Wow! So much has been added since I was last in! Thanks, Roses, for the comprehensive list and commentary of the agencies. It should be a "sticky" and remain on top of the posts for ease of reference.

I cannot add much about DS's agency, BK, as we haven't had a casting so my experience is limited. However, they have been very good about getting back to us quickly and even replaced a photo on their website within a day or two of my sending a new one. (I do not like the ones that were selected from the BK photoshoot - frightening thought...they were the "good ones" AUGUGUGHHHH!!!! Lol!). DS doesn't have a "look" which makes him stand out from the crowd so I assume that jobs will be very few and far between. Oh well.

Just had a thought - I have got to contact the agency to see whether or not the photos of DS are the ones which are going into the Model Book! Horrifying thought!

I'd add a few impressions WRT BK and another agency but I am afraid I'll be "flamed" by the "powers that be"! Made the mistake of being forthright before and all it got me was grief. Nuts. There is enough information on this thread to satisfy any curious mind though...

Hope you all have a festive holiday season! See you in the New Year!

hi 2manypimms

i had same problem - my sons shots were changed to BK photoshoot 'professional' ones and to be honest the snapshots i had on there already were miles better. we travelled miles to that shoot and came away with about 6 photos. so disapointed with them - they all look same. we arrived in afternoon and so thought that everyone was tired buy then. but were in an out in couple of minutes.

how long have you been with BK. i am just sending shots to some new agencies beginning to think i am going to cut my losses.

mythumbelinas · 19/12/2005 13:26

Oh hahahehe .. i am agreeing with u .. there deosn't seem to be much work around for dd1's age at the mo, but i'm being patient coz i'm doing this mostly for her (when dd2 has had all the work so far)
I agree with vinoqueen too about modelling thru the ages .. kids change .. u can never predict.

Kyles- We have been with BK for a few months. A sniff of something in early September was all we have had so far. It is a competitive business and I expect no less really. I approached Norrie Carr and they wanted to see DS but then we had an audition with Jabberwocky which DS completely blew. I thought that if Norrie Carr is anything like Jabberwocky, I'd be wasting the trip to London and 20 quid for them to tell me that DS isn't suitable. Alas!

Hey everyone, what a great source of information, only just discovered it, wished I learnt about ages ago. Anyway. I just wanted some info- I hope I?m not getting to personal, but I was wondering if anyone was willing to discuss buy out fees. My son was lucky enough to get the job for the Huggies packaging campaign (2 year old group), but they also book a number of children, for backup. So I think it?s out of him and another, as 1 child didn?t turn-up. My agency didn't tell me how much the job is worth and said they will discuss this if he is chosen for the final picture, I think the picture will be used worldwide on their nappies, does anyone know what the buy-out fee is likely to be. I may be counting my chickens before they hatch, but I just wanted to be prepared to argue or agree in case he is used, there are lot of bad practices out their, as I have painfully discovered, any help appreciated...thank you..

littlechristmaself · 19/12/2005 15:51

hi i dont understand about buy out, when ds was picked for tomy toys there were 4 kids they all was photografed the same, and ds was picked he is also would wide and he just got set amout for time the pics took, and so did the others because of the time which was £26 p h and they all did 5 hours bonous is ds was picked

takeabreak · 19/12/2005 16:14

sorry not buy-out but usuage fees, these are negotiated by the agent. If you look at your agents website at their fees/rates section you usually read something like this "THE ABOVE RATES DO NOT INCLUDE INTERNET USAGE, POINT OF SALE, DIRECT MAIL

PACKAGING, POSTERS OR SHOW CARD FEES. THESE ARE ADDITIONAL AND MUST BE BROUGHT TO
OUR ATTENTION AND NEGOTIATED AT THE TIME OF THE BOOKING.", but I guess it depends on your agents negotiations tactics and what the pictures are to be used for, as one mother I spoke to at the huggies job, only got an additional £150 for the usage, it was for mothercare, and her DS was featured on billboards across the country. Which agent are you with?

littlechristmaself · 19/12/2005 16:24

dk of sheffield, and kidz manchester,, and we never got any extra, like i said only the cost of pics what everyb kid got.
who are you with??

takeabreak · 19/12/2005 17:08

Scallywags, looked at DK and Kidz websites, dont mention their fees, so not sure..my ds has only done 1 other job, they used him for in store posters (POS), when I spotted it, I contacted my agent who then argued for additional money from the client, we got £100 pounds for that. but maybe they didn't argue on my behalf and they received the money anyway?maybe I am being to suspicious...But if you look at a lot of the agents websites fee/rates section they all have the same spill about, costs does not include usage...anyone else received usage fees?

littlechristmaself · 19/12/2005 19:16

Have recently been invited for an assessment at Childsplay Agency. I did a search on here but no-one seems to have put any positive or negative experiences of them. Anyone with them or know much about them? - thanks.

dose anyone know any agencys near scotland?

Joshuasmum · 23/12/2005 13:24

I wish I would have read this thread before I registered my son with an agency. I was a bit too trusting and because they put on a good presentation at the start, I assumed that they were interested in working with us..not a peep out of them in 6 months! I have cancelled the contract because we are leaving the country and have asked them to provide me evidence of work they have done on my son's behalf..we'll see what response I get! In the mean time - AVOID LITTLE ACORNS
