What is the creepiest or scariest story you know? I don't care if its true or just an urban legend or story. I am in the mood to be creeped out plus I'm trying not to have to clean. I was driving home from work last night down some dark country lanes and couldn't get the stories about the stick/shadow men things out of my head. V scary!

Seems that hearing people in your home that you presume to be someone you know and it turns out they weren't home at all is quite common!

It's not just that you hear them, you can feel them. I could actually feel another adult in the room with me. Next time you're in a room with other people close your eyes and imagine you're alone; you can't, because you can feel the presence of other people. I felt him lean over me and look at me before leaving the room.

I felt it was male, but that might be because I was assuming it was my husband, maybe he did come home on the astral realms Grin

A few weeks ago dp woke up and saw the baby behind him.We sleep on a pullout bed and the bit behind where you would sit is where he saw him.
Anyway he went to grab him and he moved back so he went for him again and this time he just disappeared.

He didnt think anything when he saw him,he just thought i had him downstairs.
He woke me up and told me and was really freaked out about it.He wouldnt really believe in woo.
Anyway he said it was like it wasnt expecting anyone to wake up and he caught it unawares.

Went and checked on the kids and they were grand havent a clue what it was though

Hmmm it is possible for people to project their image elsewhere without meaning to? As a child I had a best friend, we were joined at the hip and on more than one occassion I saw her 'over there' while she was standing next to me.

I sound a right weirdo, but interestingly these occurrences seem to happen when bed is involved. It could just be that no matter how certain we are that we're awake - we're not. We're in that half dream/half wake state. Which is where sleep paralysis kicks in and audial and visual hallucinations are common. I've had SP since I was 13 and had some really weird and wonderful hallucinations and experiences with it.

Still, it makes me inclined to think I really wasn't anywhere near sleep because I'm so familiar with SP symptoms and I'm still sure I was completely awake and conscious. Hmmm....

One Sunday last year dh and I were in the kitchen getting dinner ready. Ds(10) and dd(6) were outside playing with some of the other children on our street. They had been in and out all day. So dinner was just ready and I was setting the table. I could hear dd upstairs in her room so I asked dh to go up and get her. He shouted up the stairs but got no answer, so he went up. Came down a moment later, totally confused saying there was noone up there. I looked out the front window and both dd and ds were outside the house playing. Yet both dh and I were absolutely convinced he had heard her wandering around her bedroom for the last 5 minutes or so.

My mum also has one she told me when I was younger. When she was a teenager she was round at a friends house one evening. There were a few friends there and as it got later they started telling ghost stories. All of a sudden a religious picture that the parents had hanging on the wall fell off and smashed to pieces. The kids all screamed and the mother came running in to see what had happened. Just as the panic was over and they were all calming down there was a knock on the door. The father had been returning from work and his car had crashed just up the road from the house. He had been killed instantly.

About 10 years ago we lived in this house (me, my mum and my 2 sisters). The man who lived in the house before us had actually died in the house.

I moved out and it was just my mum and little sisters living there, my sisters shared a room.

My mum went to bed one night, her room was next to my old room which was now empty, she heard a noise like somebody knocking on the wall in my old room, she went to my room thinking maybe the window had been left open - it hadnt, so she made her way back to bed and there was that knocking again. Then as she walked past the top of the stairs she heard a noise coming from the livingroom, she had laminate floor and it sounded like something was being dragged across it.

She had to sleep with the light on all night, was so terrified she wanted to get the kids and get out of the house but was too scared to go downstairs.

She moved out not long after that.

Then in her new house she said she was sat in bed one night and she hears this mans voice say "get out" and could smell cigarette smoke. Nobody in the house smoked and there was no men in the house.

I have another story, one about my cousin but i'll write later coz im going to make tea.

Most Haunted is just starting on Sky Living+1, it's the Drury Lane Theatre one which I recall is a pretty good one.

I lived in a flat that was haunted once!

It started about a week after I moved in, the strange things happening.

Little things like putting something down, knowing 100% where I had put the item and then it disappears for days only to turn up in the fridge or somewhere equally ludicrous! As a 19yo i just put it down to being forgetful sometimes for a while...then I went to work in the club I worked weekends in and locked the bolt on the door - I know I did as my sister was with me and forgot her coat and we had to go back in so I double checked the locks when we came back out - when I got home the lock was undone and there was a large muddy footprint on the kitchen floor (but nowhere else) Confused the kitchen was about 10 steps along a hallway so unless an intruder took his boots off just to leave one footprint...

I changed the locks the next day and got another bolt for the inside...so anyway, the following weekend when I got home the key wouldn't go into the lock properly so I couldn't get back in. I rang my dad who came and kicked the door in as he couldn't get it open only to find the spare key in the back of the lock, the lock on and no one in the flat!

I wasn't all that scared but decided to give the spare keys to my mum so the same thing didn't happen again...

About 3 weeks later, I was in bed on Sunday morning after working til 4am and the landline rang. I ignored it as the phone was in the living room and I was in bed and the phone stopped after about 3 rings so I didn't worry about it. About 5 minutes later my sister rang me on my mobile (big old Nokia phone Grin) and asked why I had answered the phone how I did. I hadn't answered the phone and told her this. She then told me that the phone rang three times, was picked up and someone whispered "Yes, Hello?" I laughed and said that was impossible, she must have had the wrong number. I decided to go and check as my sister said she had tried to call back and the line was engaged. When I went not the living room, the phone was moved to the top of the telly in the corner so the wire was stretched taut from the socket and the handset was out of the phone cradle!!! WEIRD!

I moved out after 6 months and the housing officer asked why so I told her. She then laughed and said she had thought the last tennants had been lying!
Apparently the people who lived in the flat before me had complained that there had been intruders in the flat a number of times and blamed other tennants in the building...they also bought a new flashy (then) TV - one of those big heavy ones with a box on the back- and it would switch itself off by the plug on a regular basis and then one day they went out for the day and when they got home they fond the TV wedged tight in the bath...they moved out the next day...Confused
