re-aply at a later date and then did accept me. We've had work, not all the time mind you because sometimes we don't hear for a while then we get a flurry of auditions and work. They are a good agency, not expensive, realists and honest and will advise you correctly if they refuse you about how to apply to a good agency and avoid getting conned by others. Good luck and hope this has helped somewhat because you are right, there are loads of agencies out there, most good too???

MUM007 · 08/02/2005 09:53

JBMUM-Thanks foryour advice it helps to talk to someone thats in the know.I saw someone on here say about doctors letter butI have not been asked for that yet.Although i have only just sent my fee off. Will they contact me regarding this or should I just get one done anyway.I am sure children cannot get work without this.

JBMUM · 09/02/2005 00:06

I got my letter from the agency asking for this about two weeks after joining and you will get asked for it, so it might be best to get one ready. It just has to say that your child is in good health I think. My doctor wasn't sure what to put in it, but bizzykidz do send you a letter out for your doctor to just complete and sign. So if you do have problems getting one then wait for your agency letter then give the letter to him.

MUM007 · 09/02/2005 14:54

JBMUM-How long is it normally until they are up and running? I suppose i should really ring them and ask all these questions but you feel like your bothering them.Have your children had much work and do they enjoy it.I told my D if she did get anything but realised she didnt enjoy doing it that wouldb it.At the end of the day its not like we have had to pay fortunes.

outtolunch · 09/02/2005 14:59

re: bizzykidz - does anyone know if there are more fees to pay after the initial £94?

Chuffed · 09/02/2005 15:08

I didn't have to pay that much?

MUM007 · 09/02/2005 17:26

How much did you pay it was £80 plus vat for us.

outtolunch · 09/02/2005 17:59

mom007 - have you had a more fees to pay since the initial amount?

MUM007 · 09/02/2005 18:23

No that is all I have been asked for so far.I understand that if you have the black and white photos done they are free.Have you just been accepted too?

outtolunch · 09/02/2005 18:47

Yup - just trying to decide which agency to go with. They all seem to charge something. Bizzy kidz didn't mention b&w photos to me, they just said to send in snaps regularly.

sazy123 · 09/02/2005 19:57

hi
I have been accepted by bizzykidz and little acorns, after reading this bizzykidz seems like the better option. but im quite confused about why they dont want 2 see your kid for an inteview first, how do they know the kid will be appropriate and asses there personality before you pay the £96. has anyone been turned down by them? from reading the discusion, they seem to accept quite a few people. i was turned down by elizabethsmith.

kazza3 · 09/02/2005 20:14

Sazy you didnt mention how old your little one is?

Chuffed · 10/02/2005 11:34

I think it was about £45. No photos included, they just said to keep sending in regular snaps.

No work yet.

outtolunch · 10/02/2005 11:43

Hi Chuffed - how long ago did you join?

sazy123 · 10/02/2005 17:04

Hi
my d is 8. i have rang bizzykidz 2day, and asked them a few questions im still unsure about why they dont asses a childs personality at an inteview before they send photos to clients, because if it was photographic work the client could end up with loads of children that cant sit still and thats wasting their and our time. they also said they accept 2 or 3 children i think a month but it might of been a week. they said they have 600 children on thier books compared with elizabethsmith 1000 so it probaly was a month. but theres so many people on here saying they have been accepted.
im just even more confued now i think :~{
does anyone who has had work with them know if this nu inteview thing works?

kazza3 · 10/02/2005 20:47

ES might of said no cos they have alot of children looking similar to yours of the same age especially if you have a girl. When I spoke to BK ages ago they seemed friendly enough but my little one is with ES who have given her lots of work b4 xmas but she is alot younger than yours and also works as a boy as well ! Best to go with your gut instincts and give it a go with BK or ask ES why they turned your d down and decide then.

MUM007 · 11/02/2005 14:08

I think you should just give it a go.Ihave told my d not to really expect anything but if she does its a bonus.I knowit sounds harsh but that is the reality of it.I would not want her to expect to be getting loads of castings or work.If there are 600 kids on their books it would be lucky to get chosen

natsy · 11/02/2005 20:03

hi, nats here just wondering my son is with bk he is 16 months old .
lots of people have been saying that they have been called up for castings.
my son hasnt been called for any yet and he has been with them nearly a year now .
i am thinking that maybe it is because there is less work for black babies ? what do you think?
they are a good agency dont get me wrong he was called for 1 job soon after he joined but he didnt have a license yet so couldnt do that job.
but its just the casting side of things that worry me cause he hasnt been called for any yet.
would love some replies . natsy

kazza3 · 12/02/2005 19:08

I don think its your d's colour but I have been told that between the ages of 1 and 2 work isnt as much 'cos they are meant to be at a difficult age ! My little one is lucky cos she is prem she is still small for her age and models as a younger baby yet as a maturity of an older one. Also she models as a boy and a girl cos her look can be either ! Is anyone going for audition tomorrow (Sunday at EC1) ?

JBMUM · 12/02/2005 19:33

Hi Jo here.

I am with Bizzykidz and had all the same concerns at the beginning. I read these messages on here and called my booker this morning. She explained to me that agencies are now charging anything up to £30 to be interviewed and that doesn't guarantee you will be accepted. Bizzykidz don't want to go down that route and have not got time to interview that many people as they are busy with their agency work. My answer to that was 'well how do you know that my D is suitable for work?' She said that their clients contact them by email or phone and ask for certain types of children for a job, they then email children's details to the client. The client chooses from shots so why can't the agency - and they dont have to charge the parent for that in the process. Their fees were £80 but they went vat registerred late last year, so it has gone up, but they are still one of the cheapest. They get work for all types of children so they will accept if a child lives in area that can get to auditions and as long as they are getting enough work for them. They don't charge to do that assessing though and what they do is decide whether the child is suitable for tv work or photographic cos some are better at one or the other. I was given a big information leaflet by them when I joined and it explains in there about the black and white photographs. You can send in snapshots every month for the website, which is what I do every month to keep our site up to date. The agency book is different though, they don't charge to go in it at all but they need to use professional photographs of course. You can send in your own or dont go in it at all. If you want to go in it but cant afford to have the photographs done then you can book an appointment with a studio they use and they will only charge £45 which is much cheaper than the studio I was going to use. The agency dont do the photos though and the studio is nothing to do with them. Last year I had mine done in London, but I am having new ones done in Bexleyheath (near their offices) this time. Reading through these postings I see that someone spoke to Bizzykidz and they said they have got 600 on their books and Elisabeth Smith have 1000. Well Elisabeth Smith charged those 1000 £30 each to be interviewed, then over £150 a year to be with them. I paid much less than that to be with Bizzykidz, with no interview fee and it was only paid once. I didn't pay again this year and my D is with them for free now until she is 17, so how can that be a bad thing. I went to the agency office last September for an interview for a job as an assistant booker with them (didn't get it) and I was really impressed with their set up. If anyone has any problems or concerns with them then perhaps they should arrange to go in and see them. They're really nice and will always see you for a chat. The lady who owns it had her D with agencies when she was younger and knows how they all operate. She told me that she started the agency and wanted to run it in the way that parents prefer and not the agency i.e. no fees etc. If you call the parent number out of hours there is a message with a bookers mobile number on to call out of hours and they always answer it, so call them if you are concerned. I am sure they would rather that than a parent having worries and not addressing them to the person they should be.

JO
