What is the creepiest or scariest story you know? I don't care if its true or just an urban legend or story. I am in the mood to be creeped out plus I'm trying not to have to clean. I was driving home from work last night down some dark country lanes and couldn't get the stories about the stick/shadow men things out of my head. V scary!

I googled.

It ought to be a mn rule that scary threads are started at 9am and finish at 3pm winter, 8pm summer.

twentythirteen · 09/01/2013 22:06

I have been very brave, seriously regretted opening this thread but now I am through, I will not be googling anything . Goodnight!

wannabedomesticgoddess · 09/01/2013 22:07

Just thinking, wasnt there a post on a thread like this before where the poster and her friend spotted a shadow/stick man under a lampost at night and it chased them into their house and stood outside the door for a while?

Havent a clue what thread it was on to even search.

ClaraBean · 09/01/2013 22:11

VisualiseAHorse · 09/01/2013 22:11

KatyPeril · 09/01/2013 22:12

greencolorpack · 09/01/2013 22:13

Amber leaf, look up Daily Mail, Ghoulish Halloween mask arsonist firebombs house, it's something like that, sorry I'm technically ungifted and can't post links. But I just found it and freaked out again.

This one is a true story, nanna used to scare us deliciously with it when we were small.
Many many years ago, my nanna was walking home. Their house was the last one in the street, with only a farm track for a path, and the cemetery was directly across the way, all the way up the track.
It was about 10pm and pitch dark (no street lights - this was about 1947 ish as my mam was a baby) and as she walked something white flew up into the air, rushed at her, and wrapped itself round her face and head....
She fled, screaming blue murder, and everyone from the houses rushed out to see what was happening. When she eventually stopped, having tripped and fallen down, my granda was there to "save her" having run after her when he realised it was her, and it was a big sheet of tissue paper that had blown off some flowers on someone's grave.

MissyMooandherBeaverofSteel · 09/01/2013 22:17

link that green was talking about.

ClaraBean · 09/01/2013 22:21

I am not going near that link until tomorrow Grin

wannabedomesticgoddess · 09/01/2013 22:25

Glad others remember that too. It really freaked me out.

The urban legends surrounding The Appalachian Trial really freak me out.

DS3 was born on 30/11 DH came home from hospital at around 2am he went to the toilet (bathroom downstairs). On his way out the bathroom he looked at the clock, he noticed it had stopped. He was going to change the batteries then thought about it for a moment before realizing the clock had stopped at the exact time of DS3s birth. 20:49 (it had worked during that day as I was using it to time contractions)

The clock was given to me by my Grandad Alan who died in June.

We named our son Charlie-James Alan.

DH still can't explain it and he's normally got an explanation for every creepy thing. It freaked him out.

A week later when we decided to change the batteries (I didn't have the heart to change the batteries straight away) DH got the clock down from the wall and all of a sudden it started working again Smile

pinkyp · 09/01/2013 22:38

Why do I always open these threads at night!

I believe my house is haunted and get the feeling it's a young woman and child, lots of little things have happened.

Dh was nodding off on the sofa Monday night and I came in and shouted his name and went back out the room, he got up and shouted me to see what i wanted only to find I was fast asleep. He was mid-dream he said so he knows he saw herBlush

Naysa · 09/01/2013 22:46

Eeek I love these threads Grin

Can anyone link to the old thread pretty please? I'm on my tablet and can't find it.

What about the one with the babysitter?

The children she is looking after keep coming down telling her that the clown in their room is scaring them. The babysitter goes upstairs and sees a lifesize clown doll. She rings the parents and asks them if she can cover it because the children are scared. The parents tell her to take the children and run. Because they dont have a clown doll Grin

An ex colleague of mine and his girlfriend stayed in a supposedly haunted hotel as a treat to themselves after two weeks camping in the highlands. The room they were in was (according to the barman) the most notorious. They scoffed at this and had the best nights sleep ever. When they returned home and uploaded their photos onto the laptop there was one of them fast asleep in the bed in the hotel.

IamtheZombie · 09/01/2013 22:58

Here's one of the old threads.

Zombie thought she had a couple more on her watch list but maybe they were in Chat and have now self-destructed.

ClaraBean · 09/01/2013 23:01

Malkie surely that is the 'hilarious' hotel staff!

FatherHankTree · 09/01/2013 23:09

Things haved moved in the house we're in. I thought I was imagining it, but last year DD and I both saw stuff in the recycling box move, sort of shaking or vibrating. I'd not told her about it previously ans she was Shock After reading a thread on here, I said (out loud) 'stop it, or leave' and since then, almost nothing.
