I just want to say that I read a couple of times that people were unhappy with the photos done by the BK photogrpaher. Well on checking my babies page today the one's we had done are up and Im so pleased with the result. Its a fantastic picture and Im really chuffed.

HAVE A FANTASTIC CHRISTMAS EVERYONE.... finally my little man is back on food and is a happy little chappy ( except for a tooth playing havoc with him but I can cope with that after the last 5 weeks ) Hope santa brings lots of nice things to u all xxx

Tink - glad yours came out well! I think that it wasn't DS's most photogenic day. The photographer seemed to be on the ball and DS enjoyed it - but something didn't work out. I'd like to have a re-sit but don't want to stump up yet more money when there hasn't been a sniff of work.

Hope you all survived the holidays - only a week til they are back at school!

There appears to be some confusion with usage and buyout fees amongst parents, which one of my parents has asked that I try to help with.

Basically, there is a 'standard' hourly rate for children (babies is normally around £45-£50 per hour with a 2 hour minimum booking) and that would include one usage (point of sale, or brochure etc). Any further usage should be negotiated at the time of booking and the parent should be told what the fee will be when first contacted by their booker. Usage is different for each country and would be open to negotiation anyway, but they can range from £400 for 12 months brochure up to £32,000 for worldwide multi-use (in our experience). In my opinion, a parent should always clarify the exact fee BEFORE accepting the assignment and if the booker has not already confirmed it to you first.

I hope that helps

Have a great 06

Debi

perfumelady · 07/01/2006 19:43

hi mykidsmum, have you had any exciting jobs in the last few months? haven't heard from you for a while.

your children have been with urban angels for a long time now haven't they? do you have to go to london and have photos taken to reapply each year or do you automaticly get given a new contract?

kylesmybaby · 07/01/2006 22:04

i am in process of applying to a couple of agencies for my son and thought i would try urgan angels, although they do not take anyone his age till may. i am looking for any ideas of others that people have joined and your children have got work. i have found MOT site but there is nothing on there about kids - is that a seperate one and do you have the website address. any others ideas appreciated. thanks

kylesmybaby....we are with KIDS LONDON (www.kidslondonltd.com) and I for us, so far, they have been excellent. We have been with them since the end of October and have had 3 jobs! I am a VERY proud mummy as I have just got the new Mothercare catalogue and my little one is in it!!!!
They do not accept email applications-post only, which is a bit of a bore but they are quite small (250-300kids). We only paid a £25 fee which was taken from the first job so there was no initial payout....which I liked!
But as I say they have been good for us....which is not to say they will be the best agent for everyone. We have just been lucky - the right size at the right time!!!

mykidsmum · 07/01/2006 23:07

So far we automatically get a new contract, recently my little girl was on the cover of Boots christmas gift guide, and yesterday my little boy did a Matalan shoot with Jeff Banks. I guess the contract thing does depend on how much work they get etc, but saying that my ds2 didn't work at all last year and still had his contract renewed and like i said just worked yesterday.

mykidsmum · 07/01/2006 23:10

Btw you have to renew their pictures every year normally in May or November

BOOKER · 08/01/2006 12:45

in reply to two people chatting about not having received shots and passwords yet from bizzykidz. You are making it look like you have joined and bizzykidz are not forthcoming with your information when you need it, which is not true at all.

The password for any child (under 3 yr olds) is ALWAYS included automatically in your acceptance letter. It is then repeated in the letter we send you to confirm we had received payment and model detail sheet when you joined. So why are the 'waiting' for a password from us that are still yet to receive?? You will be waiting a long time if they just chat to each other about not getting it. IF you have mislaid your letter, or not read it properly and need a password then email the company for it surely?? We do have parents that do not read their paperwork correctly and those that forget the password, that email us quite frequently and it takes us seconds to reply.

In addition, you have confirmed that did receive the confirmation letter with the password in it as you have also mentioned the photoshoot you attended, the invitation for which was included in that very same letter.

Then the shots. The cd's go out 28 days after a shoot, which was stated in capital letters on the form which you completed at the studio on the day. The agency and the studio were closed for the best part of 2 weeks over xmas and new year so that would not be included and should be allowed for.

Enid · 08/01/2006 12:47

are you allowed to come onto mumsnet and discuss the ins and outs of your business BOOKER? shouldn't you be paying for the advertising?

Rhubarb · 08/01/2006 12:48

Shots? You vaccinate them first? What does that prevent then - vanity? (just kidding! don't jump on me!)

Enid · 08/01/2006 12:52

they clearly aren't working then rhubarb

JOKE!!

BOOKER · 08/01/2006 13:01

I have not advertised my company at all Enid, merely giving a reply to a parent that is clearly confused and asking the wrong person.

Indeed I have replied as a 'person' not a company, who knows the answer to a query. I think perhaps a thank you for the information would be more beneficial than questioning my motives??

It would be most unprofessional, surely, for me to simply allow my parents to remain confused about matters, than try to help them out?

BOOKER · 08/01/2006 13:02

good sense of humour rhubarb

MUM007 · 08/01/2006 14:24

Hi everyone Happy New Year. Just wanted to add that mums must read all their paperwork thoroughly when they join an agency and if you are unsure of ANYTHING contact the agency direct with a problem. After all they are the professionals and us mums are only on here to chat rather than dish out advice really on agencies. What we must remember is that one agency may get work for our kids but not for others so it is really unfair to put down an agency just because your child has not got any work. I am also suprised that many of you have not been with agencies for very long but are disgruntled when after a couple of weeks you have no work. My daughter joint Bizzykidz in Jan last year.I was a child model myself so I was under no illusions that the work would come flooding in! We waited until August for her first job then once she got her first job other work came in! Bizzykidz dont need to advertise on here they are so so busy anyway. I think it is because parents that are with them who read this out of interest dont like negative comments being made about them and ring them up to inform them. And to be honest the only negative comments that are made are referring to jobs the kids get. Debi Clark is brilliant from Bizzykidz just a normal mum like us. She does know everyone child personally not like many agencies and believe me anyone that is still at her desk at 11pm trying to secure jobs for our kids should be respected. Another thing i have noticed from reading on here is that some mums have been with an agency only a few weeks are joining another agency because their child has had no work. What we must remember is that your child is probably being seen by lots of different casting agents every week but may not have the look. When my little girl did her first mag job she was so so proud and do you know if she never got anything ever again she can say i did it.How many children get the chance to be in a magazine. We should treat it as something special and not rule our lives by it. Anyway I am probably going to get grief over this but am just fed up with Bizzykidz being chastised all the time just for replying on here. we should be thankful for any advice they are giving. After all they are giving it for free!!
