SECRET KIDDIES XMAS SWAP - PLEASE READ!!!

Ok, inspired by everyones generosity and an idea I saw I'm suggesting we do a secret kiddies christmas swap.

How it would work is this. If you want to sign up your child(ren) then you list them here. Their ages (don't have to give their names)sexes and their likes and dislikes.

Then you will email me your address. I will then give each person one address and the poster whose child they are swapping presents with. The present will have a value between £1 and £5, I say value cos then you don't have to buy anything new. But it must be in good enough condition to give as a present iykwim.

So then your children would get a surprise gift from a total stranger.

Ok this sounds stupid doesn't it?

Anyone game?

Hulababy · 28/12/2003 20:08

Such a fab idea!

Not heard from Twinkie on here yet so maybe off line for Christmas; hope your DD liked her present though.

popsycal · 28/12/2003 20:10

i was sure you were my secret santa hulababy!!!

Hulababy · 28/12/2003 20:11

I read that below. Seems like your pressie was a success too then. I had a huge clue for mine as the post mark was Spain - gave it away a bit.

pie said earlier that she has a system - call me sad but i am now looking at that list trying to decipher what the 'system' is!!!

Hulababy · 28/12/2003 21:21

Can't figure a system from the list either.

popsycal · 28/12/2003 21:22

i thougth litte sub-groups or age related babies...but cant quite test it properly!

Hulababy · 28/12/2003 21:32

Well I bought for a 3.5yo girl and my DD is 20mo. The person who bought her my DD has an 18mo DD.

Hulababy · 28/12/2003 21:33

So, maybe gender related?

popsycal · 28/12/2003 21:33

the person who bought for my ds has a almost identical age dd and i bought for an almost identical aged dd

Mummysurfer · 28/12/2003 21:34

i bought for 2 boys 10 & 7
I've got dd -7 and ds -4
So that's no help, is it?

Hulababy · 28/12/2003 21:35

Maybe it is the order we singed up, or e-mailed our address - something like that then?

popsycal · 28/12/2003 21:36

how about little sub groups of age related kids,,,but obviously with a little corss over
why dont we just ask pie?
PIEEEEE!!!!

Hulababy · 28/12/2003 21:37

Yes please Pie. Put us out of our misery! Was there a system or are we just sad for trying to work one out?

pie · 28/12/2003 21:56

lol

You guys are funny. Actually Hulababy you're right there is a bit of system and a bit of you guessing for something that isn't there.

I generally tried to match similar ages and sexes in case people didn't want to buy new, but for all those left over you ended up being randomly assigned. But I don't want to say too much or else you may all know before you get your presents next time! Actually what kept driving me mad was that I had paired people up, just about to write the emails and then realised I left someone off. I claim sleep deprivation.

You all on the January Swap yet?

OP posts:
pie · 28/12/2003 22:00

Oh, I see what comment of mine you are referring to...I just meant the general matching and then trying to make sure everyone sent out the same and got the same when there were actually in the end odd numbers. That was a headache.

we had great fun guessing and trying to work out the system!!!

Hulababy · 28/12/2003 22:01

Not organised enough for January. Maybe the next one though.

Thanks so much Pie, we've been away for a few days, I had "guessed" someone completely different - I guess i'm not cut out for detective work. Happy new year!!!

Hulababy · 30/12/2003 21:19

So glad she liked it Twinkie. I tried to imagine DD in a year or too. I remember saying she liked girly, pink things. Glad it went down well.

Bless her for thanking Santa in the chimney
